Chapter 498 Bringing the Adorable Baby Back to the Palace

In the limousine heading to the Grayson estate, Ethan leaned back against the seat, visibly exhausted. Ian noticed, "Your Highness, did you not sleep well last night? You look worn out."

"I've been sleeping quite well these past few nights," Ethan replied.

"Your condition must be improving, then," Ian said. "After we drop the children at preschool, perhaps we should schedule a follow-up appointment."

Ethan nodded. "Fine."

Their conversation paused as the car stopped at a red light near a crosswalk.

Meanwhile, in another vehicle, Yaakov was driving with Liam in the passenger seat.

"Do you think we'll see Ethan at the preschool today?" Liam asked.

Yaakov shrugged. "We'll find out when we get there."

Thinking about how Ethan had completely cut contact for years, Liam felt both disappointed and sorry for his sister. He turned to look absently out the window.

Suddenly, he spotted a familiar face in a luxury car beside them.

Ethan!

Liam couldn't believe his eyes. He rubbed them in disbelief, but by the time he looked again, Ethan's car had already driven away.

"Yaakov, I think I just saw Ethan!" Liam's face changed dramatically.

"Where?"

Liam pointed at the luxury car ahead. "In that car—it's a limited edition, isn't it? What kind of position does he hold now to be riding in something like that?"

"Who cares? Let's follow him!"

Liam nodded emphatically as Yaakov accelerated to catch up.

Inside Ethan's car, the driver checked the rearview mirror several times. "Your Highness, someone appears to be following us. I'm not sure what they want."

Ethan frowned, glancing back at the vehicle. "Lose them," he ordered coldly.

"Yes, sir."

The driver sped up immediately.

Ethan held Angela closer. "Hold tight, Angela."

After following for two blocks, Yaakov lost them.

"Damn it!" He slammed the steering wheel. "They spotted us and we lost them!"

"We have no choice but to intercept him at the preschool then."

Yaakov nodded. "Let's go."

At the Grayson estate, Andy and Nate stood waiting by the roadside, already dressed and with backpacks ready. Atticus, seeing them, suggested, "Kids, it's too much trouble for Uncle Totti to pick you up. Why don't I take you to preschool instead?"

"But Uncle Totti called this morning and said he would come for us," they replied.

The little ones had grown accustomed to their daily routine with their father, treasuring every moment they could spend with him. They weren't about to miss this opportunity, even if it meant disappointing their godfather.

"But..." Atticus began.

Before he could finish, Ethan's car pulled up.

The window rolled down, and Ethan called out, "Good morning, Andy, Nate."

"Good morning, Uncle!" they responded cheerfully.

How they wished they could say "Good morning, Daddy" instead, but for now, they had to maintain the pretense.

Ethan stepped out of the car and approached the children, his eyes full of affection. "Let's go. I'll take you to preschool."

"Thank you, Uncle."

"Your Highness, it's really inconvenient for you to drive back and forth every day," Atticus interjected. "Why not let me handle the school runs?"

Ethan paused mid-step and turned to look at Atticus.

He had never particularly liked Atticus, though he had come to respect his courage during their fair competition. However, since knowing that Ashley had feelings for Atticus, Ethan's gaze had turned cold, as if Atticus were some unforgivable criminal.

Bewildered by this icy stare, Atticus asked, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Ethan smiled, though his eyes remained cold. "You're right. It is inconvenient."

Andy and Nate exchanged worried glances, their faces showing traces of sadness.

Did their father find them burdensome? How heartbreaking.

But Ethan continued, changing his tone, "We've prepared two children's rooms at Azure Palace. This afternoon, I'll pick up Andy and Nate to live at the palace. That way, I won't need to inconvenience you anymore, and I'll save myself the daily commute."

Andy and Nate's expressions immediately brightened.

Daddy wanted them to come live with him?

But...

Andy worried, thinking, 'Will life at the palace have too many rules?'

Nate was thrilled, wondering, 'Wow, amazing! My prince father is taking me to the palace—I'll be a little prince now!'

"You're taking them to the palace?" Atticus asked. "Has Pearl agreed to this?"

Ethan smiled coldly. "She's my woman now. Her children can't continue living outside the palace indefinitely. Though they aren't my biological children, I will never neglect them. From now on, they'll be with me. Come on, children, let's go."

He took the children's hands and led them to the car.

Seeing Atticus persistently following, Ethan closed the car door and pulled Atticus aside. "Mr. Grayson, is there something else you'd like to say?"

Atticus stared at him intently. "Your Highness, is this Pearl's wish, or are you acting unilaterally?"

"It's Pearl's wish, of course," Ethan replied. "We've formalized our relationship, Mr. Grayson. I suggest you abandon your delusions."

Ethan was lying to Atticus!

He knew his actions were despicable, but he felt he had no choice. Call him selfish, but he couldn't bear the thought of bringing them together.

If that meant becoming the villain who tore a couple apart, then so be it.
