Chapter 533 Hope It's Not Too Late
"Hello, it's... Ashley. Could we meet and talk?" Ashley asked over the phone.
Ashley felt nervous inside. However, the other end of the line was filled with commotion. She heard voices conversing through the phone.
One voice stood out: "Doctor, we have an emergency patient here. Please come quickly."
"I'm on my way!" the doctor responded urgently.
"What's wrong? Hello? Are you..." Before she could finish speaking, the call disconnected.
Ashley stared at her phone, bewildered. What was happening? Who had answered her brother's phone? She thought she'd heard someone calling for a doctor. Had something happened to her brother?
With these thoughts, Ashley grew increasingly anxious and restless.
She tried calling again, but no one answered.
Ashley became more convinced that something must have happened to Liam, which would explain why he wasn't answering his phone.
"Pearl, what's wrong? You look so worried."
"Ethan, I just called my brother. The person who answered sounded like a doctor, but before I could talk to him, they hung up. I'm worried something's happened to my brother, which is why I can't reach him."
"Liam's in trouble?" Ethan tensed and said, "Don't worry. I'll have Ian look into it. He'll report back as soon as he has news."
"Thank you, Ethan."
Ian worked for the palace and was highly efficient. With him investigating, Ashley felt somewhat relieved.
"Daddy, who's Liam?"
"Nate, you've met him. He's the one who rescued you from those kidnappers. He's your maternal uncle."
Andy and Nate exclaimed in unison, "Maternal uncle? We actually have a maternal uncle?"
"Yes. Pearl, I'll call Ian now."
"Okay."
Ethan called Ian and explained the situation. Ian nodded in agreement. As they were about to end the call, Ian hesitated, "Your Highness... today, someone from His Majesty's staff pressed me for your whereabouts. Since they work for your father, I disclosed the information."
Ethan frowned. "Does my father need me for something?"
"That, I'm not sure about..."
"Alright, I understand. Please handle the task I assigned you as soon as possible."
"Yes, Your Highness."
Seeing Ashley's worried expression, Ethan said, "Pearl, don't worry. Ian is looking into it. We'll have news soon."
Ashley nodded anxiously. "Okay."
At the hospital, Liam had been in a car accident. The doctors had immediately treated his wounds. His injuries weren't severe—just some external cuts—but he had been unconscious for a long time with no signs of waking up.
"Why isn't he waking up? Could there be internal injuries? Maybe we should run more tests."
"But what if he can't afford the medical bills?"
As the nurses were discussing, Liam's fingers twitched slightly, and he opened his eyes.
"Oh, he's awake!"
"Hey, what's your name? Do you know how you got into this accident?"
Feeling dizzy and with ringing in his ears, Liam took a moment before responding hoarsely, "My name is... Liam..."
"Your foot has a bone injury. You might have difficulty walking for a while. Do you have family who can take care of you?"
Family?
In Gold Valley District, Ashley was the first person Liam thought of.
"I have a sister."
"You should contact her so she can come take care of you."
Liam nodded. Just then, Ian, who had managed to track him down, overheard this conversation.
"Excuse me, do you know Pearl?"
"Pearl?" Liam paused, then said, "Oh, you mean my sister Ashley. Yes, I know her. Why?"
Pearl? Ashley? That name wasn't that the name of His Highness's late wife?
Certain information flashed through Ian's mind, but he maintained a calm exterior. "It's nothing. She was worried something might have happened to you, so she asked me to find out where you are. Since I've found you, I'll send her your information."
Liam nodded. "Okay."
He had been planning to contact Ashley anyway, so he was glad for the help.
Ian relayed the information to Ethan and then called King Garrett.
He reported, "Your Majesty, His Highness asked me to find Pearl's brother. When I found him, he informed me that Pearl also has another name: Ashley. Isn't that the name of His Highness's late wife? Could it be... Pearl is Ashley? I felt this matter was too important, so I took the liberty of informing you without His Highness's knowledge!"
On the other end of the line, Garrett exclaimed in shock, "What did you say? Pearl is Ashley?"
He stood up abruptly, his expression drastically changing. "It's too late!"
"Your Majesty, what's too late?"
"Something terrible is about to happen!"
Garrett said, "Ian, go to the villa immediately. Stop Ina from getting near Ashley. You must prevent Ina from harming Ashley!"
If anything happened to Ashley and Ethan found out his father had sent 'Ina,' wouldn't they end up in a serious conflict?
Had he known Pearl was Ashley, he would never have attempted such a dangerous ploy!
Garrett was drenched in cold sweat, praying to God that there was still time, that Ashley wouldn't be harmed again!
He instructed anxiously, "Ian, remember what I said. You must hurry and ensure Ashley's safety at all costs!"
