Chapter 102 Ethan's Whereabouts
Ethan was Ryan's close brother. Seeing what was happening, he got angry and pulled Alex away roughly, causing Alex to fall.
Ryan saw Ashley crying, with casts on her hands and feet, looking really pitiful.
Alex got up and asked, "Who are you, and what do you want?"
Before Ryan and Pauline could answer, Ashley said, "Alex, I'm sorry; they're my friends."
Hearing this, Alex relaxed a bit.
Pauline, seeing Ashley like this, felt heartbroken. "Ashley, what happened to you?"
Ashley sniffled and said, "Pauline, it's okay, I survived."
She then looked at Ryan and said, "Mr. Reid, I can't reach Ethan. Can you help me contact him?"
"Sure."
Ryan tried calling Ethan but couldn't get through.
"Still no answer?"
Ashley frowned, worried. "Something big happened to me; Ethan wouldn't just ignore it. Could something have happened to him?"
A bad feeling grew stronger.
"Yeah, Ethan never loses contact. Could something really have happened to him?"
Ryan started to worry too. After thinking for a moment, he said, "I'll call Thomas."
Ashley nodded. "Thank you. I don't have Thomas's number, or I would've called him already."
Ryan called Thomas. "Thomas, do you know where Ethan is? We can't reach him."
Thomas said, "Mr. Ethan Yates left a little over an hour ago. Before he left, he told us to prepare dinner for Mrs. Ashley Yates, who's hospitalized. But when we got to the hospital, she was missing, and we were about to call the police."
"Mr. Reid, have you seen Mrs. Yates?"
Ryan glanced at Ashley. "She's with me. She had an incident."
"What kind of incident?"
"Mr. Reid, let me talk to him."
Ashley tried to move but couldn't lift her hand.
Ryan put the phone on speaker and held it next to her. Ashley said, "Thomas, this is Ashley. About four or five hours ago, I got a text from Michael asking me to meet him on the mountain. I thought Michael's phone was stolen, so I went. Unexpectedly, I was pushed off a cliff by a thug. Luckily, the cliff wasn't high, and I survived."
She paused and continued, "I was worried something had happened to Michael and tried to contact Ethan, but I couldn't reach him, so I called you."
"What, Michael texted you to go to the mountain?"
Thomas was shocked. "That's impossible. The Yates Mansion had an incident today, about four or five hours ago. Mrs. Katherine Yates fell down the stairs, and Mr. Michael Yates had a heart attack and was rushed to the emergency room."
"What, Grandparents had an accident?"
Everyone was stunned by the news, and Ashley felt even more heartache and worry.
"How are Grandpa and Grandma? Are they seriously hurt?"
"Mrs. Yates, don't worry. They're out of danger but still need hospital treatment."
Ashley sighed in relief.
"Ethan must've been busy this afternoon, which is why we couldn't reach him."
"Yes, Mr. Ethan Yates was investigating the incident at home all afternoon."
Ashley's eyes lit up. "What did he find out?"
"It's hard to explain over the phone. How about I come to the hospital and tell you in person?"
"Okay, please come as soon as possible."
After the call, Ashley felt a mix of emotions.
"I can't believe so much happened today. I was being chased, and the Yates family had a big incident. How could it be such a coincidence?"
Ashley couldn't figure out who would be so malicious.
Ryan and Pauline exchanged glances.
Ryan asked, "Ashley, have you offended anyone recently?"
Ashley shook her head.
Pauline said, "Ashley is always low-key and avoids trouble. She wouldn't offend anyone."
Ashley's eyes flashed. "When I was struggling with the thug, I questioned him. He seemed to be hired by someone, and that person might be..."
The three of them said in unison, "Who?"
Ashley shook her head, not mentioning Ava's name.
"I have a suspect, but no evidence. If there's proof, this matter would be confirmed."
"Let's wait for Thomas. Maybe he has important information."
Ashley nodded. "Okay."
But her bad feeling grew stronger, and she wanted to see Ethan immediately.
She didn't know where Ethan was or how he'd react when he found out what happened to her.
Soon, Thomas arrived at the hospital.
"Mrs. Yates."
"Thomas, please sit down. Mr. Reid is here too. Tell us everything you know."
Ryan was Ethan's friend and a police officer, so Thomas trusted him.
However, Thomas looked at Pauline and Alex and hesitated. "Mrs. Yates, should we ask them to step out?"
Sensing his concern, Ashley said, "Thomas, they're all my friends. It's okay, go ahead."
Only then did Thomas reveal everything.
After hearing it, the room grew tense.
"So, Ethan suspects Ava did something to the Yates family, causing Grandpa and Grandma to end up in the hospital?"
Thomas nodded. "Yes, but there's no evidence."
"Did Ethan say where he was going when he left?"
Thomas thought for a moment. "He said Ava asked to meet him, so he went."
Ashley's heart sank. "Oh no, that's terrible..."
