Chapter 306 Is Nora Ethan's Child?
The doorbell rang in Yara's room. She was still in the kitchen, wrapping up dinner, and hollered, "Nora, can you get the door?"
Nora, rocking her cute slippers, dashed to the door. Peeking through the peephole, she saw it was Ashley. Her face lit up with joy as she swung the door open and chirped, "Ashley, how'd you know we live here?"
Nora's beaming smile was a dead giveaway of how much she adored Ashley.
Ashley froze.
The little girl in front of her might be Ethan's kid. She looked so innocent, totally clueless that she had taken her daddy away.
Ashley's heart ached, and she couldn't shake the guilt.
"Ashley, what's wrong?" Nora asked cautiously, noticing Ashley's cold expression. "Why do you look unhappy?"
Turning her head, she spotted Liam nearby, "Liam, you're here."
Liam nodded, "Yeah."
"Nora, who is it?" Yara's hands were still wet, and she was wearing an apron. When she walked to the door and saw the two of them, her expression got a bit complicated. "Mrs. Yates is here. Why are you standing at the door? Come in and sit."
Ashley hesitated for a moment before stepping inside.
Nora tugged at Liam and asked, "Liam, why does Ashley look so unhappy?"
Liam shrugged, "No clue."
Yara said, "Mrs. Yates, you haven't had dinner yet, right? I'm just cooking. Wanna join us?"
Ashley replied, "No need to trouble yourself. I'm here to ask you something."
Yara said, "Hold on a sec."
She went back to the kitchen, turned off the stove, and then sat across from Ashley. Seeing Ashley's serious expression, she asked cautiously, "Mrs. Yates, what's up?"
Ashley looked at Nora, her heart softening. She said, "Liam, take Nora away for a bit."
"Okay." Liam realized it was serious and took Nora to the bedroom. But Nora, curious as ever, convinced Liam to eavesdrop at the door with her.
"Mrs. Yates, if there's something you need to say, just spit it out," Yara said.
Ashley pulled a document out of her bag and tossed it on the table, saying coldly, "Take a look."
Yara looked at her suspiciously, picked up the paternity test report, and was shocked, "Nora is Ethan's kid?"
No way!
Before she could finish speaking, Nora burst out excitedly, "Mommy, what did you say? My daddy is Ethan?"
Liam also rushed out, looking even more excited than Nora. He grabbed Nora's shoulders and asked excitedly, "Is this true? Nora is Ethan's kid?"
Yara was dumbfounded.
Liam urged, "What's going on? Spill it!"
Ashley blinked, confused by the situation.
As the injured party, she had just learned this shocking news and was heartbroken. But why was Liam so excited? Was he standing up for Ashley?
Yara looked back and forth between Liam and Ashley, stammering, "I don't know what to say."
Ashley asked coldly, "Ms. Lopez, I want to know if this is true. Did you date Ethan back then and secretly have his kid? So, what are you planning to do next? Use the kid to push me out?"
Yara was stunned.
She looked at the paternity test report in her hand, thinking it must be a mistake. But the kid's father...
Yara glanced at Liam with a complicated expression, then made up her mind and said, "Yes, Nora is Ethan's kid. I never dated Ethan. I had the kid secretly, and he doesn't know!"
Hearing this, Ashley felt like her heart was being cut with a knife.
Yara bit her lip and said, "Mrs. Yates, don't worry. We won't threaten your position. If you don't want to see us, we can leave."
Ashley gave a self-mocking smile.
She couldn't believe it was true!
Ashley asked, "When did this happen, and why did you hide it from Ethan?"
Yara's eyes flickered. "It was at the college graduation party. He drank too much, and after a one-night stand, I got pregnant. I couldn't bear to abort the kid, so I secretly gave birth."
Yara sneaked a glance at Liam, seeing his fierce expression, and quickly lowered her head in fear.
Ashley's heart ached. She rubbed her temples, feeling a headache coming on.
Ashley said, "You can't go anywhere now."
Yara looked at Ashley in surprise.
Ashley said coldly, "You should wait for Ethan to come back. Let him handle this himself!"
With that, she got up and left.
Liam followed her, glancing at Yara before leaving. "Do you like Ethan so much that you secretly had his kid?"
Yara lowered her head, feeling guilty, "Yes."
Liam, heartbroken, slammed the door and left.
Nora walked up to her, emotionally asking, "Mommy, is Ethan really my daddy?"
Yara hugged Nora and cried, "Nora, I'm sorry. I lied."
