Chapter 491 The Children Acknowledge Me
Ethan's flirtatious words made Ashley blush. Something crossed her mind, prompting her to feign indifference.
"Not at all," she said coolly.
Ethan felt a pang in his heart and smiled wryly. "Such a hard-hearted woman. But I've missed you."
He adjusted his position to sit beside Ashley, his arm around her shoulders in a near embrace. Ashley tried to shift away uncomfortably, but he gently yet firmly drew her into his arms.
"You really didn't miss me?" he asked softly.
"No. I've been in too much pain to think about you."
"Where does it hurt?"
Ethan examined Ashley's wounds, particularly the severe one on her arm that had been treated but still looked alarming. While most people would have recoiled at the sight, Ethan felt only concern.
"Does your hand hurt?"
"Yes," Ashley whispered.
"Let me massage it for you."
With that, Ethan carefully began massaging Ashley's hand, taking great care to avoid her injuries. His gentle, attentive touch made Ashley's heart race.
She then changed the subject, "You must be exhausted after taking the children to the amusement park today. Looking after kids is more tiring than office work."
"Not at all," Ethan said. "They're so lively and adorable. They're full of energy, but I'm not exactly weak either. After spending so much time in the office, playing with them is actually a welcome change."
As he continued the massage, he asked, "Is this pressure alright?"
Ashley kept her head down to hide her flushed face. "Yes, it's fine."
"Did the children enjoy themselves today?"
"Very much." Ethan's eyes lit up. "You know what? Andy and Nate called me 'Daddy' today."
Ashley looked up in surprise. "What? What else did they say?"
Her heart pounded rapidly.
Had the children revealed everything after just one trip to the amusement park?
"Why are you so nervous? Their calling me 'Daddy' means they accept me. I told them I'm pursuing you, and they actually cheered me on." Ethan smiled mischievously. "Now that I have the children's approval, I can court you more boldly."
Ashley was speechless, her heart trembling slightly.
She had been frightened that the children might have revealed they were Ethan's biological sons, but from his tone, it seemed they hadn't let it slip. But of course, the kids naturally warmed up to their real dad—they'd agreed so easily!
Ashley felt a twinge of jealousy. "Is that so..."
"What's wrong? You look jealous."
"I'm not jealous."
"Yes, you are," Ethan laughed. "I can tell."
He leaned forward and placed a gentle kiss on her lips.
Ashley blushed furiously and glared at him. "You scoundrel!"
Ethan started massaging her shoulders. "Your muscles must be stiff from lying down so long. Let me work on them while I tell you all about our day at the amusement park..."
Although Ashley had been angry, Ethan's gentle touch and enthusiastic stories about the children's day gradually soothed her irritation.
The Grayson Mansion
Nate sat deep in thought, sucking on a lollipop.
Andy, emerging from his bath, noticed his brother's expression. "Nate, what's wrong?"
"Andy, remember when I told you today at the amusement park that I thought I saw that con man who tried to trick me before?"
"Yes, I remember."
"The more I think about it, the more suspicious it seems. How could it be a coincidence that the same bad man appeared at the amusement park? He seemed to be targeting us specifically!" Nate stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Think carefully—wasn't that man walking toward us when Daddy suddenly appeared, and then he ran away?"
Andy pondered this. "I think that's exactly what happened!"
"That bad man was definitely coming for us. Strange—what did we ever do to him?"
"Whatever the reason, it can't be good. Nate, we need to stay close to the adults and not wander off. If we're alone, we'll just give him an opportunity."
Nate nodded seriously. "Agreed."
"Oh, and Andy, there's something else I forgot to tell you the other night."
"What is it?"
"I went to pee and overheard two men talking. One of them was pretending to be Asclepius! I saw him taking money from someone—he's definitely a fraud!"
"Impersonating Asclepius?" Andy considered this. "Asclepius is Mommy's friend. Impersonating Mommy's friend to scam people is like using Mommy's name to cheat. Next time we see that con man, we'll teach him a lesson!"
Nate nodded. "I still remember exactly what that scammer looks like."
"Well, let's put that aside for now. Our most important mission is to get Daddy and Mommy together!"
"How do we do that?"
"Like this..."
Andy leaned forward and whispered something into Nate's ear.
Azure Palace
Ethan continued massaging Ashley, moving from her shoulders down to her back. Ashley, initially sitting upright, eventually lay face down on the bed.
As Ethan's hands moved across Ashley's body, his breathing quickened and his eyes grew intense with desire.
