Chapter 71 Do You Love Him?
In Ethan's mind, Ashley was a mix of gentle and wild. But he'd never seen her act so pretentious before.
Ethan's lips curled up as he lifted her chin. "What's going on in that head of yours? Spill it, hmm?"
He just couldn't wrap his head around women's thoughts.
Ashley snorted, slapped his hand away, and turned her face. "Nothing. Weren't you going to order food? I want Chinese."
Ethan squinted, studying her. 'What’s she mad about now?'
Did he say something wrong?
He racked his brain but couldn't figure out what he'd done to upset her.
He'd even put work aside to take care of her. What more did she want?
Ethan was a genius in business, but clueless about women.
"Alright, I'll go order the food," he said.
He stepped out to make the call, and Ashley, still fuming, grabbed her phone and posted on Facebook: [Sombody has got to be more sensitive!]
Comments and likes started pouring in immediately.
Before she could read them, a message popped up.
[Ms. Wilson, are you back in Aivalia?]
It was from Alex.
[Yeah, I'm back,] she replied.
[That Facebook post, was it about you or someone else?] Alex asked.
[My husband, of course,] she complained. [He's great in every way, but he's not sensitive to my feelings. I almost had a miscarriage, and I was so scared, but all he cared about was the baby!]
He didn't even think about her well-being. Unforgivable!
Alex sent a hug emoji: [Is the baby okay? Which hospital are you in? I'll come visit right away.]
Ashley was thinking it over when Ethan came back in. "Ashley, I'm going out to buy something. Don't move around. I'll be right back."
"Okay."
As soon as he left, she replied, [Room 810 at Haven Hospital.]
Alex: [Got it! Be there soon.]
Ten minutes later, Alex walked in with flowers and fruit.
"Ms. Wilson, are you alright?"
"I'm fine."
Ashley tried to sit up, and Alex quickly helped her. She'd been lying down all day, and her back was stiff. Alex, reading her mind, brought a pillow to support her back. "Is this better? Need a massage?"
Ashley waved him off. "No, thanks. I didn't expect you to visit."
If Alex hadn't messaged her, she would've forgotten about him.
Alex looked at her deeply. "You're a friend. When a friend is hurt, I visit."
"It's been a while. Did you miss me, Ms. Wilson?"
She looked puzzled.
Seeing her hesitation, Alex awkwardly added, "Just kidding. My dog Bubby always runs to your house. It misses you."
Ashley sighed in relief. "Really? Once I'm out, I'll go walk it with you."
That scared her. She thought Alex had feelings for her.
Alex looked a bit let down. "Alright."
"Ms. Wilson, you were complaining about your husband. When you say he's insensitive, is it because you don't know him well?"
Ashley thought for a moment and nodded.
They hadn't known each other long, so they didn't understand each other well.
Alex cautiously asked, "Then... do you love him?"
'Does she love Ethan?' Ashley seriously considered it, not noticing Ethan standing at the door, listening to every word.
He was waiting for her answer.
