Chapter 161 Clutch Assist
Ivy awkwardly smiled. "Had enough dinner? There's still fruit and dessert. Please, sit and enjoy."
Ivy couldn't afford a confrontation with Ethan. She shot Catherine a look. Catherine got the hint.
"Yes, yes, everyone, please sit. I'll go cut some fruit," Catherine said.
Ethan and George sat across from each other, with Ashley next to Ethan. They chatted while Ivy pulled Catherine into the kitchen.
"Catherine, how did Ashley bribe you? Are you teaming up with her to bully me?" Ivy asked.
Catherine felt torn. She had no beef with Ashley and was only helping Ivy. But after getting a gift from Ashley, she didn't want to cause trouble. But Still, Ivy's questioning made her uneasy.
After thinking it over, Catherine said, "Don't worry, Ivy. I have other ways to deal with her. Ethan is such a big shot, yet he's willing to go to such lengths to take care of his family. He's truly a rare breed, a good man in every sense of the word. But then again, even the best man gets tired of a woman who's too much trouble. Just wait..."
Catherine whispered something to Ivy, making her more excited and happy.
"Alright, I'll do as you say," Ivy agreed.
They happily went to cut fruit.
Meanwhile...
Samantha and Liam were having dinner at a mall restaurant. While waiting for their food, Liam looked at Samantha, wanting to say something but hesitating. Samantha, focused on her phone, didn't notice.
Liam finally asked, "Ms. Zook, what's so interesting?"
"Reading the news," Samantha replied. "Ashley and Ethan are in the headlines again."
"Let me see."
Liam, very interested in Ashley, leaned in to look at her phone when she placed it on the table. The angle was uncomfortable, so he moved to sit next to Samantha.
"Isn't it the mall we are in? When did they come here?"
"How would I know?"
Seeing the intimate pictures of Ethan and Ashley, Samantha clicked her tongue. "Didn't expect Ethan to be so good at taking care of his wife. If I found a husband like him, I'd be thrilled."
Liam stared deeply at her. "A good girl like you can definitely find an even better husband..."
Like him, for example, but he kept that to himself.
Hearing this, a trace of sadness flashed in Samantha's eyes. "What's so good about me? The incident from that night hasn't been cleared up yet. What guy would accept me?"
Liam wanted to comfort her but held back. It was Landon who had been with her that night. If Samantha became his sister-in-law, saying such things would be terrible.
"Ms. Zook, do you... like Landon?" Liam asked cautiously, feeling both hopeful and fearful.
Samantha rolled her eyes. "Landon's old-before-his-time demeanor? I'd have to be crazy to like him."
Liam sighed in relief and couldn't help but smile.
Samantha didn't notice his joy. Remembering the conversation between the two brothers in the hallway, she weighed her thoughts and asked, "I overheard your conversation at the hospital about your sister. Did you say she has a family heirloom blue sapphire necklace? If you find Ashley has that necklace, Landon will do another DNA test with Ashley, right?"
Liam nodded. "Yes, why do you ask?"
Samantha's eyes flashed. "After dinner, come with me to Ashley's private apartment. I remember she has a blue sapphire necklace in her safe..."
