Chapter 100 Harmony's Ex-Fiancé

This handsome man appeared to be in his late twenties, exceptionally good-looking with an air of confidence and arrogance. He was dressed in expensive designer clothes, clearly indicating that he was a wealthy heir.

Following him were two burly men, their strong muscles stretching their suits, sharp-eyed and skilled, perhaps the most formidable individuals James had encountered in the past five years.

This indicated that the identity of this handsome man was not of an ordinary person.

Soon, he approached Harmony and gazed at her flawless face with a mix of surprise and admiration. "Harmony, I heard that your strange illness has been cured. This is truly wonderful!" he exclaimed as he reached out to hold Harmony's hand.

Startled, Harmony instinctively stepped back, avoiding the man's touch.

"Mr. Perry, please behave and refrain yourself," Harmony cautioned then took a deep breath, suppressing her emotions, and stared at the man expressionlessly.

However, her slightly heaving chest and rapid breath betrayed her true feelings.

There was a story between Harmony and this handsome man.

James immediately realized this. He recalled the incident when Harmony's fiancé came to call off the engagement while he was treating her. It seemed his surname was Perry. It appeared that this handsome man was Harmony's fiancé, otherwise, her emotions wouldn't have been so intense.

Jared gazed affectionately at Harmony. "Harmony, I know you're upset with me, but it's all a misunderstanding. I love you so much, how could I ever break off our engagement? Harmony, trust me, I truly love you," he coaxed, sweetly.

Jared was quite the actor, sounding so genuine. If James hadn't caught the cunning glint in his eyes, he too might have been deceived.

James considered advising Harmony but held back. This was her own business, and as an outsider, he had no right to meddle.

Harmony's breath quickened as she stared at the incredibly handsome Jared. Her emotions were complex, but strangely, the intense love she once felt seemed to have turned into anger.

She couldn't forget Jared's reaction when he found out about her strange illness—disgust masked by surprise. And when she needed him the most, he abandoned her to go abroad.

Despite everything, she hadn't lost hope in Jared because she loved him deeply. However, that night when Jared called off the engagement, it shattered her heart completely. When he called off the engagement, he didn't even come over to personally break off the engagement but sent two lackeys with the breakup letter instead.

From that moment on, she saw Jared's true colors. His sweet words and promises were all faked, and he was only attracted by her appearance.

"Is that so? It seems I've misunderstood you," Harmony said with a faked smile.

Jared was delighted and quickly responded, "Yes, Harmony, it was all a misunderstanding."
As he spoke, his eyes roamed over Harmony, feeling regretful. If he had known her strange illness could be cured, he would never have broken off the engagement.

"Harmony, it's been so long, I've missed you terribly. This isn't the place to talk. Shall we find somewhere quiet to chat? What do you say?" Jared suggested as he reached out to hold Harmony's hand, but she still pulled back, denying him the chance to do so.
.
Jared felt even more frustrated at being rebuffed.

"No need, there's nothing left to discuss between us," Harmony regained her composure, concealing her complex emotions, and then said to James, "Let's go back."

James sighed inwardly. Harmony was using him as a shield again!

Just as he was about to refuse, he saw Harmony biting her lip, her eyes pleading with him not to intervene. At that moment, James relented and tacitly accepted Harmony's actions.

Jared finally noticed James and glared at him. "Who are you?" he asked, arrogantly.

His two bodyguards also stepped forward, eyeing James menacingly, exerting pressure.

Harmony stepped in. She reprimanded him, "He's my friend; why did you talk to him so harshly?"

Jared snorted, "Harmony, there are many bad people out there. This guy looks shady and definitely up to no good. Don't let him deceive you."

He then pointed at James, threatening, "Kid, I don't care who you are. If you have any ill intentions towards Harmony, you better leave now, or I'll make sure you regret it! You got it?"

Jared, full of arrogance, stared down James, issuing commands in a very unpleasant manner.

Harmony frowned at this behavior. How did she not realize earlier how detestable Jared was?

James chuckled. He replied, indifferently, "You're speaking so loudly, it's hard not to get your meaning."

Jared's face darkened. He said, condescendingly, "You have some nerve, daring to defy me? Do you know who I am?"

At this point, Harmony found Jared to be even more distasteful. A thought crossed her mind, and she said to Jared, "Jared, do you truly still love me?"

Jared was taken aback but quickly nodded, and claimed, "Of course! If I don't love you, who else would I love?"

Harmony once again evaded his grasp, took a deep breath, and put on a sorrowful yet touched expression, gazing deeply at Jared. She spoke ever so sweetly, "That's the answer I want to hear. Jared. I knew you loved me! I knew you wouldn't give up on me even if my disease couldn't be cured."

Jared sensed something amiss and cautiously asked, "Wait, your illness, hasn't it been cured yet?"

Harmony nodded vigorously, looking deeply saddened. She said in a remorseful tone, "Alas, the doctor said my illness is incurable. Some of the scales are deeply rooted and can never be shed, and I've lost the ability to be a woman.

"I didn't dare tell you, fearing you'd despise me. Jared, since you still love me, let's get married. You won't mind that I can't fulfill your needs in that part, right?"

Upon hearing this, Jared's mouth twitched, and he chuckled awkwardly, evading the topic as he looked around. His gaze towards Harmony had changed.
