Chapter 147: Distributor Mr. Jordan
James was taken aback and said, "Why would I be nice to other women for no reason?"
Jennifer was displeased and said, "Then why were you so nice to that timid saleswoman and insisted that she be the one to process your order?"
She didn't realize that her expression and tone showed a hint of jealousy, something she had never shown before.
"Jennifer, are you jealous?" James said with a smile.
Jennifer was agitated and said, "Who? Who's jealous? Don't flatter yourself! This is ridiculous. I'm going back!"
James laughed, surprised to see such a cute side of Jennifer. He grabbed her and explained, "What are you thinking? I just thought she seemed genuine and not as snobbish as the other salespeople, so I asked her to process the order. Besides, how could she compare to you?"
"What are you doing? Let go of me." Jennifer pretended to be angry and tried to break free from James, but her strength was weak, like that of a kitten. She didn't seem angry; instead, she seemed to be acting coy.
James chuckled, feeling that he and Jennifer were starting to act more like a normal married couple.
Looking at James's mischievous smile, Jennifer felt that James had changed. The past James would stay silent even when bullied. But now, he was no longer timid; he had not only become more capable but also more cheerful and confident.
If they hadn't been together every day, Jennifer would have suspected that her husband had been replaced by someone else.
She pulled off the thought about James, starting to examine her necklace.
This Heart of the Sea necklace was too dazzling, drawing envious glances wherever they went. Paired with Jennifer's stunning beauty, it was exceptionally beautiful.
Faced with these glances, Jennifer was happy but also a bit embarrassed. The necklace was too dazzling for her; she didn't want to show off, so she took it off and put it back in its box.
Next, they visited some famous local attractions, which was James' suggestion.
Comparing James's enjoying travel, Jennifer was more concerned about the distributor. Since resigning, she felt uneasy with so much free time and wanted to keep busy. Moreover, she knew that running her clinic had put her under a lot of pressure; many people thought she wasn't capable enough and that it would soon fail.
So deep down, she cared a lot about this cooperation opportunity. She wanted to prove to everyone that even if she left the hospital, she could stand on her own.
James knew exactly what Jennifer was thinking, but he thought being anxious wouldn't help. He thought that the more anxious she was, the more mistakes she would make.
That evening, in the office of Apricot Grove Hall, two men were sitting. One of them, with a bruised face and messy hair, was pouring tea for the other, Alan Jordan.
"Loren, what happened to your face? Did you get into a fight?" Alan took a sip of tea and looked at him with a strange expression.
Sure enough, the bruised and disheveled man was Loren.
He had a terrible day. Not only was he humiliated by James, but Barbara also discovered that he had a mistress, leading to a big fight. Susan didn't know he was married, and when she found out she was the other woman, she also started hitting him. The two women teamed up and beat him until he was bruised and battered. It even escalated to the police station. If it weren't for his connections, he wouldn't have been able to get out tonight.
Loren thought all of this was James's fault. If he hadn't spent so much time buying jewelry, Loren wouldn't have been seen by Susan, and the whole consequence wouldn't have happened.
"Don't even mention it, I had the worst luck today!" Loren said, full of frustration, with a hint of resentment in his eyes.
"What happened? Were you set up?" Alan asked curiously.
Loren shook his head, too embarrassed to explain. After all, it wasn't something to be proud of. But then he suddenly became aware of Otis's identity and had a brilliant idea. He said, "Mr. Jordan, I just wanted to ask for a favor. If two people named Jennifer and James come to you for a partnership, please reject it."
Mr. Jordan was the distributor of Loren's clinic and the largest pharmaceutical distributor in Pearl Peak City. He was a monopoly. His products were high quality and reasonably priced, but most importantly, he had secret bonds with the government. So he could deal with many pharmacy accidents. All the clinics in Pearl Peak City were willing to work with him.
"Are these two your enemies?" Alan asked.
Loren didn't deny it and said, "Not really. The more important thing is that these two have poor medical skills. They think they can open a clinic just because they have some money, but their reputation in the industry is so bad. Recently, they've approached several distributors, but none of them are willing to work with them. Since we're on good terms, I thought I'd give you a heads-up."
Alan was a smart man and understood Loren's implication. He smiled and nodded, saying, "Don't worry, these two are now on my blacklist."
"I’ll express my gratitude beforehand," Loren said with a smile, standing up to pour tea for Otis. He smirked, feeling triumphant.
'James, so what if you have money? With my word, you won't find a distributor in Pearl Peak City!' Loren laughed secretly.
After chatting a bit more, Alan said, "Loren, my daughter's illness has relapsed. The medicine you prepared last time didn't work well."
Loren paused slightly while drinking his tea and said with some difficulty, "Mr. Jordan, to be honest, your daughter's condition is quite special. It will take some time to cure."
A hint of sadness flashed in Otis's eyes, but he then stared intently at Loren and said, "Loren, we've known each other for a long time, so I'll be straightforward. If you can cure my daughter, I won't make a single penny from you for the next three years. No matter how expensive medicine you order, I'll give it to you at the cost price."
Hearing this, Loren was so excited that he spilled the hot tea on his hand, burning himself, but he didn't care at all. He widened his eyes and stared at Otis. "Mr. Jordan, are you serious?"
He couldn't help but be excited. Getting supplies at a cost price for the next three years would save him a lot of money. Most importantly, Otis's promise meant that he would soon be rich by reselling the medicine to other clinics.
