Chapter 241 Pride

"Hello, everyone. My name is James, and I am a doctor."

James began speaking with a smile. Despite his ordinary appearance, his voice was magnetic, almost magical, calming everyone who heard it.

"Continuing from my previous question, does winning that matter? Many people might think it does. This world is full of competition, and everywhere we go, we have to distinguish between winners and losers. Today's conference, when it was first established twenty-five years ago, was merely a simple gathering organized by a group of doctors who didn't care about winning or losing but wanted to improve their medical skills through exchange. However, as it developed, the conference has completely changed, becoming a competition with capital injection, where winning and losing are paramount."

"More and more people are becoming disillusioned with doctors, thinking they are frauds. But as you all saw from the performances of the dozen or so doctors earlier, we are not that detestable."

Everyone fell into deep thought upon hearing James' words.

James continued. "Medical skills require doctors to accumulate experience. We need to constantly learn new knowledge and more medical-related information to treat patients more effectively."

"But why is it that in modern times, especially in recent years, people have become afraid to trust doctors? I think this is a question we need to reflect on."

James discussed the issue from an objective perspective, with clear reasoning and rigorous logic.

After finishing, James bowed deeply to the audience.

There was no applause this time; everyone was still contemplating James' words.

Indeed, most people present had heard a lot of derogatory remarks about doctors online and from friends and family. Some had even made such remarks themselves.

They hadn’t truly understood the struggle that doctors were going through; many times, they were just blindly following the crowd, even accusing doctors.

But now, after hearing James' speech and watching the entire conference, they realize their previous views were wrong.

At this point, the crowd found that winning or losing no longer mattered.

Seeing the audience's reaction, Nathaniel's face turned grim. He stared at James with hatred, almost loathing.

To him, everything had been going smoothly today, with modern medicine set to be the big winner and traditional medicine on the verge of decline. But James' appearance had ruined his plans!

Unwilling to give up, he tried to make a touch speech like James, but his words, filled with slander against traditional medicine, had no effect.

Instead, many in the audience began to recognize his true nature, finding him despicable.

The conference concluded perfectly, arguably the most exciting and meaningful one ever, leaving a lasting impression.

James, especially, had already become a hero in many hearts.

As the event ended, James was surrounded by people asking for autographs, mostly young women, making him feel helpless and prompting him to leave quickly.

Back at the hotel where they had initially gathered, a dozen doctors sincerely apologized to James, making him feel flustered.

"Mr. Smith, we owe you a great deal!" Edwin said with immense gratitude.

James replied. "Dr. Wheeler, you're giving me too much credit."

Edwin smiled slightly, then sighed. "It's a pity that there are not many outstanding young doctors like you."

The other doctors nodded in agreement.

James, however, was not so pessimistic. He said, "Rest assured! After today's events, I believe more and more young people will be willing to study medicine diligently."

"Let's hope so." Edwin said.

James then prepared to attend the celebration banquet with Edwin and the others when he received a call from Jennifer.

"Hello, Jennifer?"

But there was no sound on the other end, making James puzzled.

'Was there no signal?' he thought.

"Hello, Jennifer, can you hear me?" he said.

After a few more seconds of silence, just as James was about to hang up, Jennifer's voice came through. "Jame, well done. All the events I had watched on TV! I'm very proud of you."

James was stunned, almost thinking he had misheard.

'Jennifer actually said she was proud of me?' he exclaimed inwardly.

Considering they had been married for so long, Jennifer had been proud of him.

So, for a moment, moving by her words, James indulged in happiness and couldn't speak.
