Chapter 417 The Most Powerful Family in Sunridge City: The Jenkins Family

"Seriously, I'm not kidding. James is really something. Even the big shots in the Lindwood City respect him," Dennis said, trying to sound convincing.

Valor shot him a cold look, his voice dripping with disdain, "After all these years, you still haven't changed. Even a kid wouldn't buy what you're selling!"

Dennis's face fell, and he looked down, feeling a wave of sadness. The sting of being looked down on and abandoned by Valor hit him hard, making him feel cold and breathless.

Jennifer clenched her teeth, feeling just as upset. Memories of being bullied as a kid came flooding back, making her emotions run wild.

She usually kept her cool, but facing the Johnson family and Valor, she couldn't hold back her anger. It was like they knew exactly how to push her buttons.

"James, can you call the most powerful person in Sunridge City and get them to come over?" Jennifer asked, her eyes red and her chest heaving with anger.

Jennifer was beyond furious. The Johnson family's attitude had been provoking her from the start, and she desperately wanted to put them in their place.

James didn't answer right away, not because he was unsure, but because he was thinking about who the most powerful family in Sunridge City was.

Was it the Jenkins family? He wasn't sure. Emberlyn wasn't from Sunridge City, so she wouldn't be any help. If she saw Jennifer, she'd probably be jealous.

But the Johnson family saw James's thoughtful look as a sign of weakness, and they started mocking him. To them, Dennis's son-in-law looked like a poor guy who couldn't even hold down a job. How could he possibly call the most powerful person in Sunridge City? It was laughable.

Molly sneered, "Wow, you're something else. One phone call and you can get the most powerful person in Sunridge City to come over? I'm shaking in my boots."

"Yeah, even our Johnson family can't pull that off. And you, a nobody, think you can? You've been reading too many novels!"

"Since he's so sure, let him make the call. Just so you know, the most powerful family in Sunridge City is the Jenkins family. Go ahead, call someone from the Jenkins family. We won't make it too hard for you. You don't need to get Derek, just any Jenkins will do. How about that?"

James was surprised. He knew the Jenkins family was big in Starlight State, but he didn't realize they were in Sunridge City too.

It just so happened that the Jenkins family owed him a favor. Calling Derek shouldn't be a problem. If that didn't work, he could ask Derek to send someone else from the Jenkins family to put the Johnson family in their place.

Jennifer asked anxiously, "James, do you know anyone from the Jenkins family?"

James nodded, "Yeah, I saved Derek's life once."

Jennifer wasn't feeling too confident. Even if James was a big deal in Lindwood City, this was Starlight State, far from Serenity State. No matter how powerful James was, it was hard to have such a wide reach.

She had momentarily forgotten that James came from a prominent family in the City of Mysteries and didn't have much self-assurance. But when she heard that James had saved Derek's life, her eyes lit up with admiration, and she exclaimed excitedly, "Babe, you're amazing! Call Derek and get him over here. I defy anyone to accuse us of lying later."

Their voices weren't exactly quiet, so everyone heard them. Dennis and Kaitlyn were stunned. They hadn't really believed that James knew someone from the Jenkins family. But now, hearing that James had saved Derek's life, they couldn't help but get excited.

Dennis, especially, was over the moon, his eyes shining with the urge to cry. He had endured so much humiliation from the Johnson family and more than anyone, he longed to hold his head high in front of them.

Now James was making that wish come true. How could he not be excited?

But when James pulled out his phone, he suddenly remembered that Derek had given him his contact info, but he hadn't saved it because he didn't take it seriously at the time.

And Walter, he didn't even remember. This was a bit awkward.

"Uh, I forgot to save Derek's number," James said, scratching his head awkwardly.

The Johnson family members, who had started to feel uneasy, thinking James really knew Derek, relaxed and burst into laughter when they heard this.

"So lame an excuse."

"What a fool! I even thought he had some skills. Turns out I was overthinking it."

"You're so naive to believe it. Anyone with a bit of sense would know that a poor guy like him couldn't possibly know Derek. What a joke! He looks like a country pumpkin."

"Yeah, Derek is the head of the Jenkins family! A general who's fought in wars, with significant power in Sunridge City and a big shot in the entire Starlight State. Does he need to be saved? Even if this guy was lucky enough to save Derek's life, wouldn't he be rolling in dough? Following Derek, would he still be wearing clothes worth only a few hundred bucks? And saying he didn't save Derek's contact info, isn't that a joke?"

"What's his name? Moron more like it."

The Johnson family members started mocking James without holding back.

Dennis and Jennifer also became targets of their ridicule, with each comment more hurtful than the last.

Jennifer was really upset and a bit angry. She pinched James hard and said angrily, "James, what are you doing? Didn't you say you saved Derek's life? How could you not remember his number?"

James smiled wryly, "I didn't take that favor seriously, so I didn't bother to remember it."

"What do we do now?" Jennifer was very anxious.
