Chapter 611 The Smith Estate

When Harmony saw James, her heart noticeably sped up, and she was extremely surprised. She had only informed Jennifer about her trip to the City of Mysteries and hadn't told James. Now that James had come to pick her up, it showed that he still cared about her.

Thinking about this, Harmony felt as if her heart was filled with honey, incredibly sweet.

During this time, Harmony missed James like crazy, but she held back from reaching out like she used to. Part of it was the fear of annoying him, but mostly, it was because Jennifer had spilled the beans about James's real identity. The gap between them now was so huge it knocked the wind out of her confidence. She didn't feel like the same bold, headstrong girl she used to be—instead, she felt small, almost unworthy.

Honestly, finding out who James really was hit her harder than she expected. Back when she was the one with the upper hand, he'd barely given her the time of day. Now that he was a Smith—a name that carried weight and legacy—she figured he'd just write her off completely.

But Harmony couldn't suppress her feelings for James. Besides James, she couldn't see any other man. She had tried to meet new men during this time, but it all failed. None of them were as outstanding as James, and she couldn't let go of him.

Now, Harmony was on a business trip to the City of Mysteries, and she wanted to take this opportunity to see James again, even if it was just once.

Harmony tried hard to suppress her excitement, put on a natural expression, walked up to James, and softly said, "Why did you come to pick me up?"

She found herself unprecedentedly nervous after saying this, her heart racing uncontrollably!

James could practically hear her heart racing, feel the mix of nerves and excitement radiating off her. He rubbed the back of his neck, a little amused but mostly caught off guard. Yeah, she was still into him—big time.

Still, after all this time apart, he couldn't deny he was glad to see her. She was a good friend, after all.

"What, you don't want me here?" he teased, a playful grin tugging at his lips.

"No, no, that's not what I meant!" Harmony hurriedly explained.

Seeing her flustered state, completely different from her previous arrogant self, James couldn't help but sigh. Love really could change a person.

"Let me help you with your luggage," James said to Harmony with a smile, taking her luggage from her. Hearing this, Harmony felt a surge of emotion and excitement, and her hand accidentally touched James's, making her blush even more.

"Th-thank you," Harmony said shyly to James.

James smiled slightly without responding, preparing to leave. Suddenly, he sensed something and frowned slightly.

At this moment, a voice came from behind, "Ms. Brown, is this your driver?"

Harmony turned around and saw the handsome young man from earlier, smiling at her.

Seeing him, Harmony frowned slightly, feeling a bit impatient. However, being well-mannered, she still smiled and said, "He's my good friend."

When she didn't say "boyfriend," relief flickered in the guy's eyes. So, she was still single. He turned to James, all businesslike. "I'm Rodolfo, heir to Golden Jewelry. And you are?"

Rodolfo's tone dripped with arrogance, like he was already one-upping James.

James just smirked. He'd stopped caring about that kind of nonsense ages ago. Competing with trust fund kids? Not even on his radar.

So he simply responded, "James Smith."

However, James's modesty appeared as inferiority in Rodolfo's eyes, making him smile even more brightly.

The sense of superiority in his expression grew stronger as he said, "My driver has brought the Maybach over. Ms. Brown, where are you headed? I'll take you there."

Harmony initially had a bit of a good impression of Rodolfo, thinking he was knowledgeable and cultured, unlike those shallow and vulgar rich second-generation heirs. But now, it seemed she had misjudged. This Rodolfo was no different and was far inferior to James.

Moreover, Harmony was originally a noble lady, and her family was worth several hundred billion dollars. Compared to her brother Michael's status, Rodolfo's family wealth was nothing.

So Harmony's expression turned cold as she said, "No need, James and I will go back ourselves."

Hearing James's name for the second time, Rodolfo was slightly stunned. It seemed familiar, but he couldn't recall where he had heard it.

After saying this, Harmony pulled James to leave.

However, James smiled and said, "Sure, that would be helpful."

Harmony was a bit dumbfounded. Why did James agree? Couldn't he see that Rodolfo was trying to show off in front of him?

Rodolfo was also taken aback. He didn't expect James to agree so readily. He thought James would refuse.

This made him even more confident. It seemed James was just an ordinary person and had no special relationship with Harmony. He still had a chance.

Rodolfo was truly smitten with Harmony at first sight. Not only was she beautiful, but she also had such an elegant demeanor, exuding the aura of a noble lady in every gesture. He was sure Harmony was also from a wealthy family. This made it even better.

"James," Harmony gave James a look, "Didn't you drive here? There's no need to trouble others, right?"

However, James seemed to ignore her look and said, "I didn't drive."

Rodolfo's smile grew even brighter as he said, "Ms. Brown, let me take you back."

Harmony couldn't understand James's thoughts. To be honest, she didn't want Rodolfo to take her back because it would kill her alone time with James. But James was insistent on Rodolfo taking them back, so she had no choice.

James could naturally see that Rodolfo was interested in Harmony, but it didn't matter to him. He hadn't driven here and didn't want to take a taxi. Now that there was a free driver, why not take advantage of it?

Outside the airport, they indeed saw a black, brand-new Mercedes Maybach, looking very grand.

Rodolfo's superior attitude became even more pronounced.

After getting in the car, he kept finding topics to chat with Harmony, every word revealing his superiority and arrogance, constantly boasting about his wealth and connections with important people.

Harmony was very impatient with this, responding perfunctorily. As for James, he didn't say much, listening to Rodolfo's bragging with interest.

After a while, James said, "This is my place."

The driver up front froze. "This is the Smith estate. You're not seriously saying you live here, are you?"
