Chapter 476 Silver Eagle Conference
Last night, James specifically treated Jeffery, performed acupuncture, and used his inner energy. After a night's rest, Jeffery's health had improved significantly. He no longer felt as weak as before and stepped with more strength. The most important change is in his mood. With James back, he no longer felt lonely. Although he still was a bit sorrow, his spirits had lifted considerably and he was no longer as depressed as before.
When they arrived, James took him to buy some expensive clothes and get a new hairstyle. Now, Jeffery looed much younger, no longer the old man he used to be.
"James, tonight is the Silver Eagle Conference. There will be a lot of people there, and this year's Silver Eagle Leader is Eli, Maurice's younger brother. Are we really going to take revenge on Lester tonight?" Jeffery asked worriedly.
Jeffery used to be in the industry himself, and although he wasn't very powerful, he understood the significance of the Silver Eagle Conference.
If James really crippled Lester and his men at the Silver Eagle Conference, the impact would be enormous.
James popped a piece of gum into his mouth, chewing as he smiled and said, "Don't worry, I know what I'm doing."
Although James said this, Jeffery still felt uneasy because he sensed that James's so-called "knowing what he's doing" might actually mean he didn't.
However, he could no longer concern himself with such matters; he was already here. Besides, given James's capabilities, what did it matter if they offended Eli or the Percy family? James had never been afraid of making enemies; he was the overlord of the City of Mysteries. If James restrained himself out of fear of Eli and refrained from confronting Lester, that would be entirely out of character for him.
With this, Jeffery felt more at ease.
However, he couldn't understand why James was dressed so low-key, wearing a hat and sunglasses, making himself look so inconspicuous.
Normally, James would make a grand entrance.
After swiping a $2 million card, James and Jeffery entered and officially joined the Silver Eagle Conference.
Indeed, many guests were present tonight, including quite a few reporters.
Soon, they spotted Lester, who was mingling with the crowd, chatting and laughi in a look of particularly smug.
Besides him, the bastards who had tormented Donna and Gregory back then also showed up. It saved James the trouble of tracking them down one by one.
When Jeffery saw Lester, his face were red with fury as he stared at Lester with hatred, wishing he could pounce on him and tear him apart.
James's reaction was much calmer. When he saw Lester, he merely squinted his eyes slightly, a flash of killing intent appearing before he concealed it.
Lester, who was chatting confidently with the crowd, suddenly felt a chill down his neck, and his heart started racing as if something terrifying was watching him, making him shiver. He instinctively turned around but saw nothing.
"What's the matter, Mr. Percy?" someone noticed Lester's unease and asked curiously.
Lester shook his head and said, "Nothing, let's go ahead."
James was present but kept a low profile, staying in a corner with Jeffery, eating and drinking while observing the crowd.
Jeffery couldn't fathom what James was thinking. Given James's temperament, shouldn't he have immediately gone over and beaten Lester the moment he saw him?
'It seems James has really changed, becoming more composed.' Jeffery thought.
Suddenly, James's eyes lit up as he looked in a direction and said with a smile, "Eli is here."
Jeffery followed James's gaze and indeed saw Eli walking in, surrounded by a dozen followers.
Many guests noticed Eli's arrival and put down what they were doing to greet him.
"Mr. Ward, you're here."
"Mr. Ward, your presence is even more commanding."
Most showed respect to Eli. Not only was he this year's Silver Eagle Leader, but as the second son of the Ward family and Maurice's younger brother, his status was more prestigious than anyone else present.
Lester was quite outstanding himself, but compared to Eli, he was far behind. He dared to compete for the Silver Eagle Leader position this year purely because he had Eli's permission. Otherwise, even five of him combined couldn't compete with Eli.
Lester stepped up to Eli and respectfully called out, "Mr. Ward."
Eli responded to everyone, but he patted Lester on the shoulder and said meaningfully, "Mr. Percy, you've made great progress in the past two years. Keep up the good work."
With this, Lester's face turned red with excitement, but he tried to remain calm and said with a smile, "Thank you, Mr. Ward, for your trust. I will do my best!"
Those around who heard their conversation had already guessed that if nothing unexpected happened, Lester would be this year's Silver Eagle Leader.
Many who came to compete for the position felt extremely displeased but didn't dare to show it. They could only harbor the suspicion that Lester and Eli must have engaged in some sordid deal.
James's gaze remained on Eli. After a few years, Eli had made such progress and his level was already at the third stage of martial arts.
Five years ago, Eli was only at the first stage and wasn't even worth James's attention.
It seemed his brother Maurice's level was even higher.
No wonder so many members from the Smith family didn't think highly of James this time.
In truth, James had no intention of seeking fame. If it weren't for avenging Donna and Gregory, he wouldn't have bothered to attend the Silver Eagle Conference. Previously, he had always held such gatherings in contempt.
Next was the charity gala, a segment with many reporters broadcasting live, which was a good gesture.
After an hour of the charity gala, the reporters gradually left, and the main event began.
The lighting changed, and several popular stars performed, with a great atmosphere.
Lester was in high spirits tonight, having consumed a excessive amount of alcohol. His entire body felt light and buoyant.
"You all think James will come seeking revenge tonight. Does he even dare?" Lester said, a smirk playing on his lips as he addressed those around him. "If he truly has the audacity to pop up, I'll ensure he never leaves."
His voice was a bit loud, catching the attention of many around him, who looked at him curiously.
'Is James really coming tonight?' they confused.
