Chapter 561 Where Exactly Did He Go
After careful consideration, James concluded that the most urgent task was to find Jennifer without delay and clear up the matter.
James hoped Jennifer just acted on impulse and was safe. Otherwise, James would be in pain for the rest of his life!
The National Security Agency's plane was fast. In less than two hours, it flew back to Lindwood City. After landing, James rushed home immediately. Downstairs, he met the National Security Agency agents guarding Jennifer's family. James first expressed his gratitude for their protection during this time and then got straight to the point, asking about the details of Jennifer's disappearance.
The agents were forthcoming with information.
Through questioning, James learned that just a few hours ago, Jennifer, Dennis, and Kaitlyn went out. The agents followed them but felt increasingly uneasy because Jennifer and her family were heading to areas with many alleys. According to their information, Jennifer's family had no friends or relatives in those places.
Finally, when they followed them into one of the alleys, several men in black popped up from all directions, surrounding them. These men were highly skilled fighters. The agents didn't even have time to send a signal before they were knocked out.
When they woke up, they found they were unharmed, just knocked unconscious.
They hurried back to Jennifer's residence, only to find it had been emptied, and Jennifer's family had vanished. They panicked. Their mission was to protect James's family, and now they had lost them. This was a serious matter!
They immediately called Clio to report the situation.
After hearing this, James furrowed his brows even deeper and muttered, "Jennifer, what happened? Why did you leave me in such a hurry?"
He still couldn't believe Jennifer left him voluntarily. He had seen her feelings for him over the past few days, especially during his disappearance. Jennifer had been deeply saddened, and it wasn't an act.
The only explanation was that Jennifer was forced to leave!
He had to find Jennifer.
James's mind worked quickly, and he soon thought of a key point. He asked, "Can we use the police system to pull up the surveillance footage?"
Clio nodded in agreement.
They immediately headed to the police station. After showing their credentials, they startled the police, who thought it was a major case.
The police treated them with the utmost respect, fearing any trouble.
After all, to the local police, the National Security Agency was untouchable.
Clio was adept at such tasks; after gaining control of the surveillance system, she immediately retrieved the relevant footage. As expected, it showed Jennifer, Dennis, and Kaitlyn leaving the house. Their expressions were notably grave, and they remained silent throughout. Jennifer's eyes were particularly red, a clear sign that she had been crying. Dennis and Kaitlyn also sighed repeatedly, as if they were parting with something dear.
With this, James clenched his fists.
Next, they saw the family heading to an industrial area, entering a residential area with many alleys. Then, eight masked men in black appeared, surrounding the National Security Agency agents. These men were highly skilled fighters and quickly knocked out the agents.
The subsequent footage made James spring to his feet. He watched as Jennifer, who had disappeared earlier, returned. She glanced at several unconscious National Security Agency members on the ground, sighed, and mouthed an apology before leaving with the men in black.
Dennis and Kaitlyn also got into a car.
This was a trap, designed by Jennifer or someone behind her, specifically to knock out the National Security Agency agents!
In the surveillance footage, Jennifer didn't look threatened; she seemed more willing, albeit sorrowful.
Then, Jennifer, Dennis, Kaitlyn, and the men in black returned home and quickly moved out.
They didn't take much, just a few suitcases.
James was stunned, unable to comprehend what Jennifer was doing.
There had been no warning signs.
Clio and the others were equally puzzled. As outsiders, they understood even less.
They wisely didn't interrupt James's thoughts, quietly watching him and waiting for him to speak.
With James's cold demeanor, they felt a bit uneasy.
After a while, James closed his eyes, then reopened them, regaining his composure. He asked, "Clio, do you have Yosef and Mason's addresses? I need to see them now."
Clio, being smart, had anticipated this. She asked, "Mr. Smith, do you suspect Mason and Yosef have taken Mrs. Smith?"
Instinctively, James felt this was unlikely, but rational analysis suggested it was the most probable.
Regardless of the outcome, he had to give it a try. If Mason and Yosef weren't the culprits, all the better. But if they were indeed responsible, James would make them regret ever being in this world.
James nodded, "Give me the address."
Seeing James so anxious, Clio suddenly envied Jennifer. To have the affection of such a powerful man like James was a blessing.
Two days ago, after witnessing James's heroic feat of taking on a thousand enemies alone, her admiration for him had only grown stronger.
In fact, many at the National Security Agency now admired James.
After all, this was a world that revered strength.
Suddenly, something occurring to James, and James made another call to Harmony.
As Jennifer's best friend, Harmony might know where Jennifer headed.
The call connected quickly, and Harmony's surprised yet deliberately calm voice came through, "James, why are you calling me? Aren't you afraid Jennifer will find out?"
With this, James's heart sank. He was almost certain Harmony didn't know Jennifer's whereabouts. If she did, she wouldn't have spoken like this.
He sighed heavily but still asked, harboring a sliver of hope, "Jennifer and her family disappeared three hours ago. Do you know where they went?"
