Chapter 423 Walter Arrives!

At the Johnson Family estate, James and his three families were surrounded by a bunch of burly young guys, all glaring daggers at him. Most people would be freaking out in this situation, but not James. He just calmly sipped his tea, not a hint of fear on his face.

Seeing James so chill made Jennifer and the others feel a bit better, though they were still pretty on edge.

Ezra and his crew were fuming at how cool James was acting, even with death staring him in the face. They looked like they wanted to rip him apart right then and there.

Especially Molly and a few others from the Johnson Family—they were absolutely livid.

"Ezra, your guys are here!" someone announced. Over twenty strong men marched in, lined up in front of Ezra, bowed, and shouted, "Ezra!"

The whole Johnson Family was stunned, even more in awe of Ezra. This guy was the real deal! Ethel's face lit up with joy, and she clung to Ezra's arm like she never wanted to let go.

Rhys and his wife were all smiles.

Ezra was feeling pretty smug. He was the king here, deciding who lived and who didn't.

He put on a fake annoyed look and said, "What took you so long?"

"My bad! Please punish us!" the leader of the newcomers quickly replied.

Ezra waved it off, "Forget it."

Then he turned to James with a sneer, "You were acting all tough, saying one phone call could wipe out the Johnson Family? Let's see you do it now!"

The Johnson Family members joined in, mocking James.

James glanced at his watch. Nine minutes had passed, and Walter still wasn't here. Was he gonna have to handle this himself?

Ezra and his crew saw James staying quiet and thought he was finally scared. They loved it and mocked him even more.

Even Jennifer started to think James might actually be scared.

"Scared now? Not so cocky anymore, huh? You were all big talk a minute ago!" Ezra taunted, staring at James. He wasn't in a rush to beat him up; he wanted to savor James's fear.

Jennifer couldn't hold back, "I'm warning you, think twice! We live in a society with laws. If you touch us, we'll call the cops!"

Everyone burst out laughing, mocking Jennifer for being so naive and childish.

Ezra's eyes roamed over Jennifer, unable to hide his lust. He was already planning how to take this beautiful woman for himself.

"Call the cops? In Sunridge City, you think the cops can protect you? What a joke!" Ezra scoffed.

"What do you want to let us go? We haven't done anything to you," Jennifer said angrily.

Ezra loved the power trip. He glanced at James and said, "Sure, I'll let you go. But first, make him kneel, kowtow to everyone, and apologize. Then maybe I'll think about it."

"Don't push it!" Jennifer snapped, her fists clenched tight.

Just then, James, who'd been cool as a cucumber, suddenly smiled and said, "He's here."

Everyone was thrown off by his random comment. Then they heard the whirring of the wind outside, and the trees started swaying like crazy.

"What the heck is going on?" People were confused, and the Johnson Family members looked to Ezra for answers.

Ezra was just as puzzled. He hadn't planned anything like this. He turned to the leader of his men, "Did you set this up?"

The leader shook his head, "Not me."

Jennifer had a hunch and looked sharply at James. Seeing him smile and nod, she beamed, alight with excitement.

James had already picked up on Walter's voice, carried by the wind, something only he could hear.

Walter had made it in record time, just under ten minutes.

Soon, a helicopter landed. Moments later, the door was kicked open, and a tall figure rushed in—it was Walter.

He looked frantic. Seeing the crowd, he frowned, scanned the room, and didn't spot James. He got even more anxious and shouted, "Mr. Smith, I'm here! I made it within ten minutes!" He didn't care about all the eyes on him, shouting earnestly.

Behind him, eight burly men followed, lining up neatly.

Even though there were only eight of them, their presence and intensity blew Ezra's twenty-some guys out of the water. Anyone with half a brain could see they were the real deal.

Ezra, who'd been all smug a second ago, turned pale and started shaking when he saw Walter.

This was Walter!

Ezra was a nobody in the Jenkins Family. There were dozens like him, and together they didn't hold a candle to Walter. Walter was Derek's grandson, the true heir of the Jenkins Family, who could squash him like a bug.

Plus, Walter had a nasty temper and was known for his violence. Ezra had seen him make his own cousin cry. This was not a guy he could mess with.

Ezra quickly let go of Ethel's hand, ran to Walter, and tried to suck up, "Walter, what brings you here?"

He bent over, acting all humble in front of Walter, a far cry from his earlier arrogance.

The Johnson Family members who'd been kissing up to Ezra were all stunned.

Walter was too focused on finding James to bother with Ezra. Besides, he had no clue who Ezra even was.

Then Walter's eyes lit up, and he looked excited. He impatiently shoved Ezra aside and ran to James, waving eagerly, "Master Smith, I didn't let you down. I made it within ten minutes!"
