Chapter 625 The Magical Land
A sonic boom ripped through the air, kicking up a dust cloud that stretched for yards. When it finally cleared, James was frozen in his punching stance, his fist locked in the Sword God's grip, unable to budge an inch. Everyone watching lost it—James was a powerhouse, but the Sword God had just caught his punch like it was nothing.
'The Sword God's on another level! No one's touching him!'
That thought hit everyone at once. And now that James was the Sword God's student? Nobody would dare mess with him again.
James shook his sore arm, knowing in his heart that he was no match for the Sword God.
However, the Sword God's cold lips curled into a slight smile, "Not bad. Although you're at the peak of the fourth stage, your full-force strike has the power of just entering the fifth stage!"
James chuckled awkwardly and asked in a low voice, "Sword God, what stage are you at?"
"Me? I haven't reached the peak yet. That barrier is hard to break!"
James was slightly surprised. Fifth stage broken into low, mid, high, and peak, each step like climbing a damn mountain, and the gap between him and the Sword God was more like scaling the entire Rockies!
"Alright, you've got some real strength. Come back with me, train hard, and aim to hit the fifth stage within ten years."
James took a step back and bowed his head. "Sword God, I'm sorry, but I can't accept that!"
The air around Sword God turned icy in an instant. After a brief pause, he demanded, "Give me one good reason!"
James took a deep breath and laid it all out. "My sister, Arianwen, was taken by the Godslayer Organization. They wiped her memory, turned her into a cold-blooded killer, and they've tried to take me out more times than I can count. For one, I need to save her, and for two, I can't let this org keep wreaking havoc in our country. These people here—they're my crew. We've already pinpointed the Godslayer's base. This time, I've got to go. But when I'm back, I'll be by your side, training hard. I won't let you down."
After hearing this, the Sword God's expression softened a lot, "The Godslayer Organization, huh? That's a troublesome matter. If it was just about your sister, I'd never let you go. But since you're looking to do the world a favor, then go ahead."
James was stunned. He'd been hoping to bring Sword God along—that would've wiped out the Godslayer Organization for sure. But looks like he's not stepping in.
As if reading James's mind, Sword God glanced up at the sky and said, "James, the world's more complicated than you think. There are some out there who are on my level. If I step in, the ones lurking in the shadows will come out too. So, it's not that I don't want to help—it's about the bigger picture. I hope you get that."
Hearing this, James suddenly realized, "I understand. I will be very careful this time."
The Sword God nodded slightly, then disappeared in a flash. Once he was gone, James finally exhaled. The guy's presence was straight-up suffocating. But the stronger the Sword God was, the more pumped James got. For the first time, he had a clear target to chase—something he'd been missing before.
Two days later, Sidney found James, "Mr. Smith, everyone has already dispersed and entered Aetheria. Should we take action now?"
James nodded, and Sidney then brought out a travel group of more than ten people. However, each member of this group was quite powerful, with the weakest being at the third stage and the strongest at the fourth stage intermediate level.
Although they were no match for James, this small team would definitely have impressive combat power.
James then waved his hand, letting them go first, while he and Sidney were directly taken to the airport.
Intel had it that the infamous Godslayer Organization's HQ was in Aetheria. Even though it was just a stone's throw from Sunlandia, sneaking into a country packed with people would've been a headache. So, Sidney and the crew split up and went in waves. James and Sidney were the last to roll in.
A few hours later, James and Sidney stepped out of Aetheria's international airport, luggage in tow.
"What's next?" James asked. He wasn't one for handling the nitty-gritty, so he left it to the NSA. And when it came to the NSA's efficiency? James had zero doubts.
Sidney immediately replied, "Today, we will rest for the night. Tomorrow, we will take a sightseeing tour bus and tour the southwest for a day. The day after tomorrow, we will meet at Nile Canyon, on the outskirts of the Godslayer Organization's mountain range! Some of our people are already there, scouting the terrain."
James nodded slightly. Sidney's arrangement was fine. Their whereabouts must not be exposed, as this place was different from Sunlandia.
Outside the airport, a ride was already waiting. The moment James and the crew stepped out, they hopped into the car and headed straight to the hotel. After a quick freshen-up, James didn't stick around—he hit the streets solo.
Even though James was a powerhouse, this was his first time in the mystical land of Aetheria. The place had a wild wealth gap, was the cradle of a major religion, and the locals had this fierce, competitive vibe. All in all, it was one intriguing spot.
After leaving the hotel, James noticed something was off. The streets were crowded, with everyone heading in the same direction. James asked a passerby and learned that today was the Darsha Festival.
Darsha was a deity worshipped in this country, and people were heading to the Darsha Temple to pray and seek blessings. It was said that making a wish before Darsha was particularly effective.
"Is it really that magical?"
Out of curiosity, James joined the crowd and slowly made his way to the Darsha Temple Square. After a few minutes, James saw a large square with a 20-foot-tall statue of a woman sitting in the center.
Behind the square was a magnificent temple, and people were orderly kneeling around the statue to pray. James was pushed by the crowd and sat down about 30 feet from the statue.
The moment he sat down, though, he felt this weird ripple—like a soundwave zipping through the air. It was faint and quick, but James caught it.
