Chapter 78 Who's Playing Whom?

Jennifer was instantly infuriated. This fool! Couldn't he see that these guys were trying to get him drunk?

James chuckled, looking completely innocent, pretending to be oblivious to Jonathon and the others' malicious intentions.

Seeing James's gullible demeanor, Jonathon couldn't help but grin widely, feeling a sense of relief. It seemed that the rumors were right; Dr. Johnson's husband was not just useless but also a complete idiot. When Jonathon thought this, he couldn’t help but burst into some laughter.

This was an ideal situation. The drug they had slipped into the drink wasn't extremely potent and would need to take some time to take effect.

Once it did, every woman would become lustful. They could use this time to get James drunk enough and then take advantage of Jennifer right in front of him. The mere thought of it was exhilarating!

Jennifer stepped forward, saying, "Maybe we should save the drinks. My husband drove here, and it wouldn't be safe for him to drive after drinking."

Jonathon immediately dismissed her concerns by saying, "That's not a problem. We can designate one driver for your husband later. Since James is here, why won’t we have some fun and drink, ha-ha!"

With that, he filled a glass for James, and said, "Here, James, let me toast to you and Jennifer’s lifelong happiness."

After saying this, he gulped the drink in his glass, then turned it upside down to show that it was empty.

"Thank you," James replied in a docile manner, quickly finishing his drink.

Jonathon laughed heartily, gave James a thumbs-up, and praised, "James, you're a good guy. I enjoy being friends with generous people like you. Let's have another round."

Without giving James a chance to respond, Jonathon filled his glass again, drank it quickly, and then looked at James with a grin.

As someone who frequented attending social events, Jonathon was confident in his ability to outdrink most people. Even if he couldn't outdrink James, there were others here to substitute for him to continue to drink with James.

"James, let me toast you as well," another middle-aged man at Jonathon's side offered, raising his glass to James.

"Sure," James didn't refuse, finishing his full glass of beer. He drank so quickly that he burped sometimes, looking slightly tipsy.

Seeing his state, a cunning glint flashed in Jonathon's eyes as he continued to toast to James.

One drink after another, everyone in the room took turns toasting James. He didn't refuse anyone, drinking at an impressive speed. In no time, he had finished five bottles and appeared quite drunk.

"Mr. Jones, That’s quite the amount of beer. I'm feeling a bit drunk. Can we take a break?" James asked while he burped again, shaking his head.

"Don’t talk bullshit; You've barely drunk anything. Let’s have another one!" Jonathon exclaimed, quickly finishing his drink.

Jennifer held him back, saying, "You're already drunk. You can't drink anymore."

Director Jenkins chimed in from the side, "Dr. Johnson, we don’t have many chances like that to stay together. We should enjoy ourselves! Besides, James is enjoying it. Isn't that right, James?"

James nodded with a grin.

Jennifer was somewhat annoyed by James's foolish smile. He was quite rational when dealing with John Johnson last time. Why had he become so foolish now?

Jonathon and the others continued their onslaught of toasts, pouring James a full glass every half a minute or so. In just over ten minutes, James had consumed over ten bottles of beer. Yet, he still maintained his composure, despite appearing drunk. He only excused himself to use the restroom once.

This was unbelievable.

Everyone present was a seasoned drinker. They knew that beer itself did not have a very high alcohol content. However, after more than ten bottles, anyone without an extraordinary tolerance would become totally drunk.

And yet, it seems that James wasn't drunk and was still able to converse rationally. This was highly unusual for normally anyone.

Even Jonathon, who had drunk five bottles of beer, was feeling tipsy.

As for Director Jenkins, whose alcohol tolerance wasn't as high, he was flushed and visibly drunk.

Jennifer was surprised. When had James's alcohol tolerance become so high? She even started to suspect whether James had somehow managed to expel the alcohol he had consumed.

Jonathon was frustrated. He burped and said to James, "James, you said you couldn't drink a small amount of alcohol. But you've had over ten bottles, and you seem fine."

James chuckled, and then replied, "I thought you were going to serve hard liquor. I can't handle drinking hard liquor at all. But I can drink tons of beer without getting drunk. My doctor says I have a special enzyme in my body that prevents me from getting drunk on beer."

Jonathon was furious. Why the hell didn't you say that earlier?!

The others also regretted their decision. If they had known, they would have served hard liquor from the start. Drinking all that beer was just a waste of time.

‘But this Mr. Smith was really an idiot. Even after all this, he still hadn't realized their intention to get him drunk. And he even told them that he couldn't handle hard liquor. Such a fool deserved to be cuckolded,’ they thought.

Jennifer was also furious. She felt like kicking James for his stupidity.

"Ah, we're out of beer. Dennis, ask the waiter to bring more drinks. We won't stop drinking until we're drunk tonight, Hahaha," Jonathon suggested and turned to Dennis.

Dennis understood and immediately went to ask the waiter to bring in ten bottles of hard liquor.

"Mr. Jones, why did you switch to hard liquor? I would get drunk easily on it," James said, looking somewhat panicked.

Jonathon laughed heartily, and reassured, "Don't worry, it's rare to get such a happy drunk in life. Besides, it's boring to keep drinking beer. Men should drink hard liquor.

"Besides, your alcohol tolerance can be improved with practice. After you finish a few bottles today, your tolerance will increase. You'll be able to drink a thousand glasses without getting drunk."

"Well, I'd rather not..." James refused and seemed uncomfortable.

Jonathon glared at him, showing his displeasure. He remarked, "What, are you disrespecting me?"

He had figured that James was a weak, incompetent man, the kind of person he wouldn't even bother looking at.

James looked scared and quickly explained, "Of course not. I really can't drink hard liquor. If I get drunk, I won't be able to drive my wife home."

Hearing this, Jonathon burst into laughter, patting James on the shoulder. He said meaningfully, "Don't worry about that, James. If you get drunk, I'll personally drive Dr. Johnson home."

"Oh, in that case, I'll have to trouble you, Mr. Jones," James seemed relieved. He made up his mind, and declared with enthusiasm, "Alright, then. I'll risk it for the sake of camaraderie. Let's have hard liquor!"

"That’s the right choice," Jonathon praised and was delighted with how things were progressing. He gave James a thumbs-up, but his eyes were filled with contempt and mockery.

The others also looked at James as if he were a fool.

However, they all failed to notice the subtle smirk that played on James's lips as he lowered his head.

How could he not know that Jonathon, the fat pervert, was after Jennifer? He was just playing dumb.

Outdrinking Jonathon and the others with beer would take too much time, but with hard liquor, he was confident that he could knock them all out quickly!
