Chapter 122: The Truth Revealed, Brandon's Fury

"Really? I'm on my way!" Eugene stood up, adjusted his appearance in the mirror to ensure he was decent, and then left.
A crowd had gathered in Brandon's hospital room. Almost all the senior staff of Lindwood City Hospital were present, respectfully watching the newly awakened Brandon in bed, not daring to make a sound for fear of disturbing him.
Herman sat by the bed, his expression excited, his eyes red. "Dad, you finally woke up. This is wonderful!"
Brandon weakly nodded and smiled. "Looks like it's not my time to meet God yet."
"Of course not, Dad. You'll definitely live to be a hundred!" Herman said, smiling happily.
Brandon chuckled. "I don't expect to live to a hundred. I'll be satisfied if I can see my granddaughter Linda get married."
Herman smiled wryly at this. With Linda's personality, getting her to marry wouldn't be easy. Moreover, as an outstanding woman, few men in Emerald Isle City were worthy of her.
At this moment, Dominic stepped forward and respectfully said to Brandon, "Congratulations, Mr. Edwards. We've conducted a comprehensive examination, and you are now fully recovered."
"Dad, we owe a big thank you to Director Collins and the other department heads. They held several meetings over a few days, sifting through plans to find the best one for you," Herman said.
Dominic smiled and gave a quick, humble wave. "It's our duty. As long as Mr. Edwards is healthy, we're happy."
"Yes, that's our duty to try our best to cure every patient."
The other department heads quickly chimed in and were very humble about it.
"Moreover, the main credit goes to Dr. Baker. He proposed the treatment plan and was your chief surgeon," Dominic said with a smile.
Herman added, "Dad, Director Collins is right. We really need to thank Dr. Baker properly this time!"
Unexpectedly, Brandon, who had been smiling, immediately turned grim upon hearing this. His face darkened, and a surge of immense anger rose within him!
Brandon said in a deep voice, "Call Dr. Baker over here."
Everyone was startled by Brandon's grim tone, unable to understand why he reacted this way.
At this moment, Eugene finally arrived. He rushed in and said, "Mr. Edwards, you're finally awake; that's great."
Brandon's anger flared even more when he heard Eugene's voice, his face turning darker. "Was it you who cured me?"
Herman, who had always been by Brandon's side, knew his father's character well and immediately sensed that Brandon was angry! This puzzled him greatly. Why would Brandon be angry? Eugene was his savior. Moreover, Brandon was known for being grateful; he would show gratitude for even the smallest favors.
'Could there be something wrong here?' Herman thought.
Dominic and the other department heads also found it strange, sensing that something was amiss.
Only Eugene, still lost in his fantasy world, was extremely excited. "Yes, Mr. Edwards, it was me."
He was all set for a shower of thanks or a hefty reward.
Brandon squinted his eyes, his anger turning into a cold smile. "Oh, then I really need to thank you properly!"
Eugene quickly waved his hand and said, "It's my duty. As long as you're healthy and live a long life, that's my greatest wish!"
"Is that so?" Brandon's expression grew even colder. "I'll ask you one more time. Was it you who cured me?"
"Yes, Mr. Edwards! I led the whole operation. You even talked to me, remember?" Eugene said, feeling a bit displeased, thinking Brandon might be suffering from dementia. 'How could he not remember just a few hours back?' Eugene thought.
Brandon suddenly slammed the table, thunderously angry. "How dare you shamelessly steal someone else's credit! Back in my soldier days, you'd be toast! Someone, arrest this shameless scoundrel!"
Although Brandon had just recovered from a serious illness and was physically weak, his aura was undeniable. As someone who had been on the battlefield, he exuded a formidable aura, sending a wave of fear through the room. Everyone was dead silent, even Herman looked shaken.
As for Eugene, he was so frightened as to shiver; his legs went weak, and he collapsed to the ground.
This drastic change shocked everyone, leaving them dumbfounded.
'What happened?' Everyone wanted to ask.
Herman reacted following Brandon's order. He immediately stepped forward, grabbed Eugene's left hand, and forcefully pinned him to the ground.
Despite his high position, Herman had trained in combat before. Two or three ordinary people would not be his match. Pinned to the ground, Eugene couldn't move and cried out in pain.
Dominic and the others were instantly bewildered. "Mr. Edwards, what's going on here? Is there some misunderstanding? Dr. Baker was the chief surgeon for your operation."
"Nonsense!" Brandon was furious. "I was almost killed by this quack. If Dr. Smith hadn't shown up in time, I would have died!"
Hearing this, Dominic and the others were even more confused.
"Dr. Smith? Mr. Edwards, you must be mistaken. We don't have a Dr. Smith at our hospital," one of the department heads said in surprise.
They started to wonder if Brandon was mixing things up due to his age or perhaps some complication from the surgery.
Eugene was the only one who caught on, turning as white as a sheet and shaking like a leaf!
But he couldn't figure out how his secret got exposed. 'Did those two assistants rat me out? What should I do now? Should I confess?' he thought.
Eugene panicked, truly terrified. He knew very well that if the truth came out, it wasn't just Brandon's revenge he'd face; his career would be over, and his medical license would be revoked!
Herman asked, "Dad, what exactly is going on?"
Brandon, with a stern face, recounted what he had heard, including how Eugene ignored Jennifer's advice, stubbornly injected him with a sedative, nearly killing him, and how James rushed over, risking imprisonment to treat him. He also mentioned Eugene's various taunts towards James.
He even pointed out that Eugene bribed two assistants to steal the credit shamelessly.
After hearing this, Dominic and the others were completely stunned, breaking out in a cold sweat. Dominic, as the hospital director, couldn't escape responsibility for such an incident. What was supposed to be a good thing turned into a disaster. He angrily kicked Eugene. "Eugene, you bastard! How could you do that? I trusted you so much!"
With Dominic taking the lead, the other department heads also started to punch and kick Eugene. They were venting their anger and trying to please Brandon.
Brandon frowned and then expressed gratitude. "Where is Dr. Smith? Take me to him. I want to thank him personally!"
