Chapter 311 So Strong It's Inhuman
Kieran's quick move left James totally floored. Dude didn't expect Kieran to drop to his knees that fast, no second thoughts or nothing.
Everyone else? Yeah, they were just as shook.
Especially Elijah and his crew, Kieran's own guys. They knew Kieran was a tough cookie, never one to back down. But here he was, kneeling to James like it was nothing. They had the numbers, and James was just one dude. Sure, he was strong, but could he really take on all of them? Plus, they had weapons.
And Leopold and his family? Man, their minds were blown. This was way crazier than the last couple of times James had shown his stuff.
Kieran's quick surrender left James feeling kinda meh.
"Alright, get up. This is lame," James said, frowning. "You knelt so fast, didn't even give me a chance to do anything."
Kieran shivered, glad he knelt quickly. From what James said, if he hadn't, he'd be in for another round of pain!
Kieran thought he was pretty tough. Cuts? No big deal. But James? James scared the crap out of him. His methods were brutal, worse than anything. Kieran had been through it once and was terrified of a repeat. He'd rather die than go through that again.
Kieran jumped up and thanked James over and over, "Thanks, man, thanks!"
James, still not satisfied, didn't want to waste time chatting. He pointed at Dorian and said, "He's under my protection. Don't mess with him, got it?"
"Got it!" Kieran nodded like crazy, then ran to Dorian, offering him a cigarette. "It was all a big misunderstanding. I didn't know you were tight with James. My bad."
Dorian was stunned, his brain on pause, as he took the cigarette and nodded like a robot.
James went on, "And these two, they're my family. If you see them, you better treat them right, got it? If I hear you messed with them, you'll wish you were dead."
James picked up a glass from the table and crushed it in his hand. The thick glass turned to powder, slipping through his fingers without a scratch.
Seeing this, Kieran and everyone else were freaked out, cold sweat and all. 'Is this guy even human?' they thought.
Even with a hammer, it would take a few hits to crush a glass like that, but James did it with his bare hands, no sweat.
At that moment, everyone who thought Kieran was a wimp for being scared got it—James was on a whole different level.
"Absolutely, absolutely!" Kieran stood straight, walked over to Leopold and Eirian, bowed deeply, and said loudly, "From now on, you two are like our parents!"
Leopold and Eirian exchanged a look, both super excited. Their opinion of James just went through the roof.
Seeing that it was enough, James waved his hand and said, "Alright, you can bounce now. I'm still hungry."
"Okay," Kieran didn't dare defy James, nodded quickly, and turned to leave.
Suddenly, he thought of something, gritted his teeth, and turned back, sucking up to James, "Since you're still hungry, how about I treat you to a meal at a restaurant?"
James's eyes widened. "What, you're still not convinced and want revenge?"
"I wouldn't dare!" Kieran was startled, shaking his head quickly. "You got it all wrong. I genuinely admire you and want to be friends. No... I sincerely want to be your subordinate. Can you give me a shot?"
Kieran's posture was super humble, and his attitude was sincere.
He had figured it out. Someone like James must have a powerful background. Following James could only bring benefits, not harm.
James saw through Kieran's thoughts and kinda admired his ability to adapt.
"Becoming my subordinate? Nah, you're not cut out for it." James was about to grab some food when Kieran beat him to it, respectfully handing over the grub. James took it and said indifferently, "Given your sincere attitude, I'll tell you this. For the next month, no meat, only veggies, and no women. Wake up at six every morning and wash your eyes with salt water. You might get through the upcoming crap; otherwise, you're toast."
Hearing this, Kieran's mouth twitched, and he knelt before James again. "James! Please help me get through this! I've been having the worst luck for the past two months, nothing goes right, and I keep having nightmares. I've lost a ton of weight in just two months!"
James snorted, "Last time, you didn't wear the obsidian I told you to. You deserve this."
"I deserve it, please save me!" Kieran clung to James's leg, crying. He looked nothing like the tough guy he was when he first came in, now just a pitiful mess.
This drastic change was shocking.
It made everyone even more in awe and admiration of James. Now, everyone looked at James like he was a god.
James frowned and kicked Kieran away without mercy. "Get lost."
Kieran wanted to plead more, but James's glare made him swallow his words. He sighed and left dejectedly.
Elijah and the others were shocked but followed Kieran out.
Although Kieran was humble before James, he was still someone they couldn't afford to tick off.
After leaving, Elijah couldn't help but whisper to Kieran, "Kieran, you didn't have to beg him. He's just a fighter, not a sorcerer. I heard the Perry family hired a powerful sorcerer. We could join the Perry family; it's more reliable than following him."
They were still in the hallway, and James heard this. He immediately frowned, then showed a meaningful expression and shouted, "Kieran, get back here."
Kieran, who had just reached the elevator, was stunned upon hearing James's voice. Ignoring Elijah, he quickly ran back.
