Chapter 346 Walter, we meet again.

"Hey, Mr. Smith. You still in Lindwood City? Remember that big shot I told you about? He's in bad shape now. We got a bunch of docs here, and we're all stumped. Can you swing by?" Edwin blurted out as soon as the call connected.

James had a feeling Edwin would hit him up, but he didn't expect the guy to sound so freaked out. Usually, someone like Edwin wouldn't lose his cool, even with a tough case.

"Yeah, I remember," James nodded.

Edwin jumped in, "Then you gotta get here fast. It's serious."

James, with a serious tone, asked, "Edwin, can you give me a quick rundown of the patient's condition?"

Edwin quickly laid out Derek's situation and the treatments they'd tried. He sighed, "We're doing everything we can, but it's rough. We're just buying time. You're our last hope, Mr. Smith."

"You're flattering me, Edwin," James said, trying to stay humble. "I think it's more than just old injuries. He seems like he's lost his will to fight. That kind of mindset can really mess with one's health."

James then tossed out a few more treatment ideas. Edwin, listening, slapped his thigh, "Oh man, you're right! Mr. Smith, we need you here right now, please."

James was about to ask Edwin about Walter's grandpa's character, wondering if he was worth saving. Walter was a sketchy dude, after all. But seeing Edwin's urgency, he figured he had his answer.

"Alright, give me the address. I'm on my way," James agreed.

After James hung up, Emberlyn immediately asked, "James, are you gonna treat Walter's grandpa?"

Her face was all puzzled. Theodore, sitting across from them, looked just as surprised, "James can treat illnesses?"

Emberlyn, beaming with pride, said, "Yeah, James is a whiz at martial arts, medicine, and even divination."

As she went on, Emberlyn started hyping James up, making him sound like some kind of superhero. James playfully flicked her on the head, "Alright, enough with the bragging. I think you should head back to Rainforest City before your folks freak out."

"I don't wanna go back. I'm not going back until they stop trying to marry me off to that jerk Walter," Emberlyn said, pouting like a spoiled kid.

Suddenly, a mischievous grin spread across her face. "Walter was so full of himself. Wait till he finds out you're the only one who can help his grandpa! He'll be floored. I gotta see that! James, I'm tagging along."

"Nope," James shot back without missing a beat.

"Why not?" Emberlyn pouted, crossing her arms.

"Just no. End of story," James replied firmly.

Emberlyn put her hands on her hips, "Like it or not, I'm coming with you."

James just stared at her quietly. After about ten seconds, she caved, looking all sulky, "Fine, I won't go. What's the big deal? James, you're always shutting me down."

James ignored her and turned to Theodore, "Keep an eye on Emberlyn. If anything comes up that you can't handle, call me."

If anyone else had said that, Theodore would've thought they were full of themselves. But since it was James, he felt a sense of duty and said seriously, "Don't worry, James. I'll take good care of Emberlyn."

"Great," James nodded and then took off.

On Edwin's end, after hanging up, he turned to Derek, "Derek, good news. I got Dr. Smith on the line. With him here, I'm sure he can help you get better."

Derek, hearing this, felt a flicker of hope and asked, "Is this Dr. Smith really that good?"

Edwin smiled, visibly more relaxed, "He's the best."

Following James's instructions, Edwin started treating Derek. The effect was immediate. Derek, who had been pale and weak, regained some vitality.

"It works," Edwin said, surprised. The other doctors also expressed their admiration for James.

Feeling much better, Derek said to Walter, "Walter, go out and greet Dr. Smith. Be polite and don't piss him off, got it?"

Walter nodded, "Don't worry, Grandpa. I won't mess this up."

Derek nodded, trusting Walter to bring James in without a hitch.

Half an hour later, James arrived at the address Edwin had given. From a distance, he saw Walter and a few others waiting for him. He smiled knowingly and ambled towards Walter.

Soon, Walter spotted him, too. He was initially stunned, then his eyes widened in anger.

"Walter, don't lose it. Derek's still waiting for Dr. Smith's treatment," his bodyguard reminded him.

Walter took a deep breath, stifling his anger. Even though he was fuming, he knew what was more important right now.

James finally stood in front of Walter, smiling, "Walter, we meet again."

Walter glared at him, "Get lost before I lose my temper."
