Chapter 488 Interested in James

James had long anticipated Lisa's reaction, so he was not at all surprised. After all, anyone with common sense would find it dubious. Even he, five years ago, would never have believed that he, James, could fall in love with a woman from an ordinary family.

But that was how things happened. That was the charm of love.

He smiled and said, "Ms. Savoy, do I have any reason to lie to you? But your reaction is normal because even I, five years ago, before I met my wife, wouldn't have believed I would fall in love with an ordinary woman. That's precisely the magic of love, full of wonder and defying logic."

As he spoke, James's eyes became distant, recalling scenes of how he and Jennifer met, from initial dislike to deep love.

Lisa stood opposite him, taking in the colors in his pupils, seeing a depth of emotion and contentment she had never seen before.

Lisa believed James.

James had truly fallen in love with a woman from an ordinary family.

A person's gaze never lied, and besides, James had no reason to deceive her.

Lisa was shocked, more so than by all the surprises James had brought her earlier combined.

Was there really was such a thing as love in this world?

Lisa couldn't understand it, feeling her worldview was overturned.

It left her with her mouth open, unable to speak for a long time.

"Mr. Smith, can I meet her?" Lisa asked after a long pause.

James thought for a moment and said, "Ms. Savoy, she doesn't know you exist."

This was a polite refusal.

After hearing this, Lisa felt an inexplicable jealousy and reflected, 'You won't even tell me her name. Are you so afraid I'll ruin your relationship? Fine, if you're so afraid of me disturbing you, then I will disturb you!'

Suddenly, Lisa was startled inside, 'How could she have such thoughts? Is this really her usual character?'

Besides, she had just met James and didn't even like him, so why was she having such unhealthy thoughts?

Lisa thought she needed to get rid of this idea quickly.

With Lisa's silence, James said, "Ms. Savoy, I'm really sorry. You're an excellent woman. If you don't mind, we can be friends."

Actually, Lisa was a very independent woman with her own opinions. After a brief moment of distraction, she quickly returned to normal and said, "In that case, I won't force you. When I get back, I'll tell my family that we're not suitable for each other. I hope you and your wife are happy."

After saying this, she stood up and left the restaurant.

Heather followed her out, giving James a fierce glare as she left, her eyes implying, 'You must be an idiot.'

James smiled and didn't mind, finishing his meal before leaving.

Lisa had already paid the bill, so he was happy to leave easily and casually.

"Ms. Savoy, how dare he reject you? Who does he think he is?"

As soon as they left the restaurant, Heather said angrily, very displeased.

Lisa kept a straight face without words.

Lisa had left gracefully, but she didn't feel comfortable inside.

Instead, she felt very uncomfortable.

It wasn't regret over the marriage but the sheer humiliation of losing, and losing to an ordinary woman at that! For Lisa, this was a lifelong disgrace.

Closing her eyes, she recalled the scenes of meeting James earlier. From the beginning, the rhythm had been in James's hands. She had been completely led by James, her emotions influenced by him.

It wasn't until she came out and calmed down that she realized this.

"James, it seems I underestimated you," Lisa murmured, a seductive smile curling at the corners of her mouth.

This smile was rare on her noble and beautiful face. She had always maintained an image of elegance and perfection.

Heather's heart skipped a beat. Heather realized Lisa was interested in James.

This was not a good start.

Then Lisa said, "Heather, find out who James's wife is."

Heather asked softly, "Ms. Savoy, are you going to find her?"

Lisa closed her eyes and didn't answer.

But Heather was used to Lisa's temperament and already knew the answer. Lisa was going to find the woman James mentioned herself.

It was obvious. With Lisa's proud character, how could she be willing to lose to someone else, especially an ordinary woman?

As for James, after leaving the restaurant, he didn't go to Jeffery's place but went home.

Saxon was practicing martial arts in the courtyard. Seeing James return, he said, "Let's spar."

Before James could respond, Saxon approached and launched an attack.

It could be said that James's skills were all taught by his father, Saxon, who was a master himself.

In the past, James had never been a match for Saxon because Saxon was at the peak of the third stage of martial arts, while James was only at the second stage.

But now, James had become stronger.

Before Saxon even reached him, James could feel the pressure emanating from his father, even though Saxon was in front of him, the pressure came from all directions like a tide.

James smiled, extending his right hand to meet his father's attack, neutralizing Saxon's immense pressure.

It had been a long time since he had sparred with Saxon. He had always been no match for his father, but now the tables had turned.

"Good catch," Saxon praised, then launched a storm of attacks at James.

Despite being over fifty, Saxon's stamina was still at its peak, and even most third-stage martial artists couldn't match him.

James didn't counterattack as he was like a precise machine, forming an impenetrable defense, perfectly blocking his father's attacks.

Saxon's speed was so fast it exceeded what the retina could capture, yet he still couldn't touch James.

They continued to spar, appearing evenly matched, but in reality, Saxon was helpless against James.

After more than ten minutes, Saxon stopped, shaking his head, "I'm no longer a match for you."
