Chapter 603 Chasing Stars
"What are you doing! Let go of me!" The princess was grabbed by James, and she reacted strongly, about to slap James in the face, extremely agitated.
Of course, James easily dodged her slap.
Gray, sitting on the other side of the princess, saw James laying hands on her and lost it. "You damn hick! How dare you disrespect Her Highness? I will kill you!"
Saying this, he was about to attack James.
Just then, Kevin started dancing energetically on stage again, and the princess let out an excited scream, saying displeasedly, "Alright, stop arguing and let me watch Kevin's concert!"
Gray didn't dare to disobey the princess's order, so he had to stop, glaring at James fiercely, filled with killing intent, and even made a throat-slitting gesture.
After just a few hours together, it was clear Gray had it out for James—or really, anyone from Sunlandia. The guy seemed convinced Sunlandia didn't have any real talent. James couldn't figure out where Gray got that kind of arrogance. With skills as basic as his, there were plenty of people here who could wipe the floor with him without breaking a sweat.
James frowned, noticing that the assassins hadn't continued to approach but had hidden themselves.
It seemed they were also cautious here.
This was actually a relief for James. He wasn't afraid of these assassins but was concerned about the large number of people here. If a fight broke out, the damage would be too great! Many people would die, and even though he was cold-blooded, he didn't want to see such an outcome.
James focused his mind, outwardly appearing to watch the concert, but in reality, his consciousness had already enveloped a large part of the stadium, locking onto the six assassins.
The concert continued until the end, and the assassins didn't make a move, which made James breathe a sigh of relief.
After the concert, James found it really boring. He couldn't understand how these so-called young stars became popular. Their singing was like wailing, their dancing was ugly with no sense of beauty, and their movements were uncoordinated, yet there were so many fools who liked them. Even a foreign royal princess had become a fan, which was really puzzling.
As the concert ended, James wanted the princess to go back directly so he could find an opportunity to deal with the six assassins one by one, eliminating future troubles. But the princess became willful again, wanting to go backstage to meet the young star and ask for his autograph.
When James heard this, he almost wanted to knock out the troublesome princess with a hand chop!
It was really infuriating.
"Man, you're such a wuss, making up assassins out of thin air. Are all Sunlandians as chicken as you? Hahaha," Gray taunted, laying it on thick.
The other two bodyguards joined in on the laugh.
James squinted his eyes, feeling the killing intent again as the assassins infiltrated once more.
What a hassle.
He thought about telling the princess to cut the night short and head back, not giving these guys an opening. But one look at her stubborn, carefree expression told him it'd be a waste of breath. He sighed internally, feeling the weight of it all. Here he was, a fourth-stage grandmaster, the top talent of the City of Mysteries, reduced to babysitting duty and getting nothing but disrespect. Exhausting didn't even begin to cover it.
Anyway, the princess wouldn't listen to advice, and if something happened, it would be her fate, not James's fault.
Out of duty, James had to lay it out straight. "Your Highness, I'm not stopping you from fan-girling, but heads up—you've got six assassins on your tail, and they're top-tier. No way your three guys can handle it. If something goes south, don't say I didn't warn you. But if you bounce now, I've got you covered."
Seeing James dead serious, the princess hesitated and turned to Gray. "Uncle Gray, is this for real? Are we really being hunted?"
She might be a diva, but she wasn't stupid. The idea of assassins? Yeah, that freaked her out.
However, Gray's words quickly reassured her, "Your Highness, don't listen to him. There's no way assassins are after you. If they were, I'd have sniffed them out ages ago! Plus, this trip's on the down-low—only the king and a handful of others know. How would assassins even get wind of it? And with your status, who'd be dumb enough to mess with you?"
He shot James a look. "This guy's just spinning tales because he's a coward."
The princess turned to James, her face twisted in disgust. "If you're scared, just bail. I don't need your protection. I won't even rat you out to your bosses."
James was speechless. What kind of people were these? She was a princess of a country, yet her thinking was so childish? She wasn't even as mature as James's cousin in middle school.
James also had a temper, so he simply stopped talking.
Seeing James's silence, they sneered again, thinking it was a sign of his guilt.
Next, the princess went backstage and saw Kevin.
This princess had a spoiled personality but was quite attractive. Wherever she went, she would attract admiration and covetous looks. After entering, many men looked at her, stopping their work, including the male star who was removing his makeup.
"Who are you? How'd you get back here?” A crew member walked up, eyeing the princess. Up close, he was mesmerized—damn, she's stunning, and that body? Chef's kiss.
As a princess, her aura was very strong, overshadowing everyone present. Anyone with sharp eyes could see that her identity was not simple.
"I'm Selina, a huge fan of Kevin," the princess said with a smile. "Mind if I grab an autograph and a quick pic with him?"
Kevin, who didn't speak Frostreach, caught the gist from his assistant. His face lit up. "Oh, you're a fan? Hell yeah! You're gorgeous, by the way."
Kevin's eyes stayed on the princess, a sly grin creeping across his face.
That look of his made the Selina's opinion of him take a nosedive. She couldn't help but notice how off he seemed compared to the polished image he usually projected. There was something crude about him now, and the way he was eyeing her made her skin crawl.
