Chapter 168 Harassment

Harmony thought about it all night and decided to ask James out to clear things up. She felt uncomfortable with the unresolved issue hanging over her.
Michael couldn't fathom what Harmony was up to, but seeing her gritted teeth and determined expression, he dared not ask. He felt a pang of sympathy for James; he knew James would face severe consequences.
Following Harmony's instructions, he sent an invitation to James. James, without any suspicion, readily agreed.
"He agreed," Michael said to Harmony.
Harmony nodded slightly, relieved yet strangely nervous.
"Harmony, is there something going on between you and James?" Michael asked cautiously.
"Nothing," Harmony replied coldly, rubbing her temples as she prepared to go upstairs to change and get ready to meet James.
Michael wasn't foolish. From Harmony's various behaviors, he could naturally guess that there was something between Harmony and James. Especially Harmony, she was clearly infatuated with James.
He recalled when James was treating Harmony's illness, she wasn't wearing any clothes!
Michael coughed, speaking meaningfully, “Harmony, are you mistaking James for Jared? Remember, James has a wife and family.”
Harmony froze for a moment, a flash of panic crossing her face before she regained composure. “You’re overthinking it. I just have something to discuss with him.”
Michael saw through her poor acting, further confirming his suspicions. As someone with experience, Michael was almost certain that Harmony had feelings for James!
In fact, Michael admired and appreciated James; not only was he skilled in medicine, but he was also steady and composed, unlike other young men who were often impetuous.
If Harmony were to marry James, Michael would wholeheartedly support it. But the problem was, James wasn't single; he had been married for five years.
Michael couldn't endorse Harmony becoming James's mistress.
Unaware that Michael had read her mind, Harmony eagerly returned to her room to dress up.
She couldn't understand herself either. She was supposed to confront and scold James, yet she couldn't help but want to present herself in the most beautiful way to him.
Having slept poorly the previous night, she had to apply a thick foundation to cover her dark circles.
She then spent over an hour selecting an outfit that would highlight her figure without appearing too vulgar, matching her temperament perfectly.
They arranged to meet at the Brown family's restaurant, the most upscale in Lindwood City. Customers there were typically affluent elites with annual incomes over a million.
Even so, when Harmony walked in, she instantly captured everyone's attention, stunning them with her beauty.
Harmony was naturally very beautiful, with an innate noble and elegant aura. With light makeup, her beauty was accentuated to the fullest.
The restaurant manager recognized Harmony and quickly jogged over, bowing and scraping, "Ms. Brown, what brings you here?"
Harmony maintained a cold expression and responded indifferently, "Arrange the best seat for me. I'm meeting a friend."
"Yes, right away," he said.
James arrived on time, Michael's tone on the phone had been quite urgent, suggesting something important, so James came without hesitation.
However, the fact that Michael had chosen a high-end restaurant for their meeting left him somewhat puzzled.
Meeting in such a romantic place felt rather odd.
Soon, James arrived and was led inside by the manager.
"Mr. Smith, Ms. Brown is waiting for you inside," the manager said respectfully.
James was taken aback.
'Ms. Brown? What did that mean? Wasn't Michael the one who had arranged to meet me?' he puzzled.
By then, the manager had already left. Finding it strange but not bothering to chase after him for an explanation, James opened the door.
"It's you?" Upon seeing Harmony inside, James immediately frowned.
Harmony's face flashed with a mix of panic and delight before she quickly resumed her cold demeanor. "What, surprised to see me?"
James quickly realized he had been tricked by Michael; Harmony had arranged the meeting.
"Quite surprised," James feigned ignorance and asked, "Where's Michael?"
For some reason, Harmony couldn't remain calm when she saw James. She snorted and said, "Stop pretending. You must have guessed it was me who invited you."
James didn't want to get entangled with Harmony and said, "I just remembered I have something to do at home. I'll be leaving now."
"Stop right there!" Harmony flared up, glaring at James and gritting her teeth. "Come over here and sit down."
"What for?" James looked wary and shook his head. "I'm leaving. Goodbye."
Harmony coldly said, "I'll count to three. If you don't come over, I'll accuse you of harassing me! One, two..."
As she spoke, she began unbuttoning her blouse. By the time she reached two, she had already undone the second button.
This scene startled James greatly.
He was certain that if he didn't comply, Harmony would indeed shout, and then he wouldn't be able to clear his reputation no matter what.
"Don't do that. Are you crazy?" James hurriedly waved his hands, stepping inside and closing the door. He was afraid Harmony would do something outrageous. Being misunderstood was one thing, but if word got to Jennifer, he'd be in real trouble.
"It's on you. You forced me to use the last move," Harmony said with a smug smile.
James sighed and said, "Ms. Brown, you used so many efforts to get me here. What's so important?"
Harmony leaned on the table, her eyes fixed on James. "Explain to me what you meant by that phone call you made to me yesterday!"
James was taken aback and asked, "What do you mean?"
"Are you still playing dumb?" Harmony was furious, having spent a sleepless night over it. "What did you mean by what you said on the phone? Why did you insult me and mention Jennifer?"
"Oh, that," James said, suddenly understanding. Using exaggerated acting to cover his guilt, he said, "I was just joking with you," he said.
"Joking?" Hearing this, Harmony felt a wave of relief, but it was quickly followed by even greater anger.
"Yes." James nodded earnestly, trying hard to avert his gaze from Harmony's chest. The effort was minimal, as Harmony's figure was naturally very attractive, and with two buttons undone and her body leaning forward, it was hard not to look.
