Chapter 449 Recognizing James, Scared Out of His Wits

Archer, clad in an expensive suit, sported a smug smile and walked with his head held high, exuding the haughty demeanor typical of one who has recently ascended to power.

Following him were three bodyguards, adding to his imposing presence. It was clear that he had been living a lavish life recently, with a high position and an innate sense of pride and confidence. Here, he was the sovereign, indifferent to all others.

Yael struggled to lift his head and, upon seeing Archer enter, became extremely excited and shouted frantically, "Mr. Hill! Mr. Hill! help!"

His shouting immediately caught Archer's attention, who looked over in their direction.

Seeing the scene clearly, Archer stopped in his tracks, frowned, and felt extremely angry.

He was now the Vice President of Serenity Haven Hotel, second only to Wylie in power. Since Wylie rarely visited Serenity Haven Hotel, Archer was practically the one in charge, wielding immense power. Everyone here had to show him respect. But now, someone dared to cause trouble on his turf, even flipping the dining table.

Moreover, Yael was being stepped on by someone, which was simply unforgivable, as it was a blatant disregard for Archer.

Since Wylie took over Serenity Haven Hotel and made him Vice President, Archer had reached the pinnacle of his life, no longer the humble and weak person he once was. With Wylie's support, he had a place in high society and held a very high position in his industry, with many people trying to curry favor with him.

Years of being in a high position had fostered his arrogant and domineering personality, but now, someone dared to cause trouble.

True also became excited upon seeing Archer enter and quickly ran up to him, "Mr. Hill, Someone is causing trouble in our hotel, refusing to pay. I mentioned your name, but he still didn't care. Now, even Mr. Gonzalez has been beaten by him. This person is lawless and must not be let off easily."

Yael directly shifted all the blame onto James.

Archer was seething with rage and let out a cold, derisive laugh, exuding an air of authority. "Are there still such brazen fools?""

After cursing loudly, he glanced sharply at James. In an instant, he saw James clearly and was stunned for half a second, feeling that James looked familiar, as if he had seen him somewhere before. But he couldn't recall immediately.

Archer then scrutinized James from head to toe, noting his cheap clothes, pants, and shoes, and his ordinary demeanor, instantly identifying him as a common working-class person. Archer let down his guard and became furious.

It was unsurprising that he failed to recognize James, for James's demeanor had undergone a profound transformation since five years past. During that time, he had been haughty and imperious, his piercing gaze rendering anyone in his orbit acutely aware of his formidable presence.

But now, he had completely restrained that sharpness, making anyone who saw him for the first time think he was just nobody. Only those with keen eyes could sense his rock-solid determination and ocean-like depth.

Archer was merely an ordinary man, not even a martial artist, thus he was inherently unable to perceive James's true essence. His initial impression was that James was simply a commonplace, impetuous individual.

He walked up to James and said coldly, "What immense nerve you have, to dine at Serenity Haven Hotel without paying, and even dare to assault others? It seems you have a death wish! Men, seize him!"

With a wave of his hand, he ordered the three bodyguards behind him to seize James.

True and Yael were elated and exhilarated, eager to see how James would meet his end with Archer present.

However, at this moment, James started laughing, staring at Archer and saying, "Mr. Hill, you are quite impressive, not even putting me in your eyes. Well-done."

James started clapping while speaking.

With this, Archer felt an inexplicable panic, a soul-deep fear as if encountering a natural enemy.

Archer hadn't felt this way in a long time, not even when facing Wylie.

Why did he feel this way? Who exactly was this person in front of him?

Archer quickly widened his eyes, focusing intently on James, not missing a single detail, his mind racing to recall who James was.

Finally, Archer remembered.

In an instant, his mind went blank, and an overwhelming fear gripped him, causing his entire body to tremble.

He recalled; he remembered that the individual before him was the heir of the Smith Family, Wylie's cousin, the legendary and most formidable figure within the Smith Family.

Seeing the mocking gleam in James's eyes, the contempt revealed within his pupils, that familiar aura of oppression, akin to doomsday, made him feel as though his heart was about to burst from fear.

Archer had heard a lot about this Smith Family heir over the years, a rare genius among geniuses in the Smith Family. Not to mention Wylie, even all the influential people in the City of Mysteries had to bow down before this Smith Family heir, not daring to provoke him.

And most importantly, this heir, James, was known for his extremely violent and arrogant personality. Even the big shots Archer looked up to had been beaten by James, who was like a demon king.

But hadn't he disappeared five years ago, his life or death unknown? How did he suddenly appear now?

In just two or three seconds, many thoughts flashed through Archer's mind.

The last thought he had was that with James's return, the entire situation in the City of Mysteries was likely to change.

Archer wanted to speak, but couldn't utter a complete sentence, too shocked and horrified.

James stood up, stepped over Yael, walked up to him, and stared straight at him, "Archer, I am very angry."

Being stared at by James, the immense pressure made Archer's soul tremble. In his mental world, the sky was collapsing, and his fragile body couldn't withstand James's pressure. With a dull thud, he knelt in front of James, his spirit completely broken, continuously apologizing, "Mr. Smith, It's my fault.I failed to recognize you and offended you. I deserve to be punished; I am guilty. Please, have mercy on me. Do not stoop to my level. I beg you, spare me. I implore you, Mr. Smith, to forgive me."

Not only did Archer kneel, but he also kowtowed forcefully, with a loud noise on the floor. Soon, his forehead was bruised and bleeding, with blood flowing down his face.
