Chapter 572 So It Was Lisa!
This was a rather blurry security footage, taken from a distance.
The footage showed Jennifer getting out of a car, and shortly after, a Rolls-Royce drove up from the other side. Two bodyguards got out of the car, one in front and one behind, guarding the area. Then, one of the bodyguards opened the door, and a woman stepped out.
Seeing this figure, James furroeds his brow, feeling a sense of familiarity but unable to recall who it was at the moment.
After the mysterious woman got out of the car, she started talking to Jennifer. Due to the distance, it was hard to see clearly, only the general outline was visible.
The conversation lasted for two minutes, during which Jennifer made a few gestures, appearing to be deeply sorrowful.
After two minutes, Jennifer and the mysterious woman paredt ways, each returning to their own cars and leaving.
The mysterious woman standed there for a while, watching the direction Jennifer disappeared in, until Jennifer's car was out of sight. Then she got back into her car and leaves.
At this point, the video ended.
Clio, standing nearby, said, "This is the only clue we have about Mrs. Smith so far. This mysterious woman seems to know Mrs. Smith's whereabouts."
Her words clearly implied that she was asking James if he recognized the mysterious woman.
James fell into deep thought, trying hard to recall who this woman was. The figure looked familiar, as if he had seen her somewhere before.
Suddenly, he realized that the mysterious woman was Lisa!
"When was this video taken?" James immediately asked.
Clio replied, "It was an hour after Mrs. Smith disappeared."
James clapped his hands sharply, and in an instant, the truth became clear. James believed that Jennifer leaving this time with Dennis and Kaitlyn must undoubtedly be due to Lisa's meddling!
James was an extremely intelligent person, able to piece together the whole story from a small clue.
He had now roughly figured out the sequence of events. He knew Jennifer better than anyone. Jennifer would never leave without a reason, and she certainly wouldn't decide to take Dennis and Kaitlyn with her and leave the city!
Lindwood City had been their home for decades. It was where they had everything. Especially with Dennis's personality, he had a unique attachment to Lindwood City and wouldn't leave easily.
James could hardly imagine the immense struggle they endured as they left.
He didn't believe Jennifer left because of money, as Jennifer had never been that kind of person, and neither were Dennis and Kaitlyn.
But Jennifer still did it, which meant there was only one possibility: the reason lay with him!
James comprehended everything. Jennifer chose to leave him because there was only one possibility: her departure would be beneficial to him. She believed that, in her absence, James would fare better.
With this, James's eyes became a bit moist, and his nose tingled.
Clio, seeing him like this, felt a slight tremor in her heart. She had known James for a while and had never seen him cry.
Jennifer going crazy was one thing, but Dennis and Kaitlyn following suit made James both angry and deeply moved!
It was quite ironic. He once left Jennifer for a similar reason.
And now Jennifer, Dennis, and Kaitlyn had left him for the same reason.
He narrowed his eyes and softly murmured, "Lisa, do you think by doing this, I will marry you? You overestimate yourself."
Then he said to Clio, "Clio, I know the direction now. I'll handle the rest. Thank you for your help these past few days."
Clio, seeing James's gratitude, became a bit flustered and quickly waved her hand, saying, "It's nothing, just a small favor."
James smiled and didn't say more, silently remembering this favor.
Seeing James about to leave, Clio bit her lip and said, "Jim, are you sure you don't need my help anymore?"
This was the first time she called him Jimes, a bit presumptuously.
James was slightly taken aback by the name Jimes, then smiled, "Well, no need."
After saying this, he didn't give Clio a chance to speak further and disappeared.
He moved so quickly that even Clio, with her peak second-stage martial artist eyesight, couldn't see where he went.
Clio stood there for a while, a look of disappointment on her face, and murmured, "Actually, I really wanted to go with you."
Of course, James couldn't hear this.
Now, after leaving, James immediately called home.
The call was quickly answered by his father, Saxon, who sounded both surprised and annoyed, "You actually called home!"
With this, James felt a bit embarrassed. After some small talk, he said, "Dad, can you get me Lisa's contact information?"
Saxon was clearly surprised by this request, then laughed, "Have you finally decided to marry Lisa?"
James just intended to explain, but Saxon continued, "It's good that you've come to your senses. Lisa is a good match for you. You know what Alistair is like. He doesn't want to kick you out. He's been looking at your photos a lot lately. Come back, Alistair is getting old."
With this, James fell silent.
Saxon, sensing something wrong from James's prolonged silence, frowned and said sternly, "You still haven't decided to come back?"
James sighed, "Dad, I will come back, but not now."
"You!" Saxon was visibly incensed. He wanted to hang up the phone but couldn't bring himself to do it. It had been quite some time since he last spoke with James.
After a while, he calmed down and asked, "Tell me, why do you need Lisa's contact information?"
James didn't hide anything and explained the situation to Saxon.
"Dad, Jennifer is really important to me. I can't let her down." James said sincerely. Saxon was silent for a while, then sighed, "Alright, I can give you Lisa's number, but you must bring her back to see us, understand?"
