Chapter 215 we meet again
Cormac's eyes widened, his breath catching in his throat. He stared at James, his face a mask of disbelief. The arrogance that had oozed from him moments before had evaporated, replaced by a raw, primal fear.
James's brow furrowed, his jaw tightening. He pressed down harder, a sickening crack echoing through the room. Cormac's face contorted in agony, his voice a strangled cry. "Stop! Please! I'll talk! I'll tell you everything!"
Tears welled in Cormac's eyes, blurring his vision. The tough guy, the one who had swaggered and threatened, was reduced to a whimpering mess.
"Pathetic," James spat, his voice laced with disgust. He lifted his foot, the pressure releasing with a sigh. He turned and walked towards Harmony, his gaze unwavering.
He wasn't worried about them running. They wouldn't dare. Even in health conditions, they couldn't outrun him. Now, battered and bruised, escape was impossible.
They cursed Jared in their hearts. He hadn't warned them about James's true strength, leaving them to face this brutal reality.
James reached Harmony, who was still in a daze. He waved a hand in front of her face, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. "Harmony, You okay there?"
Harmony blinked, snapping out of her reverie. She swallowed hard, her voice a whisper. "Are you really James?"
"No kidding, who else would I be?" James rolled his eyes, his tone laced with irritation.
Harmony couldn't help herself. She walked over, her fingers tracing the contours of James's arms and back, her touch hesitant and filled with disbelief.
James, enjoying her bewildered expression, didn't interrupt her. But soon, Harmony's curiosity turned into something more… She began to pinch his chest, his butt, her touch becoming bolder, more playful. He couldn't take it anymore. He slapped her hand away, his voice sharp. "What are you doing? "
Harmony was confused. By his touch, she found James's muscles weren't particularly impressive, just like an average person.
'How could he fight so well? His performance had been like something out of an action movie, a whirlwind of power and precision.' She thought.
"When did you learn martial arts!?" Harmony's beautiful eyes sparkled with curiosity.
'James was too amazing. He was skilled in medicine, sorcery, and now, martial arts? How could any man compete with him?' she pondered.
James smiled, still enjoying her amazement. He waved his hand dismissively. "I taught myself."
Harmony didn't believe him. She thought he was showing off, but she didn't feel any aversion. On the contrary, she found him inexplicably cute and handsome, her heart pounding with a strange, unfamiliar feeling.
James put away his playful demeanor, his expression turning serious. "I hope this incident serves as a lesson for you," he said, his voice firm. "In the future, if you encounter similar situations, never put yourself in danger, understand? If something really happens, have you thought about how heartbroken your family would be?"
Harmony had been sheltered her entire life. She had never been scolded like this. She felt uncomfortable, wanting to argue, but when she met James's serious gaze, she faltered.
Her initial annoyance melted away, replaced by a strange warmth. She nodded obediently, her voice soft. "I understand. I'm sorry."
James didn't push it. He knew saying too much could backfire.
Harmony realized that being around James gave her a sense of security she had never felt before. She wanted to stay by his side. When James turned to leave with Cormac and the others, she followed, her voice firm. "I'll go with you."
James frowned slightly. "It's so late. Why don't you go to rest? Why are you coming along?"
Harmony's voice trembled slightly. "I'm scared."
"What are you scared of?"
"I'm just scared. I only feel safe when I'm with you."
James was speechless for a moment. He understood. She had been through a terrifying ordeal. Jared was in the same city, not far away. It wouldn't take long to deal with him, and with him around, there was no real danger. He nodded. "Alright, you can come, but you have to stay by my side and don't run around."
"Okay!!" Harmony nodded vigorously, her eyes shining with relief.
She felt inexplicably happy, like a child who had just received a long-desired toy.
Meanwhile, Jared, having learned James and Harmony's location, rushed to Evergreen Shores. He had just arrived in the city, rented a villa, and planned to deal with those two "bastards" properly.
During his journey from Lindwood City, he had searched online for information. The most reliable source claimed that James had scared him into impotence. If he raped Harmony in front of James, his impotence might be cured.
The thought sent a shiver of excitement down his spine. His eyes gleamed with anticipation, his body trembling slightly. He glanced at the clock. It had been almost half an hour, and Cormac and his crew hadn't returned. He impatiently urged, "Soren Fitzgerald, are the five people you hired reliable? It's been half an hour, and there's still no sign of them."
Soren, Jared's trusted aide, quickly responded. "Mr. Perry, rest assured. Cormac and his team are all tough guys, each with exceptional skills. Especially Cillian and Alaric, who are retired fighters with formidable strength. Capturing James and Harmony should be very easy! Evergreen Shores is a bit of a distance from here, so it takes some time."
Jared nodded, feeling a bit more relaxed. Soren was known for his steady character and never boasted. If he said it was a sure thing, then it probably was.
He whistled, preparing to take a shower to wash off the fatigue and then properly torment those two "bastards."
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Jared paused, his excitement rising. "Could it be that they've brought the people back?!"
Soren said, "It's possible."
Jared's eyes darted around the room. He had been treated with some ointment at the hospital earlier, and it felt sticky and uncomfortable. Since the people were already brought back, he wasn't in a hurry. He decided to take a shower first and then deal with the two "bastards" in his most relaxed state.
"I'm going to take a shower first. You settle them in and wait for me to come out," Jared instructed.
Soren nodded. "Yes, Mr. Perry!"
Jared whistled as he went upstairs to shower. He hadn't felt this invigorated in a long time. He even felt signs of regaining his former vigor.
After Jared went upstairs, Soren personally went to open the door, feeling quite excited. If this task was completed successfully, Jared would be pleased, and his reward would be substantial.
Opening the door, he saw Cormac, his face bruised and swollen, and was stunned. "Cormac, what happened to your face?"
Cormac forced a dry smile; his shame was evident. "Soren..."
Soren quickly noticed that it wasn't just Cormac; the others were also bruised and battered, looking miserable. With his experience, he immediately realized something was wrong!
"Did the mission fail?!" Soren's expression became serious.
At that moment, a man walked out from behind Cormac, smiling and saying, "I did that to his face. Soon, your face will look the same."
It was James.
Seeing the grinning James, Soren's pupils contracted instantly. He realized something was terribly wrong and turned to run.
But he was no match for James's speed. Just as he turned, James grabbed his hair and yanked him back, lifting Soren off the ground and slamming him heavily onto the floor.
"Where do you think you're going?" James squatted down, his smile widening as he patted Soren's face. "Where's Jared? Wasn't he looking for me? Where did he go?"
James glanced around the house but didn't see Jared, feeling a bit puzzled.
'Could Jared have left early?' he thought.
Soren's eyes widened in shock, unable to utter a complete sentence. His first thought was that Cormac and the others had betrayed him! But then he remembered their injuries and realized it was unlikely.
There was only one possibility left—James was a master fighter!!
Two other burly men were eating inside the house. Seeing this sudden scene, they were dumbfounded and dropped their food.
Soren quickly shouted at the two burly men, "What are you sitting there for? Attack James now!"
The two burly men, following Soren's orders, picked up beer bottles from the table and charged at James aggressively.
Unfortunately, they charged fast but flew even faster. Before they could get close to James, he kicked them away, causing a commotion that startled Jared, who was showering upstairs.
However, Jared didn't think much of it and continued to enjoy his shower, cleaning himself thoroughly, unaware that danger was getting closer.
After his shower, he put on clean clothes, whistled as he styled his hair and sprayed cologne, then started downstairs.
He was excited, coming out from the second-floor hallway of the duplex villa. Seeing the front door open, he thought it was clear that Cormac and the others had brought James and Harmony back!
He quickened his pace, eager to see the expressions on James and Harmony's faces.
However, as he turned the corner of the stairs and looked into the hall, he saw a scene completely different from what he had imagined.
"Hello, Jared, we meet again."
James was sitting on top of Soren and the two burly men, waving and smiling at him.
