Chapter 185 He Came in With Me
A moment ago, James's eating manner was quite unseemly, but in the next instant, his demeanor underwent a tremendous transformation. His every gesture exuded an air of elegance, making him appear like a completely different person, more aristocratic than anyone else present.
This change made everyone question if they were hallucinating.
At James's retort, Jared's eyebrows twitched violently, and his mouth opened, but he couldn't find any words to counter.
He quickly regained his composure, realizing that he had been intimidated by James. He felt an immense sense of humiliation as if a noble from the royal family had been insulted by a beggar on the street.
So, he immediately flew into a rage, clenching his fists. "What about you? Do you think I don't dare? With just one command, someone will come and kick you out! Do you think someone like you deserves to attend a banquet at this level? Everyone here is worth over a billion dollars, but you, you probably don't have five hundred dollars!"
He was clearly losing his composure, his anger and shame making him look completely out of place in his suit and tie. He seemed more like a street thug, causing those around him to frown and distance themselves.
In contrast, James faced Jared's insults with an unchanged expression, calm and unhurried, exuding an air of tranquility that stood in stark contrast to Jared's agitation.
He looked at Jared as if he were a fool. "Are you hosting tonight's banquet?"
"Not exactly," Jared replied, shaking his head.
James replied bluntly, "Since you are not the host, what does my presence here have to do with you? You're the eldest son of the Perry Family, yet you're so narrow-minded that you can't stand someone eating in front of you?"
"You!" James's retort left Jared speechless, especially with the mocking glances from the other guests, which made him feel extremely uncomfortable.
Some guests who initially looked down on James now found him less objectionable. If nothing else, James's composure had outshone many of the younger attendees.
"Nonsense!" Jared snorted heavily. "A lowly person is still lowly. No matter how well you speak, you can't change your lowly status! I don't care how you got in here, but get out now. This is not a place for someone like you! As a member of tonight's banquet, I cannot tolerate a lowly person sullying this event!"
He repeatedly referred to James as a lowly person, his words dripping with a sense of superiority and genuine disdain.
Then he waved his hand and said, "Someone, get the security to throw this lowly person out."
Soon, the security arrived. Seeing James's attire, they frowned and said unkindly, "Please leave."
Jared crossed his arms and looked at James with a victorious look on his face, his face full of smugness. His expression seemed to say, "Aren't you good at arguing? Let's see you argue now. Challenge me? You're far from it!"
James frowned slightly, feeling a bit displeased. He had no interest in tonight's banquet; if it weren't for Michael, he wouldn't have come at all. But that didn't mean he would allow Jared to humiliate him.
"Who said I snuck in?" James said, "I came with..."
Before he could finish his sentence, a voice came from behind him.
Immediately, a tall and slender woman in high heels approached. It was Harmony.
She said, "He came with me. Is there a problem?"
She was already very beautiful, and tonight, dressed to the nines with a touch of makeup, her beauty was even more perfectly showcased. Paired with her expensive evening gown, she was stunningly beautiful, making it hard for anyone to look away.
Jared's pupils narrowed as he saw Harmony, clearly taken aback by her beauty. He felt awkward, his eyes showing an unprecedented heat.
As for the onlookers, most of them recognized Harmony and were equally stunned by her appearance. Her words further surprised them.
'Harmony is the daughter of the Brown Family. Does she actually know this ordinary man?' they thought.
The two security guards also recognized Harmony. Seeing her approach, they became nervous and greeted her. "Ms. Brown."
Harmony noticed James's attire and the food remnants on the table. She paused, her expression peculiar.
'James really knows how to create surprises!' she thought to herself.
"Ms. Brown, did we hear correctly? This gentleman came in with you?" one of the security guards cautiously asked.
Harmony replied calmly, "Strictly speaking, he came in with my brother. His name is James, and he is the guest of the Brown Family. We invited him to join the banquet tonight. I heard you were planning to throw him out?"
Her tone was very calm, but there was a hint of displeasure in her words, which immediately made the two security guards feel immense pressure. Cold sweat broke out on their foreheads, and they quickly shook their heads, saying, "No, no, we absolutely didn't mean that! Since Mr. Smith is the guest of Mr. Brown, how could we throw him out?"
Harmony nodded. "Since it's a misunderstanding, why are you still here?"
Fearing Harmony's wrath, the two security guards quickly excused themselves.
They were just ordinary security guards, and they knew if they incurred Harmony's anger, they would immediately lose their jobs. After all, the Brown family partially owned this five-star hotel.
Jared watched this scene, his face turning extremely ugly.
Suddenly, the guests started talking about Jared.
"Harmony and Jared are already engaged, aren't they? Why is she with another man?"
"Yeah, that's strange. Could it be that they already broke up?"
"That's possible. When Harmony came over, she didn't even glance at Jared but instead had a close interaction with James."
Listening to the guests' discussions, Jared felt like his heart was about to explode.
Seeing James and Harmony about to leave, Jared couldn't help but stop them. He stared intently at Harmony. "What is your relationship with him?"
