Chapter 195 Maria's Tears
James knew immediately that Maria was saying this on purpose.
Five years had passed, and her mischievous nature hadn't changed at all.
He instinctively wanted to refuse, but on second thought, since she had already found him, he couldn't hide forever. It was better to confront her and clear things up with her.
Moreover, given Maria's personality, if James ignored her after not seeing her for five years, no one could predict what shocking things she might do. His peaceful life would certainly be disrupted, and his family's tasks would be jeopardized.
After weighing his options, James said, "Alright."
Maria immediately beamed and gave James a knowing look as if to say, "Smart choice."
However, at this moment, Harmony couldn't stand it any longer. She inexplicably felt very annoyed and immediately stood up, saying, "Ms. Jackson, you must be mistaken. His name is James, and he has a wife."
"What?" Maria's eyes widened in shock. "You're already married?"
Her tone was icy, revealing waves of anger.
'This damned James has actually gotten married without letting me know. It is simply unforgivable!' she thought furiously.
James turned his face away awkwardly. Seeing Maria's furious expression, he felt a wave of panic. He glared at Harmony, thinking she was really stirring up trouble at the worst possible time.
Harmony became even angrier and cursed him a hundred times in her heart when she saw that James was not only ashamed, but dared to glare at her.
"No way, this guy is already married?"
"He has the guts to get involved despite being married?"
"Now I have a chance. Ms. Jackson surely won't choose a married man."
"So exciting, just when it seems hopeless, there's a glimmer of hope."
The previously despondent young men were suddenly revived, filled with renewed energy.
Maria looked at Harmony and asked, "Are you his wife?"
Harmony blushed and then shook her head, saying, "I'm a friend of his wife."
Maria let out an "Oh" and then turned back to James, smiling. "It doesn't matter. I don't mind. As long as he is my destined one, I can accept everything about him."
Upon hearing this, the young men's hearts were dropping to the ground.
They had just regained their spirits and were once again plunged into despair, feeling utterly crushed.
Harmony, feeling annoyed, straightened her neck, ready to start scolding. But before she could speak, Michael pulled her back, giving her a frantic look to stop meddling. He knew offending Maria would bring disaster to the entire Brown Family.
Harmony had no choice but to stay aside. She glared at James fiercely and sat down sulking.
Although she was very upset, she didn't lose her composure. She knew Maria's background was too powerful to offend.
She could only curse James in her heart, calling him a traitor and a scoundrel.
James shook his head with a bitter smile. He hadn't expected Maria to find him.
After Maria and James disappeared from the banquet, everyone started inquiring about James, wanting to know what kind of person he was to have won Ms. Jackson's favor over all the other young men present. It was simply unbelievable for them to accept.
"Scoundrel, pervert, heartless man."
Harmony muttered through gritted teeth, staring in the direction James had left. Michael, hearing her words, sighed helplessly. He knew clearly that his sister had also fallen for James.
In his mind, James's status rose. He found that not only was James skilled in medicine, but he also had a special way with women.
After leaving the banquet with Maria, they headed straight to a room.
"Everyone, please leave."
Upon entering the presidential suite, Maria waved her hand at the bodyguards.
"Yes, Miss!"
After the bodyguards left and closed the door, only James and Maria remained in the large room, creating an awkward atmosphere.
James felt awkward, rubbed his nose, and said, "It's been a while since we last met. You've grown up."
However, Maria didn't speak. She just stared at him without blinking.
James felt uncomfortable under her gaze and said, "Actually, I had my reasons for leaving back then. I specifically left you a letter. By the way, you didn't receive that letter, did you?"
There was no letter. James was purely making it up. He had left in a hurry, changed his identity, cut off all contact, and disappeared without a trace. Not just Maria but everyone he knew had no idea where he had gone.
This even led to rumors that James had died.
Maria still didn't speak and just stared at him intently without moving. Only her increasingly heaving chest indicated her current emotional turmoil.
James also fell silent, but he couldn't hold out for more than two minutes. Maria's gaze was too terrifying, and her breathing was becoming increasingly rapid.
"I'm sorry, I did leave rather abruptly without saying a word to you," James sighed, feeling somewhat guilty. In fact, it wasn't just Maria; he hadn't had time to notify many of his friends. The family task had come so suddenly that he was whisked away overnight without any time to react.
Hearing his sigh, Maria couldn't hold back any longer. Her beautiful eyes quickly filled with tears, which soon overflowed.
Immediately, Maria opened her arms and lunged at James, hugging him tightly and biting down on his chest.
She bit hard, causing James to grimace in pain.
But James endured the pain, not daring to push her away.
Maria cried and bit James with all her might. Her tears quickly soaked his clothes.
After nearly a minute, Maria finally let go. But seeing that she had bitten through James's clothes and that blood was seeping through the fabric, she immediately looked distressed and scolded James, "Why are you so stupid? Why didn't you push me away?"
Seeing her nervous expression, He knew that Maria hadn't changed at all.
"Hey, what are you doing?" James grabbed his shirt, warily watching Maria.
Although she had grown up, she still acted as she had before. She was trying to undress him.
Maria impatiently said, "Let go of your hand. I want to see the wound!"
With that, she unceremoniously slapped away James's hand, which was holding his shirt.
James's shirt was pulled open, revealing his well-built upper body.
Maria blushed slightly at the sight of James's muscular physique and his eight-pack abs. But when she saw the clear and bloody bite mark on his chest, her eyes reddened with sadness again. She reached out and gently touched the edge of the wound.
"Does it hurt?" she asked softly.
James took two steps back, pushed her away to keep some distance and smiled. "It doesn't hurt. This is nothing. You know how strong I am. Remember when I fought with Jeffery and the others? That was brutal. This little bite is nothing."
Maria snorted and glared at James. "You deserve the pain for abandoning me for five years!"
"Hey, hey, hey, let's make it clear. What do you mean? We don't have any special relationship!"
"You still won't admit it! Can you deny that we bathed together and slept together?"
James almost laughed. "That was when we were kids! You were only four or five years old! I was helping you bathe as a big brother. And as for sleeping, you climbed into my bed yourself! You were only seven!"
"That still counts!" Maria said, hands on her hips. "Even my dad never bathed me. You're the only man who has seen my body. Are you trying to deny it?"
James was speechless but used to her temper. Since Maria was thirteen or fourteen, she had been clinging to James, believing she was his girlfriend.
"Alright, enough. How did you know I was here?" James asked seriously. He was genuinely curious. His tasks were usually very confidential within the family, known to only a few.
Maria snorted and said, "If I hadn't accidentally seen Uncle's phone, I wouldn't have known you were hiding in Lindwood City."
'So that's how you find me.' He felt relieved.
James asked, "Does anyone else know this besides you?"
Seeing James's serious expression, Maria didn't hide anything and said, "No, not even Uncle knows I found out you're in Lindwood City."
"That's good."
James was now living under a new identity, and it wouldn't be good if word got out.
Maria walked over and hugged James again, resting her head on his chest. Her voice became soft and filled with longing. "James, I've missed you so much these past five years. Jeffery and the others said you might be dead, but I never believed it. I knew you wouldn't die so easily."
Soon, James felt something, and his body stiffened. He realized that Maria had developed a good physique in the five years they hadn't seen each other.
