Chapter 190 I Will Find Him

"May I ask, Mr. Jackson, what brings you to Lindwood City this time?" Joe inquired cautiously after some pleasantries. As a man in politics, Joe understood the influence of the Jackson family better than anyone. If he offended Mr. Jackson, his career would be over.

Recalling the recent arrival of Herman from Emerald Isle City, which had already made him anxious, Joe now felt even more pressure with the arrival of someone even more significant from Washington. His heart could hardly bear the strain.

He did not believe that someone of Mr. Jackson's stature would come to Lindwood City on a whim. There must be some hidden agenda.

Joe was skeptical about the rumors that Mr. Jackson was here to find a son-in-law. So, after some familiar conversation, Joe couldn't wait to ask.

As soon as he asked, Michael, Douglas, and the others looked at Mr. Jackson with anticipation and nervousness.

Mr. Jackson chuckled, glanced at his daughter, and said, "There are no instructions. This trip to Lindwood City was entirely my daughter's idea."

"Oh?"

Everyone's eyes turned to Mr. Jackson's daughter.

Joe felt a bit relieved, but not entirely. Even if Mr. Jackson and his daughter were genuinely here for leisure, Joe couldn't afford to be careless. Any slight misstep in entertaining Mr. Jackson could impact his career. He had worked hard to reach his current position and didn't want to jeopardize it over minor errors.

He smiled and turned to the woman. "I see. Lindwood City has many unique street foods and beautiful scenery worth exploring. If you're interested, you should definitely check them out."

Mr. Jackson's daughter remained silent, still veiled, revealing only her cold eyes. Yet, she did not come across as rude or unpleasant. It seemed natural for her to be so proud, aloof and untouchable.

"To be honest, my daughter came to Lindwood City to get to know some of outstanding young men of the city," Mr. Jackson said with a smile.

Immediately, the dozen or so young men, including Jared and Brian, widened their eyes, their hearts racing. They instinctively straightened their backs, trying to present their most handsome and charming selves.

Michael felt a pang of regret. The Brown Family did not have any sufficiently outstanding young men. He had brought two nephews tonight, but they were average in both looks and abilities, lacking competitiveness compared to Jared and the others.

Suddenly, he thought of James. Perhaps James could compete? But he quickly dismissed the absurd notion.

What was he thinking? First of all, James was a married man, which already disqualified him. Secondly, James was only skilled in medicine. In terms of male charm, he was far behind. His looks alone couldn't compare to Jared and the others, not to mention his background and his cheap attire tonight.

Joe was stunned. He hadn't expected the rumors that Mr. Jackson was really here to choose a son-in-law in Lindwood City to be true.

"That's great. There are many outstanding young men in Lindwood City. The ones behind me, like Jared, are some of the best," Joe said, pointing to Jared and the others.

As Mr. Jackson swept over them, the young men were filled with excitement. Each stood tall with a determined look on his face. They were eager to rush forward and declare to Mr. Jackson. "I am the most outstanding young man in all of Lindwood City."

Mr. Jackson looked over at them and smiled, nodding slightly. "Not bad; you all look quite spirited," he said.

The young men were even more thrilled by Mr. Jackson's praise.

Only the keen observers could tell that, despite his words, Mr. Jackson did not show much appreciation; in fact, he seemed quite indifferent. His daughter didn't even change her expression.

After entering the banquet hall, Mr. Jackson and Ms. Jackson did not immediately attend the event. Instead, they first went to a room to rest for a while before making an appearance.

As they watched them enter the room, the crowd began to discuss.

"I can't believe the rumor is true. Mr. Jackson is really here to find a husband for his daughter in Lindwood City!"

"This is fantastic! If I could win Ms. Jackson's favor, I'd be set for life!"

"Absolutely."

"You all talk as if you've already succeeded. I advise you to give up early. You have no chance against me."

"Are you kidding? Do you think you can get the swan when you're just a toad? Dream on! With me here, none of you stand a chance. I am Ms. Jackson's destined one!"

"Don't talk about shit, none of you seem to have any self-awareness."

The group of young men began to attack each other, both openly and covertly.

Jared watched disdainfully from the side, not participating. In his view, these people posed no threat to him; they were all useless. He thought that unless Ms. Jackson was blind, she would never choose them.

The biggest threat to him was his brother Brian. As long as he could outshine Brian, his chances of success would be very high.

Apart from Mr. Jackson's status, her beauty was enough to drive him mad.

'She is like an angel from heaven!' he exclaimed inwardly.

However, what they didn't know was that once Mr. Jackson and Ms. Jackson entered the room, the high and mighty Mr. Jackson did something shocking. He suddenly bent over and took two steps back to keep his distance from Ms. Jackson, and his demeanor became very respectful and humble.

With some trepidation, he said, "Miss, I took the liberty just now."

If Joe and the others outside saw this scene, they would be so shocked.

'Isn't Mr. Jackson Ms. Jackson's father? Why is he suddenly so humble and fearful towards her?

'One must know that Mr. Jackson was a big shot in Washington!'

These questions would definitely pop up in their minds.

Ms. Jackson waved her hand and said, "It's fine. You did well just now. You fooled everyone. "

"Thank you for your praise," Mr. Jackson said respectfully.

Then, Mr. Jackson cautiously asked, "Miss, have you found the person you are looking for?"

Ms. Jackson sat on the sofa, resting with her eyes closed, and did not answer.

Mr. Jackson dared not show any dissatisfaction. He stood obediently to the side, his back still slightly bent, and he didn't dare to look directly at Ms. Jackson as if looking at her directly would be a form of desecration, an act of great disrespect.

Finally, about two minutes later, Ms. Jackson spoke, "I will find him. That guy disappeared without a word for five years. This time, I'll teach him a lesson!"
