Chapter 14 The Power of a Husband!
James had always been a very easygoing person. No matter how much he was mocked or insulted, he could endure it.
But Jennifer's betrayal was something he truly couldn't bear!
Her top was torn, and suddenly, her upper body was exposed. Jennifer's face changed drastically. Anger mixed with panic, she struggled forcefully and cursed, "James, you are outrageous! You, this useless coward, dare to lay a hand on me? Fine, go ahead, try to violate me if you dare!"
She was furious. How dare this coward resist her! It was unforgivable!
After five years of marriage, she had long seen through James. He was a weak, incompetent, lazy good-for-nothing!
Visibly, she no longer regarded James as a husband, just a dog she kept. When she was in a bad mood, she would scold him, knowing he wouldn't talk back.
So, she didn't see anything wrong with her interactions with other men.
James let out a cold laugh. He was well aware of Jennifer's disdain for him. Initially, he had planned to continue enduring it as his five-year deadline was approaching.
He intended to reveal a new side of himself to Jennifer when the time came. But now, Jennifer's actions had crossed a line, and he could no longer bear it.
With a tearing sound, James ripped Jennifer's pants as well. Suddenly, Jennifer's exquisite body was exposed before James—snow-white skin, long and straight thighs, a flat stomach without an ounce of fat, and the curve of her upper body.
Beautiful, truly beautiful.
Jennifer's figure was undoubtedly top-notch! Even though James had been living with Jennifer for five years, seeing her like this still deeply astonished him.
He was a man, a virile man. At this moment, he couldn't remain calm. A surge of heat rushed to his head, his eyes reddened, and his breathing quickened.
He wasn't someone who acted on impulse easily, but now, he was genuinely angry.
Jennifer was his wife, and he should have exercised the power of a husband long ago.
On their wedding night, Jennifer had refused him under the pretext of feeling unwell. He had been considerate and didn't insist, but his kindness had only fueled Jennifer's arrogance. Eventually, when he desired her, Jennifer refused to comply.
James was not a man led by his carnal instincts. He endured, believing that one day he could win Jennifer over with his charm. But Jennifer's lack of remorse now had completely shattered his last bit of reason.
Seeing the situation turning sour, the usually timid and cowardly husband had transformed into a beast, disregarding her anger as he pinned her down, his hands exploring her body. Jennifer finally felt fear creeping in.
She protested, "James! I warn you, don't be so audacious! Let me go, or I will really get angry... Mmm..."
Before she could finish her sentence, James covered her mouth, causing her eyes to widen. Her body stiffened, feeling disgusted as if a pig had kissed her. She struggled desperately, managing to free her right hand and landing a hard slap on James' face.
James paused for a moment after receiving the slap, then continued. Today, he was throwing caution to the wind! Five years of accumulated humiliation erupted at that moment.
Jennifer was terrified; she fought with all her might, but it was in vain; James now was just too brutal, brutal to the point where he was unrecognizable, brutal to the extent that it instilled fear in Jennifer.
She screamed loudly, but with the family members gone, the empty house echoed her cries.
Finally, she couldn't hold back and started crying.
"James, you unfeeling... I merely went out to have dinner with friends. Do you really need to treat me this way, sob..." Jennifer claimed, her face awash with tears, broke down crying in distress.
"Haha! Just going out for a meal with a friend? Is that what you call it?" James scoffed and found it almost comical. "Jennifer, you really think I'm a fool, don't you? If I hadn't followed you, by now you would have been in bed with him!"
He continued, "Yes, I admit that I've made you lose face these past five years, made the Johnson Family lose face! In your eyes, I'm just a useless waste, unable to fight back or talk back. I've endured your insults and humiliations."
He added, "But is this a reason for you to cheat? In these five years, I believe I haven't done anything to wrong you, always obeying your every command, as obedient as a dog! Jennifer, I know you despise me from the bottom of your heart, think I'm dirty, you won't even let me touch your clothes!"
James reminded her, "Since you dislike me so much, look down on me. You could have divorced me. I wouldn't have clung to you. I've hinted at it before, right? If you wanted a divorce, I wouldn't have refused. But you, you won't divorce, always flirting with other men in front of me. Is this how a wife should behave?"
He questioned, "Do you enjoy humiliating me, making me the subject of ridicule?!"
James' eyes were bloodshot. He had never been so agitated before, and his chest was filled with anger. He glared at the woman who had cried in fear, a face he had seen for five years.
After five years of living together, it was impossible not to have feelings. James was a very traditional person; even though Jennifer treated him like this, he still held her in his heart. But often, the deeper the feelings, the deeper the hurt!
Jennifer was stunned, staring motionlessly at the man breathing heavily before her, her husband, who had suddenly become a stranger.
Suddenly, she realized she might have gone too far.
"How dare you blame me? If you weren't so spineless, would I have sought comfort elsewhere?" Jennifer retorted.
James looked at her and said seriously, "I am not a piece of trash."
Jennifer raised an eyebrow in surprise. Normally, she would have shown disdain, but now, she hesitated to speak, afraid of provoking James again. The current James made her nervous.
"Whether you're useless or not isn't proven by words, but by actions," she softened her tone slightly as she said this.
James clenched his fists and thought to himself, 'Prove it? Of course, I will prove it. Then you'll all have to see me in a new light.'
He didn't say these words aloud; they would be meaningless.
Seeing James silent, Jennifer spoke softly, "James, could you please let me go? You're hurting me."
She squirmed a bit, showing a pained expression.
It turned out James had inadvertently caused her pain.
After the outburst, James noticed Jennifer's demeanor had become less arrogant, even showing signs of fear. His anger had subsided somewhat, and he released Jennifer, pulling a blanket over her.
He said, "Let's get a divorce."
James stood by the window and spoke these words.
Jennifer's body trembled as she looked at James' desolate figure. At that moment, she felt an unexpected pang of heartache.
