Chapter 369 Duel!
Emberlyn was already the main attraction. Her killer looks and smokin' hot body made her the ultimate eye candy in this hormone-fueled joint.
So when everyone saw Emberlyn fall into James's arms, clinging on it so tightly, they all froze, green with envy, wishing they could swap places with James right then and there!
"What the hell are you doing?" James blurted out.
His heart started pounding, and he quickly leaned back to put some space between them.
He was ticked off. Emberlyn was getting bolder to mess with him like this.
But he had to admit, Emberlyn's body was indeed sexy. Just a couple of seconds of contact, and he was already feeling it.
Emberlyn's face was flushed, too. Despite her flirty and daring nature, she only acted this way around James. With other guys, she was super reserved and never let anyone get close, let alone pull stunts like this.
In her eyes, she had already decided James was her guy. She dreamed of being with him and longed to get intimate with him. However, she worried that James might care.
"Where are you poking me? My legs are going weak. So embarrassing," Emberlyn teased.
James could tell she was faking it. The spots he poked could only fix her posture; they definitely wouldn't make her legs go weak.
James wanted to have a fit. But looking at Emberlyn's gorgeous face, he just couldn't.
Just then, a series of hurried footsteps came from behind. James turned around and saw a tall guy, fists clenched, storming over.
Seeing this dude, James was stunned for a moment. Then he quickly turned back and saw a glimmer of sly smile in Emberlyn's eyes. He immediately got it—today's events were all part of Emberlyn's plan.
She was using James to get rid of Walter.
The guy storming over was Walter.
Having used all sorts of tricks, he finally managed to move Emberlyn so much that she offered to ask him out for a workout.
Fitness and boxing were his jam. He wasn't great at business, but when it came to fighting, he was a pro. Even a few special forces guys together might not be able to take him down.
As Derek's grandson, he had been trained from a young age and had total confidence in his fighting skills.
So when he heard Emberlyn invite him to Iron Fist Boxing Club for a workout, he was over the moon, practically jumping for joy, and barely slept that night.
In a place like this, he could show off his strengths and surely make Emberlyn fall for him.
But he never expected to see such a maddening scene when he got back from making a phone call.
James, that jerk, was actually all over his beloved goddess, and they were way too close. He was fuming.
"James, how dare you mess with my fiancée! You looking for trouble?" Walter stormed up to James, cursing and gritting his teeth in rage.
James sighed. Seriously, of all places, how did he end up running into Walter here?
But Walter's words threw James for a loop. He turned to Emberlyn, curious, "You two are engaged?"
Emberlyn snapped back, "No way! I never agreed to it. He's just delusional."
Then she turned her wrath on Walter, "Walter, stop talking nonsense. I never agreed to be your fiancée."
Walter's face twisted in anger. He tried to keep his cool and said to Emberlyn, "Emberlyn, our parents have already agreed. Don't be so stubborn. I'll make you the happiest woman in the world. Trust me."
Emberlyn, unimpressed by Walter's devotion, just spat out, "Idiot."
Walter seemed used to Emberlyn's attitude and didn't get mad at her. Instead, he focused his anger on James, "James, I'm warning you, Emberlyn is my fiancée. Stay away from her, or you'll regret it."
James chuckled, "Walter, is this how you treat your benefactor? Should I call Derek and have him set you straight?"
Walter's face went pale, and he looked seriously bummed out. James was Derek's big-time benefactor. Even if Walter wanted to take a swing at James, he couldn't.
This mix of frustration and helplessness was eating him up inside.
"I really like Emberlyn. What will it take for you to back off? I'll give you anything you want if you leave her alone," Walter said, his eyes red with desperation.
Emberlyn's eyes lit up with a mischievous glint. "Why don't you two settle it like men?"
Walter perked up, "What do you mean by 'like men'?"
"A duel," Emberlyn said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You two fight. Loser has to leave me alone and can't go back on their word."
Walter's eyes lit up, and he clapped his hands, "Great, let's do it the man's way, a duel."
He said this with a big grin, rubbing his hands together, and shot James a mocking look.
Even though James had shown off his strength before, lifting a barrel of wine with one hand, Walter was confident he could take him. Fighting was his thing.
To Walter's mind, it seemed like Emberlyn still had feelings for him. By what he was excellent at, she must be showing her love for him.
The thought of pinning James to the ground got him all pumped up, and his grin widened.
James frowned and glared at Emberlyn. By now, he totally got what she was up to. She was using him.
Emberlyn knew how strong he was. Even ten Walters wouldn't stand a chance against him. So she set this up to make Walter back off.
Emberlyn had gotten craftier over the years. She dared to scheme against him, treating him less and less like her big brother.
