Chapter 146: Loren, You Bastard

Jennifer felt her heart melting.
It was melting in James' irresistible tenderness.
The women who had just mocked James were now incredibly jealous. After all, the allure of the two million necklaces, Heart of the Sea was too overwhelming.
Those women with husbands or boyfriends all pinched the men beside them hard, complaining that their men were useless and couldn't compare to James.
Jennifer was moved to tears, her eyes slightly red, and she softly said, "Honey, thank you. I really like this gift."
If it weren't for the crowd and her shyness, she would have kissed James right then and there.
Hearing her call him honey, James felt immensely satisfied. The two million was well spent. Besides, it wasn't his money; Curtis had willingly given it to him. It was truly a joy to spend this money.
"As long as you like it." James held Jennifer's hand and walked over to Barbara and Loren, saying again. "Mr. Schneider, why haven't you paid yet? Don't tell me you can't afford it?"
The mocking smile on James's face was more painful for Loren than being killed outright.
"Are you kidding? Of course, I can afford it!" Loren insisted, but his eyes were evasive, clearly showing his weakness.
The salesperson who had been following him quickly prepared the bill and presented it to Loren, saying, "I've already wrapped this necklace for you. Would you like to pay by card or cash? We support all payment methods."
The salesperson smiled pleasantly and stared intently at Loren.
Although she missed out on the two-million deal, closing this one-million deal would still earn her a substantial commission.
Loren felt even more embarrassed by this situation and wished he could leave immediately. He also regretted agreeing to pay together with James. He never thought that James could actually come up with two million. Now, he knew he was going to be humiliated.
Barbara's eyes flashed as she held Loren's arm and said, "Let's buy it! Otherwise, people will think we can't afford it."
She really liked the necklace, and if this could make Loren buy it for her, that would be great.
However, Loren's face darkened, and he glared at Barbara, thinking she was talking nonsense. Even if he could afford it, he wouldn't buy it; it was too expensive.
"It's just a necklace. What's so great about it? It's not even pretty; it's ugly. I'll buy you a better one some other day," Loren shamelessly said.
James burst out laughing. Loren was so ashamed to come up with such an excuse.
Others also looked on with ridicule. The salesperson was unhappy and said, "Sir, are you trying to deceive me? Nowadays, people like you, who have no money but pretend to be rich, are the worst."
"You!"
Loren was furious. Since his clinic started operating, he hadn't been humiliated like this. He was used to being flattered and couldn't stand the insult. He was about to explode.
"You must apologize to me!" Loren demanded angrily.
The salesperson realized that Loren was a fraud who couldn't possibly afford the necklace. Thinking about how much effort she had wasted and how the real big client was taken by someone else, she got even angrier. "Apologize? Why should I apologize? If you don't have money, don't come to such a high-end place. I've worked here for so long, and you're the biggest fraud I've seen."
The others joined in, pointing at him and making a mockery of him.
Seeing Barbara and Loren's embarrassment, Jennifer felt incredibly happy.
Barbara tugged at Loren's clothes and said, "Just buy it for me. Don't you love me the most? A mere one million is nothing to you. Everyone is watching us, if you don’t buy it, they will think you are a loser."
Her expression turned more aggressive.
Loren was getting angry as Barbara kept urging him to buy the necklace.
So, he said with some anger, "If you want to buy it, buy it yourself. I don't have the money!"
Barbara, being a very proud person, couldn't believe that Loren scolded her in front of so many people.
"Loren, what do you mean? You clearly have the money, so why won't you buy it for me?" she asked.
At that moment, two young women walked in from outside. One of them, a more voluptuous woman, was wearing heavy makeup. When she saw Loren was in the store, her eyes immediately lit up. She quickly walked over to Loren, affectionately linked her arm with his, kissed him on the cheek, and said sweetly, "Honey, what are you doing here? Great! I just saw a diamond ring I like. Buy it for me."
Upon seeing this scene, Barbara's face darkened visibly, and her body started to tremble.
Loren was terrified when he saw this young woman.
'Oh no, how did Susan end up here? This is a disaster,' he yelled in his mind.
The people around were also stunned, their jaws almost dropping to the floor. They couldn't believe that this husband who was just doting on his wife had a mistress.
Jennifer was also shocked. After recognizing the young woman, she suddenly understood. Wasn't this one of the two women James had been staring at earlier? And James had said someone would come to deal with Barbara and Loren.
Jennifer thought, 'How did James know? Could he predict the future?'
Jennifer found it incredible.
James sensed Jennifer's emotions, smiled, and said nothing, making him seem even more mysterious to her.
"Loren! You bastard! You actually found a mistress behind my back! That's why we barely have sex once a month, you always say you're tired. Damn it!" Barbara exploded, slapping Loren hard across the face.
"You son of a bitch!" Loren was also furious and started to fight back. For a moment, the three of them were in a chaotic brawl.
Just ten minutes ago, they were a loving couple.
Now, they were fighting, which was quite ironic.
James couldn't be bothered to watch any longer. He took Jennifer's hand and left.
Jennifer's face was flushed, but she didn't resist. She was unusually obedient, letting James hold her hand, her face beaming with happiness.
"By the way, where did you get the two million?" Jennifer snapped back to reality and asked with a frown.
James didn't hide anything and recounted what had happened the previous night. After listening, Jennifer rolled her eyes at him and scolded him, "James, when did you become so evil?"
James cried out in mock grievance, "What’s wrong with me? I just used the money in a very adequate way!"
Jennifer held up the Heart of the Sea at her collar, her eyes filled with undisguised affection. Suddenly, she thought of something and asked, "James, will you treat other women this well in the future?"
Thinking about what had just happened, even someone as cold as her was moved to tears. 'If it were other women, wouldn't they fall in love with James?' she thought to herself.
