Chapter 339 Stolen Kiss by Emberlyn
"What are you doing here?" James scowled, shoving Emberlyn's hand away from the scar on his face.
Emberlyn had been stoked to find him, but with James like this, her excitement fizzled out.
She'd known James forever. Since she was a kid, she'd had a thing for this flashy, cocky, but big-hearted man who always claimed she bugged him but had her back no matter what.
In her mind, James was always this impressive, good-looking man. She'd never seen him so messed up. If she didn't know him so well, she wouldn't believe this scruffy guy in front of her was James.
She had heard he'd rushed into a fire to save someone and got hurt, but she had no idea it was this bad.
His whole messed-up face and those gnarly scars made Emberlyn's heart ache!
She couldn't even imagine the pain James must've gone through. She'd be in agony from a hot water burn, but James got straight-up burned by flames.
Thinking about it gave Emberlyn goosebumps and made her heart hurt even more, her eyes getting all teary.
"James, that must've hurt like hell, right?" Emberlyn said, trying to touch his face again. He slapped her hand away and said airily, "Hurt? Just a bit. You know I'm built like Superman. This little scratch is nothing. Anyway, aren't you supposed to be in Rainforest City? What are you doing here?"
Seeing him dodge the question, Emberlyn snapped, "Stop it! You got hurt so bad and didn't even tell me, acting like it's no big deal. Do you even care about how I feel?"
They were still on a small path, and even though there weren't many people around but a few watching. Emberlyn was drop-dead gorgeous, with fair skin and a killer figure. In no time, she was drawing a lot of attention, and some people even tried to snap pics with their phones.
Seeing this, James said, "This isn't the place to talk. Let's find somewhere more private."
Emberlyn realized this, too, and nodded. She had a lot to say to James and wanted to clear things up this time.
Emberlyn wasn't alone; she had a few bodyguards with her. "Hello, Mr. James," they said in chorus.
A middle-aged man greeted James respectfully and opened the car door for him as they walked to the car by the roadside.
If Joe and Michael were here and saw this, they'd be freaked out. This middle-aged man was Theodore, who had shown up before.
James already knew who Theodore was and wasn't surprised at all. He just nodded and got into the car.
Emberlyn got in after him, immediately hugging his arm tightly and resting her head on his shoulder. "James, since we last parted, you haven't called me for so long. I missed you so much! You jerk, I'll strangle you," Emberlyn said.
While she said this and pretended to strangle James's arm, her grip was so light it felt more like a tickle.
James felt super awkward with her clinging to him like that, her chest squished up against his arm.
"Come on. You're not a kid anymore. Why are you still acting like this?" James grumbled, yanking his hand out of her grip.
Emberlyn was his sister, and this was just not cool.
But Emberlyn wasn't having it, hugging him even tighter, practically burying his arm in her soft chest. She swayed a bit and said playfully, "Alright."
James put on his best stern face and pretended to be mad, "Let go, or I'll really get mad!"
Emberlyn knew he was just faking it and wasn't scared at all. Instead, she rubbed her chest against him more fiercely, teasing, "James, are you shy? My chest is nice and comfy. Trust me. Try it."
She whispered the last part in his ear, so only he could hear it. The driver and Theodore up front were clueless. James got so flustered he almost had a nosebleed!
Emberlyn was really pushing it, even daring to joke like this. She was getting way too bold.
"Looks like you want a beating!" James flicked her forehead and scolded, "If you don't let go, you won't see me again."
"Ouch, you flicked my forehead!" Emberlyn pouted, glaring at James angrily, "It hurts!" She rubbed her forehead, her face scrunched up in pain.
James took the chance to pull his arm out. Seeing her almost in tears, he knew he might've flicked her a bit too hard and felt a bit bad. He glared at Emberlyn and said, "Who told you not to listen? Stop rubbing. I'll blow on it for you."
Emberlyn immediately moved her hands away, looking at James expectantly, "Hurry up and blow on it. It hurts so much."
James leaned in and gently blew on Emberlyn's forehead. His cool breath made her feel better.
Emberlyn stared at him with wide eyes, her heart racing, alight with happiness. Suddenly, she glanced at James's lips and had a wild idea. Without thinking twice, she leaned in to kiss him.
She'd wanted to kiss James for ages but never had the chance. Now that she finally had an opportunity, she couldn't let it slip.
If she could really kiss James, she'd be willing to go without food for three days.
Her move was so sudden that James was caught off guard. He was focused on blowing on her forehead and slow on the uptake. By the time he realized what was happening, Emberlyn's lips were already close, and he jerked his face away!
But even so, he couldn't dodge completely. Emberlyn's lips brushed the corner of his mouth.
"What are you doing?"
James was furious, leaning back and glaring at Emberlyn.
Emberlyn sighed regretfully. It was such a bummer that James had dodged! She was so close to kissing his lips.
"Nothing, you were blowing so nicely that I accidentally leaned in." Emberlyn felt guilty and didn't dare to look James in the eyes.
James looked at her pretending and felt helpless. It seemed he needed to be more cautious around Emberlyn in the future. She was getting way too bold.
