Chapter 155: Ms. Brown, Please Behave Yourself!

A sly glint flashed in Harmony's eyes. "It's simple, just lend yourself to me for a few days."
James was taken aback and exclaimed, "You actually want me?"
"Relax, it's just for a few days, at most five, at least three," Harmony said, crossing her legs elegantly and lifting her teacup with a pleased expression, completely unaware of the ambiguity in her words.
James's mouth fell open as he stared at Harmony in shock. Then, he declared with righteous indignation, "Ms. Brown, please behave yourself! I am a married man. I would never betray Jennifer. Though I know I am quite exceptional, there is no possibility between us. You should give up."
Harmony spat out a mouthful of tea, spraying it all over James's face. This time, it was even more than what Jennifer had sprayed earlier, drenching James's entire face. Poor James, who had been sprayed by Jennifer not long ago, now found himself the target of Harmony's spray. He was beginning to question his luck.
"What nonsense are you talking about?" Harmony's face turned bright red as she exclaimed, "Nonsense! Who asked you to betray Jennifer? Stop flattering yourself. I just want to borrow you for a few days... No, no, I just want to be with you... No, that's not right either."
Harmony became flustered, unable to articulate her thoughts after several attempts. Finally, she gave up and huffed. "Anyway, stop flattering yourself. I just need you for a few days to help me with something. What were you thinking?"
James sighed in relief and then said cautiously, "Alright, but I won't do anything illegal."
Harmony rolled her eyes. "Even if you wanted to do something illegal, I wouldn't agree."
James grew curious. "So, what exactly do you need my help with?"
Just as Harmony was about to speak, Jennifer returned. Seeing James's face covered in water, she frowned and asked, "James, what happened to your face?"
"Uh, I accidentally choked on my tea and sprayed myself." James quickly made up an excuse.
Jennifer's face darkened. She couldn't imagine how clumsy he would have to be to drink tea and end up spraying it all over his own face..
But with Harmony present, she refrained from scolding James and sat back down to chat with Harmony.
After dinner, Harmony left, and before departing, she gave James a meaningful look, reminding him not to forget his promise.
"Is there something you're hiding from me with Harmony?" Jennifer suddenly asked after Harmony left, startling James.
"Why do you ask?" James quickly composed himself.
Jennifer said, "I feel like you're afraid of Harmony. You didn't do something awful to her, did you?"
James sighed helplessly. "Please, it's not that I'm afraid of her; I just don't want to provoke her. Besides, you know Harmony doesn't like me."
"That's true." Jennifer nodded, realizing she might have been overthinking.
Jennifer and James stayed in Pearl Peak City for another day. In the evening, Jennifer called Alan to see if he was available for dinner to discuss business.
Alan's attitude during the call was indifferent. He neither refused nor agreed, saying he was busy and would be free later.
After hanging up, James noticed Jennifer's heavy expression and asked, "Did Alan not agree?"
"No." Jennifer shook her head, feeling a bit dejected. "I feel like he doesn't really want to cooperate with us. Could it be that the five million dollars upset him?"
James shook his head and said, "That shouldn't be the reason."
"Then what could it be?"
"Maybe he just isn't in the mood to talk business right now." James thought of Alan's mention of his daughter's strange illness. Alan was probably busy dealing with that. Unfortunately, James already knew the truth. Even with the finest Reishi mushroom, it wouldn't cure his daughter's strange illness. Only if Edwin personally intervened might there be some hope.
Meanwhile, in Alan's luxurious villa, two distinguished guests had arrived: Edwin and Derrick. At Alan's repeated invitation, Edwin had come personally to treat Alan's daughter.
"Mr. Wheeler, you're here! Please, have a seat!"
Alan warmly took the bag from Edwin's hand, adopting a humble posture as he invited Edwin to sit.
"It seems this must be your grandson, Derrick Wheeler. He is truly a remarkable young man!" Alan flattered.
Derrick smiled, feeling a bit proud, and greeted Alan with a bow, "Hello, Mr. Jordan."
Since the incident at the hotpot restaurant, where Edwin had sternly reprimanded him, Derrick had realized his shortcomings. He had strived to improve himself, elevating his skills to a new level. Though he hadn't reached his grandfather's level, he had grown significantly, and his demeanor had become much more composed.
He was absolutely confident that if he encountered James again, he wouldn't lose. He thought that the so-called miraculous acupuncture technique was just a trick.
Edwin chuckled. "Mr. Jordan, the traffic was a bit congested on my way here.. Sorry to keep you waiting."
Alan waved his hand and said, "Never mind, Mr. Wheeler. I'm just grateful you could come. Please, Mr. Wheeler, Derrick, have some tea."
As Derrick sipped his tea, he discreetly observed Alan's villa, marveling at its size and luxury. He had never seen such an opulent residence, almost like a manor. No wonder Alan was one of the top herbal suppliers in Emerald Isle City.
He felt quite excited. If he could cure Alan's daughter, it would be like earning a huge favor from Alan, making it much easier to earn more money in the future.
After some small talk, Edwin noticed Alan's distraction and took the initiative to say, "Mr. Jordan, we've finished our tea. Why don't you take me to see your daughter?"
"Yes, yes, of course." Alan had been waiting for this. He quickly stood up to lead the way.
In a closed room inside, Edwin saw Alan's daughter, a girl of about twelve or thirteen, clutching a koala bear plush toy. She looked very pale and thin. Seeing strangers, she became frightened, her eyes darting around as she burrowed into her bed.
When Alan saw his daughter like this, his heart ached, and his eyes reddened.
"Mr. Wheeler, I beg you." Alan bowed deeply to Edwin, speaking sincerely and firmly, "Mr. Wheeler, if you can cure my daughter, I will owe you a big favor."
Derrick's eyes lit up with excitement, but Edwin remained calm. Edwin simply smiled and said, "A doctor's heart is like that of a parent. As a physician, I will do everything within my power. There's no talk of favors."
Alan immediately felt a deep respect for Edwin, and he felt even more hopeful. He believed that with Edwin's help, his daughter would surely be cured.
