Chapter 128: Have You and James Ever Had Sex?

When Jennifer came out, she saw James waiting for her by the roadside. Her heart felt incredibly warm, and she couldn't help but smile charmingly.
Seeing her smile, James was slightly taken aback and said with some emotion, "Jennifer, you look so beautiful when you smile."
For some reason, Jennifer felt very sweet inside when she heard James say this. She avoided James's gaze and said, "Thank you."
Jennifer looked so beautiful at that moment that James couldn't help but take a step forward and said, "Jennifer, are you smiling because of me?"
Hearing this, Jennifer felt inexplicably flustered. She used her usual cold demeanor to cover up her current panic and said, "Don't flatter yourself. I'm smiling because I refused Dominic's plea, not because of you!"
But her acting couldn't fool James at all. Her reaction made James's heart race, and a thrilling thought popped into his mind. 'Could Jennifer start to like me?'
James smiled. "Oh, I see. Now I understand."
Seeing his expression, Jennifer felt a mix of shame and annoyance and couldn't help but pinch James. "Nonsense! You don't understand at all."
James widened his eyes as if he had seen something astonishing. "Jennifer, you just cursed."
"No, I didn't! You heard wrong!" Jennifer immediately put on a stern face.
"Really, I heard it!"
Before James could finish, Jennifer pinched him hard again. "Say it again!"
"No, I dare not." James grimaced, pretending to be in pain. His exaggerated expression made Jennifer burst into laughter, and her smile left James completely mesmerized.
Jennifer's heart raced under his gaze. She avoided James's eyes, feeling shy. "What are you looking at? You're not allowed to look."
James grinned and said, "I'm not looking at you; I'm looking at the beautiful woman behind you."
Jennifer frowned, feeling annoyed that he dared to look at other women. But when she turned around, she saw no beautiful woman. She realized she had been tricked by James. Just as she was about to turn back and pinch him, she found that James had already run off. His cowardly behavior made her laugh again.
Jennifer felt a warm sensation in her heart.
She couldn't remember the last time she had laughed like this. Ever since she married James, her life had been shrouded in a cloud, making her feel exhausted. It wasn't until this moment that she felt relaxed.
Looking at James's back, she thought that maybe marrying James wasn't such a grievance after all. Perhaps she should really let go of her previous prejudices against James and try to accept him.
However, what Jennifer didn't know was that, from a place she couldn't see, a pair of eyes had been watching her all along. The eyes were filled with resentment, jealousy, and hatred.
"Jennifer, how dare you betray me? I will make you regret it! And James, you worthless piece of trash, no matter how much you struggle, you will always be a piece of trash. Wait for my revenge! I will repay the humiliation you gave me!"
This person was Curtis. He was staring at James and Jennifer walking side by side with gritted teeth. His eyes were filled with deep anger and hatred.
Now, after what had happened last time, he was even more sinister and frightening than before.
James sensed something and looked back, frowning. Jennifer curiously asked him, "What's wrong?"
Curtis, who had been watching them, was startled by James's sudden movement. He quickly lowered his head, not daring to look again. He wondered if he had been discovered. 'It couldn't be. I was hiding so well, with reflective glass in between. There was no way James could see me. It must have been a coincidence, just a coincidence,' he thought.
Curtis looked up again and saw that James had already turned back around, which relieved him.
For some reason, ever since that night, he had developed a fear of James, especially of James's gaze.
"Nothing." James shook his head, thinking there was no need to worry Jennifer.
Back home, Dennis kept serving food to James at the dinner table. Unlike his previous manner, he was very attentive to James now, which made James feel flattered and even a bit suspicious of Dennis's intentions.
"James, this lobster was made especially for you. Eat it."
"James, I remember you love roast beef. I cooked a plate for you myself. Try it and see if you like it."
"And this wine, I've been saving it for a long time. Each bottle costs thousands of dollars. Even when Phillip and the others come over, I don't let them drink it. Here, try it now."
Dennis was so enthusiastic that James's plate was never empty.
"Dad, please stop adding food. I can't eat that much," James said with a pained expression.
"How can that be?" Dennis glared, pretending to be displeased. "You need to eat more to build up your strength! You look quite thin, clearly not getting enough nutrition. From now on, you must eat well so you have enough energy."
Jennifer couldn't stand it anymore and said, "Dad, what are you doing? You're putting all the food on James's plate. Why don't you put it on my plate? James couldn't eat so much! And James doesn't even have a job. What does he need energy for?"
Dennis replied, "How can he not need to do things? You've been married for five years and still haven't had a child. It must be because James lacks enough energy. He needs to eat more and do his job well so you can get pregnant sooner."
Jennifer finally understood. Dennis's job meant having sex! Her face turned red, and she scolded. "Who said I want to have sex with him? We never..."
"What? What did you say?" Dennis immediately frowned. "Jennifer, what do you mean? You and James haven't had sex?"
Dennis was nothing if not direct.
James felt a wave of embarrassment, and Jennifer felt even worse.
"That was absolutely wrong!" James smiled.
Jennifer panicked. Seeing James smirking, she immediately kicked him under the table and gave him a threatening look. 'You better explain!'
James coughed twice and said, "Dad, having a child is also about timing. Jennifer and I have been trying recently. According to scientific studies, having a child is related to the couple's mood. If there's too much pressure, it becomes harder to conceive."
"Is that so?" Dennis frowned, looking skeptical. Jennifer quickly chimed in, "James is right. Having a child is also about mood. Too much pressure makes it harder to conceive, so please stop pressuring us. We are trying our best!"
After saying this, she blushed a little. Although she had been married to James for five years, she was still a virgin. Talking about these topics made her feel shy. After all, having a child wasn't something she could do alone.
Jennifer used to be very resistant to this idea, but now, she wasn't as opposed to it. In fact, deep down, she even felt a bit of inexplicable anticipation.
