Chapter 614 James must be dead, right?
The scene fell silent for a moment.
James's confidence and swagger were way beyond his years. For a second, it felt like they were staring down a demon in human form.
But these were seasoned players, especially the Stewarts and the Wards—the two biggest families in the City of Mysteries. They weren't about to be intimidated by some kid.
"Good!" Tomas laughed, "I've never seen such an arrogant junior like you! You wanna pick a fight? Fine, we'll give you one! Boys, take him out!"
With a sharp wave of his hand, dozens of experts lunged at James, ready to throw down.
Among these experts, more than twenty were at the third stage of martial arts, and five were at the fourth stage. Everyone knew it would take a fifth-level legend—someone who'd undergone a complete transformation—to stand a chance against them!
James was a prodigy, no doubt, but he was only twenty-seven. Even if he'd been training since the day he was born, hitting the fifth level was out of the question!
Right now, James was feeling the heat. The sheer force of so many high-level fighters was bearing down on him, making his bones groan under the pressure.
As for Wylie and Usher, they were even worse off, their faces pale, completely devoid of any will to resist.
At this moment, they realized the vast gap between themselves and James.
James laughed heartily, his spirits high, his clothes and hair fluttering, "Five fourth-stage fighters, twenty-seven third-stage fighters—all coming at me at once? Perfect! I'll use you clowns to push my limits!"
With that, he didn't retreat but advanced, charging towards the crowd.
At this moment, everyone realized just how terrifying James's strength was.
Tomas's face changed dramatically. "Fourth-stage peak?!" he blurted out, disbelief written all over him. "He's that strong?"
The other family heads were just as stunned. They'd known James was no slouch, but they didn't expect him to be this powerful!
For most people, even becoming a martial artist was a long shot. And climbing through the ranks was a brutal grind, especially jumping from the third to the fourth level.
But James was already at the fourth-level peak. At his age? It was unheard of.
Even with all their experience and knowledge, they were at a loss for words. This was something they couldn't wrap their heads around.
At this moment, they realized they had underestimated James.
Despite his young age, not even 30, his strength surpassed all of them. He could no longer be viewed as part of the younger generation.
Thankfully, their so-called "golden dragon banquet" was just a trap for the Smith family from the start. Since Alistair didn't show, they'd make James pay instead. Taking out Alistair's right-hand man would cripple the Smiths, making it way easier to take them down later.
But would things really go as smoothly as they imagined?
James's recent power surge felt like hitting the lottery. He was now at the peak of the fourth level, just a hair's breadth away from the fifth.
He knew that once he made that leap, he'd be on a whole new level!
Something about this golden dragon banquet felt off, but he showed up anyway. Partly to flex his strength, and partly to push himself to the limit.
Finding a real challenge these days was tough. The best way to level up was to throw himself into a life-or-death brawl with a bunch of top-tier fighters!
And just as he predicted, they were gunning for him from the get-go.
That was just perfect.
James dove headfirst into the chaos, taking on dozens of martial artists at once. Surrounded, he was like a lone kayak in a hurricane—battered but unbroken.
The air was thick with the crack of fists and the crunch of shattered furniture. In under a minute, the once-luxurious venue was a total wreck.
Luckily, the place was out in the sticks, and the locals had been cleared out beforehand. No one outside had a clue what was going down.
James felt exhilarated, truly exhilarated. It was the first time he had unleashed himself like this, even more extreme and thrilling than when he first joined the National Security Agency and fought against thousands.
With a loud crash, the large house collapsed under their fight, crushing many people.
Wylie and Usher, witnessing the commotion, turned pale and completely abandoned any thoughts of opposing James.
Even if they trained for two hundred years, they couldn't reach James's level!
Similarly, the family heads were also terrified. They had never seen any descendant in any family with such monstrous strength.
The fight continued, with explosive sounds constantly erupting, indicating the intensity of the battle.
James was besieged by over thirty experts. Holding his own against so many was no easy feat. If it weren't for his insane skills, he'd have been flattened by now.
But even for someone as strong as James, taking down this many experts came at a cost. By this point, more than a dozen had already hit the deck, including two fourth-stage heavyweights who'd been crushed by James's fists.
The fight dragged on for half an hour, leaving the surrounding area looking like a war zone. Houses, trees, even the rock gardens—all of it was smashed to bits, as if some monster had stomped through. It was a scene straight out of a nightmare.
Finally, the intense commotion in the woods subsided, and everything returned to calm.
In the dark night, everyone looked over, unable to tell who had won and who had lost.
"What's going on? Why is it so quiet?"
"James must be dead, right?"
"Of course, he's dead! Over thirty top experts? That'd take out an army. You think James is tougher than an army?"
"True. But damn, for a guy his age, he was a beast."
"Looks like we made the right call tonight. If we'd let him walk, he'd have been unstoppable later."
As the whispers buzzed, a rustling sound came from the woods. A man, battered and bloodied, staggered out.
