Chapter 312 Jared Perry And I Go Way Back

"Yo, James, you callin' for me?" Kieran hustled over, grinning like a kid who just got a new bike.

Yeah, he was definitely one of James's lackeys now.

James gave a nod, "You were talkin' about joinin' the Perry family. Which Perry family we talkin' about here?"

Kieran shot back, "The one Asher runs. Why, you got ties with the Perrys?"

Bingo. James's face lit up, and he clenched his fist under the table before relaxing. "Ties with the Perry family? Hell yeah, I do. Jared Perry and I go way back."

Kieran missed the dark glint in James's eyes, only seeing the friendly facade. He genuinely thought James was tight with the Perrys, making him even more of a fanboy. He gave James a thumbs up, "Man, James, you're somethin' else. Knowin' someone from the Perry family? Mad respect!"

He meant it. Kieran might be a big shot in the gang, but compared to the Perry family, he was just a small fry.

The Perry family ruled Lindwood City, even more than the Browns with Michael. They were the top dogs.

Kieran always wanted in with the Perrys, but they never gave him the time of day.

In his mind, James was a good fighter, but no match for the Perry family. He figured James would get squashed soon enough.

James didn't bother correcting him. Yeah, he knew the Perry family, but it wasn't all sunshine and rainbows; it was pure hatred.

His main gig right now? Gettin' back at the Perrys.

"So, you wanna join the Perry family, huh? What's the deal with that?" James asked, still munching on his food. He noticed Leopold and Eirian had stopped eating and asked, "Why ain't you guys eatin'?"

Leopold and Eirian were too freaked out to eat. They quickly shook their heads, "Nah, we're good. Don't mind us."

James's current vibe was way beyond what they knew of him. Even these tough guys were acting all humble around James, making them even more scared to step outta line.

James picked up on their fear but didn't bother explaining. He just nodded and kept chatting with Kieran. He had a feeling Kieran might be the key to his revenge on the Perry family.

Kieran scratched his head, lookin' a bit sheepish, "James, the Perry family is too big. Even if I wanted in, they might not even notice me. I was thinkin' of bringin' a gift to Uriah Perry's engagement party in Lindwood City, see if I could get on their radar."

"Uriah's engagement?" James's eyes sparkled, and his grin got even wider. His gut was right; Kieran was the break he needed.

He'd been stressing about going head-to-head with the Perry family, thinking it might be too straightforward.

But now? He had the perfect shot. Imagine wrecking the Perry family’s rep right at their own shindig—that was the kind of payback James was after!

James always felt like he had two sides. One side was all about being kind and caring to his friends and fam, showing real love. The other side? Cold-blooded and ruthless to his enemies.

Sometimes, he wondered if he had a split personality.

Right now, his dark side was running the show.

He wanted to make the Perry family pay for what they did to him, tenfold, a hundredfold, no mercy!

"Yeah, Uriah's engagement," Kieran nodded like a bobblehead. "And the partner’s from another big-shot family, just as powerful as the Perrys. If I could get in with them, that’d be awesome."

James chuckled, giving Kieran a pat on the shoulder, "You wanna meet someone from the Perry family? Easy peasy."

Kieran was floored, then got all hyped up. "James, you gonna hook me up?"

"Yep," James grinned. "I know the Perry family real well. I'll roll with you to Uriah's engagement party and put in a good word. No sweat."

Kieran had no clue what he was walking into. He was so pumped his face turned red. "Thanks, man! From now on, you’re my boss!"

James’s grin widened. He found himself kinda liking Kieran. In this day and age, it was rare to find many folks as naive as him.

After locking down the date for Uriah's engagement party and swapping contact info with Kieran, James couldn’t wait to send them off.

"What’s up? Why you lookin' at me like that?" James turned to see Leopold and Eirian staring at him like he was a stranger. He gave a helpless smile.

"James, what were you into before? Why are these guys so scared of you?" Leopold asked, all cautious.

Eirian had the same look.

James scratched his nose, "It's a long story. But chill, I’m a good guy. I won’t do anything shady."

His sincere look calmed Leopold and Eirian down. But then, outta nowhere, Dorian dropped to his knees and clung to James’s leg, freaking him out. "What the hell are you doing?"

"James! Please protect me!" Dorian begged, looking up at him.

James kicked him off, feeling all sorts of awkward. "Get off me. I’m not into that."

Dorian was stunned, then quickly got what James meant. He crawled back and grabbed James’s leg again. "No, no, you got it wrong. I wanna be your apprentice. Let me be your right-hand man. I’ll do anything!"

His eyes were lit up, staring at James like he was the best thing since sliced bread.

He couldn’t hide his excitement. This was his big chance. He’d seen James’s badassery earlier. Even the tough-as-nails Kieran was like a puppy around James.

If he could be James’s sidekick, he’d have mad power in the game.

Just thinking about it got him all fired up!
