Chapter 475 The Arrogant Lester
Leaving Jeffery's house, James and Jeffery headed straight to the place where Donna and Gregory were buried.
On the way, both of them were heavy-hearted and silent.
An hour later, they finally arrived at a rather simple cemetery. It didn't take long to find Donna and Gregory's graves, which looked quite new and had recently been cleared of weeds, unlike the other overgrown graves.
"Donna, Gregory, James is back to see you," Jeffery said, his eyes bloodshot and coughing. He was deeply saddened, but he still wore a smile on his face.
James looked at the photos of Donna and Gregory on the tombstone, feeling immense pain inside.
"Donna, Gregory, I'm back, I've come to see you," James said somberly, placing blunchs of flowers over the gravestones. "Rest peacefully in heaven; I will ensure Lester and his men will join you in the afterlife."
James and Jeffery stayed in the cemetery for a long time, talking to Donna and Gregory about everything that had happened over the past five years. Jeffery was shocked to hear that James had spent those five years as a son-in-law in Serenity Province, something that seemed completely out of character for James.
As night fell, James finally said, "Alright, it's time to go. Next, we need to find Lester and the others to avenge Donna and Gregory."
Meanwhile, in an upscale private club in the City of Mysteries.
A few young men were enjoying massages from young women, feeling very relaxed. One of them said, "Mr. Percy, I heard James might be back. Do you think he knows we were the ones who killed Donna and Gregory?"
"Are you scared? The news of James coming back is just a rumor. We hear this kind of thing every year," said the young man called Mr. Percy, turning over and caressing the skin of the young woman beside him. "Besides, even if James is back, so what? Do you really think the City of Mysteries is the same as it was five years ago? It's no longer his domain. Not to mention the Ward family and the Stewart family, even Wylie and Usher from his own family would teach him a lesson. Moreover, Donna and Gregory are dead, and I've killed everyone who knew about it. How could James find out it was us?"
"Moreover, Donna and Gregory are dead, and I've killed everyone who knew about it. How could James find out it was us?"
Another person said, "But Jeffery is still alive. He knows about it. If he goes to find James, we could still be at risk."
"Jeffery?" Lester said dismissively. "He's been a wreck for a long time, working on construction sites every day. He's even got tuberculosis now and is close to dying."
"We're still at risk, Mr. Percy. Perhaps we should find an opportune moment to eliminate Jeffery," the person said, their gaze icy and filled with murderous intent.
Lester snapped his fingers and said, "I told you not to be afraid. Are you really that scared of one James? I actually hope he comes back to seek revenge. I'll make sure he'll leave in a body bag.!"
With Lester's confidence, everyone else began to relax.
"Tomorrow is our industry's annual Silver Eagle Conference. If James really is back, he'll definitely show up. We'll know then," Lester said, completely unafraid of James, with a mocking smile on his face as he slid his hand under the young woman's clothes.
Feeling pleased, he stopped the massage and took the young woman to the next room to have sex. Soon, the sound of heavy breathing filled the air.
The City of Mysteries had many industries, each with an annual gathering. The Silver Eagle Conference, mentioned by Lester, was a gathering of the younger generation in the City of Mysteries, with a history of twenty years.
On the surface, the main activity of this gathering was charity, but in reality, it was a chance for the young people from various families to connect and resolve grudges. Any irreconcilable conflicts were usually mediated at the Silver Eagle Conference.
Actually, people like Maurice and Neil wouldn't attend this gathering. It's mainly for the second and third-tier young people in the City of Mysteries.
The gathering was usually very lively.
The charity event was just a formality and quickly passes. The main focus of the Silver Eagle Conference was to select a Silver Eagle Leader, who would be the leader for the next year. This position didn't come with real power but was more of a status symbol.
The following year's Silver Eagle Conference was convened by the previous year's Silver Eagle Leader, and each participant had to pay a fee of one million dollars. With at least two hundred participants each year, this amounted to a significant sum of money.
Lester didn't believe James would dare to hit him at the Silver Eagle Conference. After all, this year's Silver Eagle Leader is Eli Ward, one of the most outstanding young men from the Ward family and Maurice's younger brother.
If James dared to hit him at the Silver Eagle Conference, it would be a direct affront to Eli's dignity. Eli wouldn't allow it.
Moreover, Lester didn't really believe James was back. To him, it was just a rumor, albeit a particularly convincing one this time.
The next day, the Silver Eagle Conference was held as usual at a resort in the suburbs of the City of Mysteries, a property of the Ward family, covering a vast area.
Throughout the day, luxury cars continuously arrived at the resort, with many people having come a day or two earlier.
Notably, this year's Silver Eagle Conference had more participants than usual. Typically, there were around two hundred people, but this year, nearly a hundred more showed up, totaling over two hundred eighty participants. Each had to pay a one-million-dollar entry fee, meaning Eli Ward would make nearly three hundred million dollars just from the entry fees.
This was already a substantial income, more than what many families could earn in three generations.
So, the position of Silver Eagle Leader was quite desirable.
Lester was one of the contenders for this year's Silver Eagle Leader and had been preparing for a long time.
"Mr. Percy, you're here."
"Wow, you look even more impressive than before, Mr. Percy."
"Mr. Percy."
As Lester entered, many people greeted him, and he responded with a smile, exuding the demeanor of a leader.
A confident smile perpetually adorned his face, and he stood with his back ramrod straight.
Meanwhile, outside the resort, James and Jeffery had also arrived.
