Chapter 511 Tobias Collapsed
Tobias's scream immediately drew the attention of many attendees around, who looked over.
The wealthy heirs were stunned; they never expected James to dare retaliate. In their eyes, he was courting death.
Originally, James didn't want to argue with Tobias. After all, Tobias was the son of Dennis's old classmate.
But Tobias was too much. James lost his patience and kicked Tobias away, sending him headfirst into a flower pot, looking extremely pathetic.
"Get lost," James said coldly.
James didn't use too much force; otherwise, Tobias's hands would have been broken on the spot.
Even so, Tobias was in excruciating pain, gasping for breath. Most importantly, he had never been so humiliated or looked so pathetic in his life.
And this was at an auction with so many important big figures. He was about to lose his mind.
Tobias got up from the ground, with dirt from the flower pot still in his mouth and all over his face. He spat it out, his eyes red, glaring at James. "James, you're dead! How dare you hit me? Drop dead, loser!"
Tobias stood up and shouted at the approaching security guards, "What are you standing there for? Get him out of here! He's just a small fry who scraped together $300,000 to get in here. He has no right to be here!"
The security guards clearly recognized Tobias. Hearing his words and looking at James's attire, they believed Tobias and started to kick James out.
At this moment, a steady voice rang out, "Who dares to kick him out? He's my brother, Michael's brother!"
Indeed, the person who suddenly appeared was Michael, his face full of anger, staring at the security guards.
"Mr. Smith, long time no see," Michael walked over, patted James on the shoulder, and said emotionally.
James also felt emotional and nodded, "Yeah, long time no see."
Tobias evidently knew Michael. When he saw Michael appear and even warmly call James his brother, he was instantly dumbfounded. He couldn't believe that this worthless individual, James, actually knew Michael.
Michael was the richest man in Lindwood City! With assets worth billions of dollars, especially in recent months, his business had skyrocketed, elevating him to a new level. Even Tobias had to be respectful in front of Michael.
Just a few days ago, Valentin had made a big deal with Michael, investing most of his family's assets.
"Mr. Smith, it's been so long, and you haven't given me a call. I've tried to reach you several times, but your phone was always off. Are you trying to avoid me?" Michael said somewhat unhappily.
Michael had indeed tried to contact James several times, but James never responded, which made him quite sad. He genuinely admired James. He had seen James's abilities and knew that with a bit of ambition, James would achieve great things in the future. Besides James's abilities, he admired James's character and his maturity, which was rare for someone his age.
Moreover, there was another important point that Michael's sister deeply loved James.
James felt a bit embarrassed and said, "Well, I didn't want to trouble Mr. Brown. You're a big shot now."
Michael laughed and punched James in the chest, saying, "James, this is your trick to mock me?"
Tobias, standing aside, was not only confused but also felt a chill, with a bad premonition. Tobias saw James and Michael had a close relationship. If James badmouthed about him in front of Michael, it would affect the big deal?
For a moment, Michael panicked.
Then, Michael turned his gaze to Tobias and said to James, "Mr. Smith, did this man offend you?"
James nodded, "Yeah, he said I was poor and wanted to kick me out."
With James's words, Tobias's body trembled, and he hurriedly explained, "Mr. Brown, it's a misunderstanding. I was just joking with him."
"Really?" Michael squinted his eyes, his tone unfriendly.
The other onlookers around were also surprised. Many of them knew Michael and knew he was a big tycoon. Michael didn't come from a prominent family, but he was a business genius. In just over a decade, he had built the Brown Group into a large company, now publicly traded and worth billions of dollars!
Such a big tycoon, anyone didn't dare to provoke him casually.
To put it bluntly, even the Lewis family might not be as wealthy as Michael.
The Lewis family's high status was more due to the power behind them.
"Yes, yes," Tobias nodded hurriedly, no longer arrogant.
The more arrogant Tobias was in front of ordinary people, the more humble Tobias was in front of big shots.
At this time, James said, "Mr. Brown, I heard that his father, Valentin, seems to have business dealings with you. I heard him say that he doesn't particularly care about cooperating with you, that it's better than nothing."
Michael exactly caught on to what James meant and followed his lead, "Is that so? If that's the case, there's no need to cooperate. Aubrey Hagen, cancel the cooperation with Valentin."
Aubrey, Michael's assistant, nodded respectfully, "Alright, Mr. Brown, I'll handle it right away."
With this, Tobias froze, his face turning pale!
By the time he reacted, Michael and James were already walking away with their arms around each other's shoulders.
His legs were trembling. He knew better than anyone how important this cooperation with Michael was to their family! If the deal fell through, their business would suffer huge losses, and it might even collapse!
Tobias thought he had to plead with Michael.
But before he could take a step, his phone rang. He took it out and saw it was Valentin calling.
Tobias was dumbfound at the moment.
With trembling hands, Tobias pressed the call button, and immediately Valentin's hysterical voice came through, "Tobias! What are you doing? Who told you to offend Mr. Brown? Now Mr. Brown says he wants to cancel our cooperation. You idiot! What did you do? Do you know how much we'll lose if Mr. Brown doesn't cooperate with us?"
Tobias accidentally pressed the speaker button in horror, and Valentin's voice echoed throughout the venue, making him a laughingstock once again.
The extreme humiliation broke him, and he started to cry.
