Chapter 53: Let's Get Divorced

‘Was I really cured by James?’ Harmony thought.

James casually unsealed her acupoints, draped a coat over her to cover her modesty, and said, "Rest well, I'll be going now."

Harmony opened her mouth but didn't speak. After James left, she hurried to the bathroom, looked in the mirror, and saw that she had indeed returned to normal. She pinched her skin and found it even smoother than before she fell ill. She bit her lip lightly, feeling a bit complicated...

"Dr. Smith, Dr. Smith, how is she? Is my sister cured?"

"Yes, Dr. Smith, if you need anything, just tell us, and we will meet your demand! In any case, you must cure our youngest sister!"

As soon as James came out, he was surrounded.

"Everyone, rest assured, I have cured Ms. Brown," James said with a smile.

Everyone was overjoyed, and Todd was so excited that he cried, "Wonderful! Wonderful! Dr. Smith is truly a divine doctor! Please accept my bow!"

Todd was about to kneel and bow to James, but James quickly stopped him, "That is unnecessary! Todd, please get up quickly!"

Michael and Elbert were also extremely excited and bowed to James in unison.

The others followed suit, and James had no choice but to accept their gratitude with a wry smile.

"Todd, I think there is someone behind Ms. Brown's disease," James said, opening his palm to reveal a black snake, saying, "This was taken from Ms. Brown's body and is the root cause of her strange illness. This snake is extremely rare and malevolent, usually not found in populated areas, let alone entering a person's body. Someone deliberately manipulated the snake to infect Ms. Brown with this strange illness."

Todd immediately understood, "Mr. Smith! Are you saying that someone is deliberately harming the Brown family?!"

James nodded slightly, "It’s similar to the method used to poison you."

Michael immediately became furious, "If I find out who did this, I will make sure they pay!"

Seeing Michael's angry expression, James wanted to tell him that the other party was very powerful and that the Brown family might not be their match.

Next, the Brown family expressed their gratitude to James once again and presented him with a check for a billion dollars, insisting that he accept it. James couldn't refuse and had to accept it.

Looking at the string of zeros on the check, James suddenly had a thought: What would Jennifer's expression be if she knew he was a billionaire? Would she still think he's worthless?

After some thought, James dismissed the idea. It was too childish and not his style.

After leaving the Brown family, James went home. Dennis and Kaitlyn hadn't returned yet, so only Jennifer was at home. When she saw James Smith, her face darkened with anger, and she snorted.

James had just treated Harmony, which had taken a lot of energy. Although he had dinner with Michael earlier, he was hungry again, his stomach rumbled.

He had wanted to talk to Jennifer, but she didn't give him the chance. When she saw him approaching, she got up and went back to her room, so he held back his words.

James went to the kitchen and found that there was nothing to eat. Just then, he heard Jennifer's voice, "There are leftovers in the fridge, heat them up yourself."

Jennifer said and closed the door.

In fact, she had already calmed down a lot during her time at home. She had thought a lot, and today's events were not entirely James Smith’s fault. It was her own fault for not being clear from the beginning. Moreover, James Smith had endured everyone’s ridicule without losing his temper at her.

‘Do I really need to apologize to him?’ Jennifer bit her lip, feeling hesitant.

But seeing James being mocked by everyone today, she felt sorry for him. Although she didn't love James, it didn’t mean she held any feelings for him. Deep down, she still considered James as her husband. She wouldn’t have such a negative attitude if he were not a loser.

After some thought, she gritted her teeth and said, "I'll apologize if I have to. What's so embarrassing about it?"

With this decision made, she walked out of the room again towards James in the kitchen.
However, as she approached James, she smelled a woman's perfume on him!

Moreover, she saw a long hair on his shoulder.

Instantly, her expression changed.

Did this guy cheat on her outside?

A surge of anger rose within her.

This useless man had been living off her for five years, and now he was fooling around outside?!

James was oblivious. He heard Jennifer's movements, turned to look at her, and saw her staring at him, her face freezing cold. He frowned, "What's wrong?"

Jennifer saw his attitude and became even more furious. She picked up the hair on James's shoulder, "Whose hair is this?"

James was stunned, then realized that it was Harmony's hair, left behind while he was treating her.

"Uh, it's, it's from..." James suddenly realized something was wrong and quickly changed his story. "Michael invited me to dinner at a fancy hotel. This hair must have been left by the waiter serving the dishes."

Jennifer immediately laughed, "Left by the waiter? James, you're really good at making up stories! So, did the waiter stick to you while serving dishes? Also, please deal with your perfume scent next time you go out sneaking around!"

James sniffed himself and realized he still had Harmony's scent on him.

"What, no response?" Jennifer sneered, her gaze icy.

"You misunderstood me. I didn't cheat, nor did I do anything to betray you," James said firmly.

Jennifer said, "Is that so? Then explain whose hair this is and the origin of your scent."

James's lips moved, but he found he couldn't explain. It wasn't that he was intentionally guilty, but he had promised Michael that this matter would stay with him and not be spoken of, as it involved Harmony's reputation.

Seeing him silent, Jennifer laughed louder, "Can't explain? James, ever since you met Michael, you've forgotten who you are and started fooling around. But don't forget, who has been supporting you for the past five years? How many sneers and how much anger have I endured because of you? Have you forgotten all of that?"

"James, you really disappoint me. No, you disgust me!"

By the end, Jennifer's eyes were a bit red, and her emotions stirred.

"I didn't cheat!" James looked at Jennifer with clear eyes, saying seriously.

But Jennifer had lost her rationality and didn't believe a word he said. Today's events had already put her in a bad mood, and she had convinced herself to apologize to James, but the result was that James had been out carousing with Michael all this time!

The more she thought about it, the angrier and more aggrieved she felt.

Finally, her eyes turned red as she stared at James and said word by word, "James, let's get divorced."
