Chapter 109: Making a Deed with Hell

"Thanks to Orlando, we faced a much stronger threat than yesterday." James sighed.
Fortunately, he had made preparations before leaving yesterday; otherwise, he would really be in a tough spot today.
Hearing James's words, Michael's last bit of hope vanished, and he became despondent, muttering to himself, ‘Am I really going to fail? I should have listened to James.'
Orlando let out a disdainful laugh from the side. He didn't believe that James, a young man, could handle the malevolent spirit that even he couldn't deal with.
The reason he hadn't left was to see James's failure and to show Michael that if he couldn't solve the problem, no one could.
Harmony bit her lip and said, "James, is there really nothing you can do? This project is very important to our family."
James didn't respond immediately. He quickly calculated something with his left hand, muttering under his breath with a serious expression. Then he smiled and said, "There is a way."
"Really? What is it? Tell me quickly," Michael said eagerly.
"If I'm not mistaken, the reason this place is filled with so much malevolent energy is that there are buried bones underground, and they are dismembered bones. The deceased must have suffered great torment in life, leaving a lingering resentment that has created this dense malevolent energy, affecting the magnetic field of this place," James said solemnly.
"Nonsense!" A voice interrupted, scolding James.
It was Orlando. He hadn't left and was watching coldly from the side. Hearing James' words, he immediately stepped forward.
"I thought you were really something, but it turns out you're just a fraud." Orlando's face was full of contempt and anger.
Hearing Orlando's words, Michael frowned. Somehow, he still chose to believe Orlando, even though Orlando had messed things up. But Orlando's reputation was well-known; he was the most famous Taoist master in Lindwood City, whereas James was just a layman.
Harmony couldn't help but retort to Orlando. "Weren't you leaving? Why are you still here? I don't know if James is a fraud, but you definitely are."
"You!" Orlando was left speechless by Harmony's words. He couldn't argue back because he hadn't been able to solve the problem.
But he had no sense of shame. He didn't care and continued, "Let me be clear: the malevolent energy here is not due to resentment. Saying there are buried bones underground is even more impossible."
Seeing that James was ignoring him, Orlando became furious and said to Michael, "Mr. Brown, I would warn you one last time. The malevolent energy here is very special. The best way is to leave it alone. In ten years, the wind and rain will naturally disperse it. Otherwise, forcing a project here will only result in more deaths, and it could even harm the next generation of you."
Hearing his words, Michael became even more desperate. His face turned ashen, losing all its color as if he had aged twenty years suddenly.
James frowned, his impression of Orlando hitting rock bottom. He said irritably, "Can you just shut up? With your poor abilities, you dare call yourself a Taoist master? Who gave you the courage? Yesterday, I kindly reminded you not to use animal blood, but you didn't listen, and it caused a big problem."
Orlando's face changed dramatically at James' words, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. He reacted strongly. "What do you know? Who do you think you are to question me? I'll set a ritual to curse you."
James shook his head, speechless at Orlando's antics. He ignored him and turned to Michael, saying, "Michael, if you trust me, follow my instructions. This land can still be saved. Otherwise, you'll really have to wait ten years before you can start construction again."
Seeing James' serious expression, Michael gritted his teeth and made a decision. He nodded vigorously. "Alright, I'll trust you this time."
"Good," James quickly said. "Have someone prepare some tools."
With that, he listed a bunch of items.
Not only Michael but many others were puzzled. ‘What does James need these things for? Isn't he supposed to suppress the malevolent spirit? Why does it seem like he is preparing for an ancestral worship ceremony?’
Orlando laughed out loud. "Are you preparing these things to worship someone?"
James glanced at Orlando and said, "I advise you to leave quickly. You offended the malevolent spirit here by sprinkling animal blood yesterday. You haven't realized you made a big mistake, and you will be resentful. If you devote yourself to good deeds, give away all your wealth, and stop deceiving people, you might be saved. Otherwise, it won't be long before you die on the streets."
"You bastard, how dare you curse me?" Orlando was instantly furious. But he was also startled. He felt increasingly cold, especially around his neck, which was chillingly frightening.
He knew he shouldn't stay there longer, but he was unwilling to leave without seeing James fail.
He thought that nothing would happen if he were just lingering for a while.
With that in mind, Orlando boldly said, "I want to see how you fail."
James ignored him. After Michael's subordinates prepared the items he needed, he calculated the best time and then placed candles on jars filled with wheat. He asked Michael, "After you bought this land, did you put your name on the property?"
"Yes." Michael nodded honestly, feeling confused about James's words.
"Then that's it. You only get the deed for the human world, not the deed for the underworld. Starting large-scale construction disturbed the original 'owner' here," James said with a smile. "Give me your birthdate, and I'll help you get it from the underworld."
Of course, the situation was far from simple. The biggest problem was that someone had deliberately set a trap for Michael.
Michael secretly told James his birthdate. James wrote it down on red paper and began chanting softly. Then, without using a lighter, he just rubbed the red paper between his index finger and thumb, and like starting a fire by rubbing sticks together, the red paper actually started burning out of thin air.
The originally calm air began to stir with a breeze after James ignited the red paper.
"Is that all?" Seeing James burn the red paper and other items, Michael couldn't help but ask nervously.
"Almost. Just one last thing to do," James said with a smile, a glint of light flashing in his eyes.
