Chapter 361 Hotel Turmoil
This time, the Leopold family was all hyped up, so much that Dennis and Kaitlyn were kinda freaked out.
Chit-chatting, they found out Dorian had changed a lot. No more rebel stuff; he was all about that career grind, pulling in fifty to sixty grand a month. Dude was killing it, all thanks to James.
Hearing all this, Kaitlyn and Dennis were a mess of emotions, even starting to regret their past moves. They never thought James, who got messed up so bad, could bounce back. It totally blew their minds.
Dorian went on about how badass James was, even the big shots in Lindwood City respected him and worked for him. That just made them feel even worse.
If they had known, they wouldn't have pushed James to sign that stuff back then. Not only did they lose James, but Jennifer got dragged through the mud, too. Dennis and Kaitlyn were kicking themselves.
But the Leopold family had no clue where James was, either, not even a phone number. James was off the grid, making things tricky.
They sneaked a peek at Jennifer, who wasn't even asking about James anymore, just sitting there, zoned out.
After a bit, Dorian piped up, "Dennis, Kaitlyn, I got us a private room at the Golden Moon Hotel. It's almost dinner time, so let's go and have dinner there?"
"Oh, we couldn't possibly. We can just eat at home," Kaitlyn tried to brush it off.
Eirian grabbed her hand and grinned, "No need to be shy. We were neighbors. Plus, James helped us out big time. It's just a meal. Let's go now, or we'll get stuck in traffic."
Hearing this, their feelings got even more tangled.
Jennifer, who had been quiet, suddenly said, "Eirian's right. You guys came all this way and brought so many gifts. We should treat you to a meal."
The Leopold family quickly said they should be the ones treating. But Jennifer was firm and told Dennis, "Dad, don't you have a friend who's a manager at the Golden Moon Hotel? Call him and get us a private room. Let's go."
Dennis was stoked to see Jennifer wanting to go out and quickly agreed, "Alright, we should treat the Leopold family to a meal. I'll make the call."
Two minutes later, Dennis hung up and smiled, "Alright, the place is packed, and all the private rooms are booked. But my old friend is the manager there. I called him, and he hooked us up with a private room. Let's roll."
He swelled with pride. The Golden Moon Hotel was a swanky five-star joint, super fancy. A meal in a private room there would cost a few grand, which was accaptable. Some drinks would definitely make the bill to tens of thousands.
The Golden Moon Hotel had a killer chef, so it was always jam-packed during holidays. Private rooms were like gold dust. Thanks to Dennis's old friend, the manager, they scored one.
Leopold shot Dennis a thumbs up, grinning, "Man, you're a legend for snagging a private room at the Golden Moon Hotel."
Dorian chimed in, "Seriously, we tried booking a room there a couple hours ago, but it was packed. Dennis, you're the man."
Dennis soaked up the praise, his smile stretching even wider.
They piled into two cars and headed to the Golden Moon Hotel. Jennifer was behind the wheel, her face set in a cold smile, making it impossible to read her thoughts.
When they got to the hotel, it was a madhouse. The outdoor lot was jammed, so they had to hunt for a spot in the underground parking, which was also packed.
Inside, the place was buzzing. The lobby was crammed with people, making it feel like a festival.
"Excuse me, are you a party of six?" a young waiter asked Dennis.
"Yeah," Dennis replied.
"Sorry, we're all booked up. You might have to wait a bit," the waiter said apologetically.
Dennis grinned, "No need to wait; we've got a private room reserved."
The waiter looked shocked, "But all our private rooms are full."
"Can't be. I booked directly with your manager," Dennis said, spotting someone familiar and walking past the waiter. "Kael, long time no see. You bulk up?"
Kael, Dennis's old classmate and the manager, turned around, "Dennis, you're here. It's been ages."
After a quick catch-up, Kael, who was clearly swamped, led them to the private room, saying, "It's crazy busy today. All the private rooms were booked ages ago. It was tough to get one for you. Anyone else would've been out of luck."
Dennis nodded, "Got it. Thanks a ton. I'll treat you to a meal another day."
Inside the private room, it was pure luxury—spacious, quiet, a world away from the noisy lobby. Dennis felt a surge of pride.
Leopold and Dorian took the chance to heap more praise on Dennis, making him feel on top of the world.
Dennis loved his reputation. Seeing Leopold doing well and Dorian, who used to be a nobody, while he had pushed James away, made him uneasy. But now, with this moment, he felt a bit better.
"Leopold, let me tell you, even though you guys are raking it in now, when it comes to connections, you might not be as hooked up as me," Dennis started bragging. Leopold and the others listened, throwing in compliments here and there, mostly out of respect for James.
But just as Dennis was getting into his groove, the door to the private room flew open, slamming against the wall and making everyone jump.
Eight adults, six guys and two gals, swaggered in with a thug vibe. It was clear they were trouble.
Kael, who had just left, rushed back in and whispered to Dennis, "Dennis, these thugs want this private room. Would you mind eating in the lobby instead? It'll only be about ten minutes. I'll give you a 30% discount this time. How about it?"
