Chapter 381 Walter Knelt Down to James

Some women, confident in their looks, straight-up ignored Emberlyn and made a beeline for James, asking for his digits or slipping him theirs. This really ticked Emberlyn off.

But honestly, James wasn't into any of these girls. He just wanted to bounce. Being the center of attention wasn't his thing; he'd rather be the low-key hot guy chilling in the corner.

"Alright, Emberlyn, I'm outta here. Got dragged here at the crack of dawn, and I'm beat. Need to catch some sleep," James said, yawning.

"Don't go!" Emberlyn whined, clinging to his arm with a pout. "You just got here. Stick around a bit and show me some workout moves. I think my chest is shrinking; I need to get it back in shape."

James couldn't help but glance at her very noticeable chest and thought, 'Shrink? With those? Any bigger and you'd look like a cow.'

Even though he tried to be sneaky, Emberlyn caught him. She gave him a sly grin and pushed her chest out even more.

James, keeping a straight face, said, "I'm tired. Later."

Emberlyn thought for a sec. She could tell James really wanted to bail. With all these bold women around, she didn't want to risk losing him. She quickly said, "What a coincidence! I'm tired, too. How about we crash at a nearby hotel and rest up?"

She clung tighter to his arm, worried he might bolt.

James flicked her on the forehead and was about to say something when he saw Walter coming over. Walter's eyes were bloodshot, and he looked super intense as he stared at James.

"What’s your deal, Walter? You looking to throw down with James? Let me tell you, with your skills, James could pin you with one finger," Emberlyn said, all smug and sassy.

Walter, seeing Emberlyn all over James, felt a pang of jealousy but didn't blow up like before. Instead, he said to James in a serious tone, "James, are you a martial artist?"

James knew he couldn't fool Walter with his earlier act, so he nodded and said humbly, "Kinda."

Walter got even more hyped, his body shaking a bit and his breathing getting faster. "James, how did you break through to become a martial artist? Can you tell me?"

His eyes sparkled with excitement as he stared at James.

James first gave a friendly smile, then his face went blank, and he said flatly, "Nope."

Walter was stunned. He thought James was about to teach him the real deal, but then James shut him down. He was left speechless.

Seeing his dumbfounded look, Emberlyn rolled her eyes in contempt and thought, 'This idiot actually thinks he has a shot with me.'

As James tried to make his exit, Walter hustled up and blocked his way again. "James, I really wanna be a martial artist. Can you tell me how? I'm begging you, man."

He gritted his teeth, eyes full of desperation.

James frowned and said, "The Jenkins Family's got martial artists who’ve probably tried to help you. If you haven't made it by now, you just don't have the talent. Give it up."

Walter clenched his teeth. James' words hit hard. His family's martial artists had hintedat the same thing. But Walter wasn't ready to accept that. He was stubborn and competitive; he desperately wanted to become a martial artist.

He swallowed James' jab, took a deep breath, and did something that caught James off guard. He bowed at a ninety-degree angle and said sincerely, "James, I want to be a martial artist more than anything. Please tell me how. I'll be forever grateful."

At this point, Emberlyn chimed in, "Would you even give up chasing me if he agrees?"

Walter's face twisted with pain, hesitation, reluctance, and desire before finally settling on determination.

"If James can help me become a martial artist, then yes," he said firmly.

Emberlyn was thrilled and pleaded with James, "James, please help him out. You've helped others break through before."

With Emberlyn's words, Walter got even more excited.

James looked at Walter's eager face and suddenly laughed. "Who are you? Why should I help you?"

Walter was stunned. He hadn't expected that. As the heir to the Jenkins Family, he thought his humble request would make James help him.

"James, I know I was a jerk before, and that’s on me. But I promise I'll never do it again. If you can help me break through, I swear I'll treat you like an honored guest from now on," Walter said earnestly, his words moving some people around.

But James stayed stone-faced, even giving a contemptuous smile. "Walter, you're full of yourself. Do you think I care about being your guest? In the Jenkins Family, who's more powerful, you or Derek? Derek treats me like a guest; why should I be yours? Who do you think you are?"

Walter's face fell. He felt a mix of anger and shame but couldn't argue because James was right.

"But I really, really want to become a martial artist," Walter said, clenching his fists.

"That's your problem, not mine," James replied coldly.

Walter's chest heaved. His mind raced, trying to think of a way to convince James. He couldn't come up with anything. Finally, he thought of one last resort. His breathing quickened as he gritted his teeth.

He dropped to his knees before James.

In his entire life, he had never knelt to anyone. Now, he knelt before James.
