Chapter 574 He Is a One-of-a-Kind Man

In terms of looks, James was far from Neil, not even in the same league.

In terms of status, Neil now surpassed James. The Stewart family was the top family in the City of Mysteries, while the Smith family had fallen to the third and was on the verge of dropping out of the top three.

As for martial arts, Neil believed he was not inferior to James, either.

Most people thought Neil was a master at the third stage of martial arts, but Lisa knew that Neil successfully broke through six months ago. Now, he was a top master at the fourth stage.

Although James was formidable, she didn't think he could beat Neil.

Neil had too many secrets, too deep and unfathomable.

In comparison, it seemed James couldn't match Neil in any aspect. However, Lisa had no feelings for Neil and was increasingly interested in James, who is becoming more and more important in her heart.

In other words, James was very unique, unlike any man she had ever met.

If Neil was mysterious and unfathomable, then James was ever-changing and unpredictable, exuding a unique charm.

Moreover, James had one characteristic that Neil utterly lacked: James was not interested in her, genuinely not interested, not pretending. Neil, on the other hand, was madly in love with her.

People held the mentality that the easier something was to get, the less they cherished it and the less interested they were. The harder it was to get, the more indifferent it was, the more they desired it.

Lisa held this mindset now.

Because James didn't like her, she instead desired James more, or this emotion was a sense of conquest.

She had always had an almost obsessive confidence in herself, believing that all the men in the world would like her. As long as she showed a little favor, these men would wag their tails like dogs to please her.

In fact, this was indeed the case. She had lived for more than twenty years, and the men she had met have treated her like a faith, including Neil and Maurice.

This had invisibly made her look down on all the men in the world, and her taste had become more and more picky until she met James, a man who truly disdained her!

In truth, this visit to Lindwood City was merely to meet Jennifer and see what kind of person she was. She had never truly intended to drive Jennifer away through such means, for it was not in her proud and self-assured nature. Even if she were to win, she would do so with honor and integrity. It was Heather's slip of the tongue that led to this outcome.

Yet, it was precisely her deeply ingrained pride that prevented her from offering any explanation. Since it had already happened, so be it. She was confident that, sooner or later, she would use her charm to captivate James, only to discard him later, thus proving to him that he was nothing special.

When she received James's call, she chose not to explain, allowing the misunderstanding to fester. The greater the challenge, the more accomplished she would feel.

Facing Neil's inquiry, Lisa gently shook her head and chose to refuse.

Neil removed his sunglasses, revealing his captivating eyes, which left many passing women entranced and turning them into instant admirers. Were it not for the solemnity of the moment, they would have approached him for a chat or a photo.

As for Lisa, her beauty was unparalleled. Thus, when she stood beside Neil, they looked like the most perfect couple in the world, at least in the eyes of passersby.

"Is it because of James?" Neil didn't get a response from Lisa. He squinted slightly and said this.

Lisa's steps paused slightly, but she didn't answer.

Neil had already gotten a definite answer. He said, "Lisa, in what way am I inferior to James? For the sake of our many years of friendship, can you tell me?"

Even when jealous, he was so gentle in front of Lisa.

Lisa stopped, looked at Neil, was silent for a while, and then said, "He is a unique man."

Her answer made Neil's breathing slightly rapid, and jealousy and unwillingness flashed in his eyes!

Because Lisa's answer implicitly admitted that she liked James.

And this fact really made Neil very sad.

Like Lisa, he too was imbued with immense pride. From a young age, he had always been the epitome of excellence, attracting the admiration of countless beautiful women, yet he paid them no heed. None could compare to Lisa; noble princesses, international movie stars, and heiresses alike all paled in comparison to her.

He had only liked one woman in his life, Lisa.

He firmly believed that he was the only man in the world worthy of Lisa. Even though Lisa had always been indifferent to him over the years, he had not given up because he believed this was just Lisa's reserve.

In Neil's eyes, Lisa would understand that he was Lisa's true match.

But now, James had appeared and won Lisa's heart!

This really made Neil extremely jealous and hateful!

Neil had heard the name James many times. When he was still training overseas, he had already heard of James's reputation, known as the most talented person in the City of Mysteries in a hundred years, invincible among the younger generation.

He had always been unconvinced, thinking it was all hype. He fundamentally believed that in such a stable domestic environment, it was impossible to cultivate such a powerful genius. True geniuses were honed on the battlefield of life and death.

Neil was the man who emerged from the battlefield as a killing god; his martial arts were profound and his killing skills were at their peak. He didn't think James is his match. So he never really took James seriously!

Five years ago, after completing his training, he received orders from his family to return to the City of Mysteries to take charge. He thought about finding an opportunity to defeat James and announce to everyone in the City of Mysteries that he, Neil, was the most talented man in the City of Mysteries.

Unfortunately, before he returned, James had already mysteriously disappeared.

This also led to persistent doubts about his position as the number one in the City of Mysteries. Many believed that he held this title only because James was absent. Although he never voiced his displeasure, it undeniably irked him.

And now, this matter with Lisa had brought his hostility towards James to a peak.

He must defeat James and tell everyone in the City of Mysteries, tell Lisa, that he, Neil, was the most talented genius!

No exceptions.
