Chapter 571 Call Sidney Back
At the Lawson Mansion, after James and Clio left, the atmosphere remained extremely awkward. Everyone pretended as if nothing had happened, making it seem like everything was normal. However, the tension in the air was palpable.
Although the guests continued to move about normally, the atmosphere was no longer as lively as before. They all drank their wine, but none dared to speak freely.
If they were to make a ruckus, it would be an insult to the Lawson family. The best thing they could do was to act as if they knew nothing and keep their heads down.
Nolan's face was as dark as it could get.
The other Lawson family members were equally upset. Today was supposed to be a joyous occasion for the Lawson family, with so many guests invited, and James had caused such a scene. It was more than just a lack of respect for the Lawson family!
He harbored some resentment towards Mason and Yosef. Despite an internal struggle with his rational mind, he still allowed these negative emotions to surface. Although he knew it wasn't their fault, but rather James's arrogance and audacity, he couldn't help but feel this way.
Mason said, "Mr. Lawson, told as I did. James is an arrogant lunatic who can do anything. Today's incident is because Mr. Lewis and I provoked him. I apologize for bringing this trouble to you."
Yosef also stepped forward and said, "Well, Mr. Lawson, it's all our fault. We didn't expect James to disregard even the Lawson family."
Nolan was already furious, and hearing this made him even angrier. If it weren't for the inappropriate setting, he would have exploded in rage.
Other Lawson family members also showed their anger. Many of the younger generation stepped forward, expressing their opinions that James must not be let off easily!
Afterward, the party couldn't continue. As the head of the Lawson family, Nolan managed to stay rational. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and went on stage, smiling as he announced that due to health issues, the party was canceled and postponed for a week.
Everyone intuitively understood that the soirée couldn't proceed as usual. Pretending to be unaware, they put on smiles and gradually took their leave, bidding farewell to Nolan one by one.
Once everyone had left, Nolan's anger erupted. He violently smashed everything around him.
"This James has gone too far! We can't let this slide!"
"Holy crap, when has the Lawson family ever been humiliated like this?"
The Lawson family members all started voicing their anger, insisting that James must be severely punished.
At this moment, a voice came from deep within, "Go bring Sidney back."
Hearing this voice, all the Lawson family members' faces changed, including Nolan. He quickly stepped back and saw an old man with a head full of white hair, leaning on a dragon-headed cane, slowly walking out.
This old man looked very aged, but his spirit was still quite good. His face was deeply wrinkled, resembling tree bark. This was Owen Lawson, the oldest member of the Lawson family, now 102 years old.
"Owen, what brought you here?" Nolan quickly ran over, carefully supporting the old man, bending his body in extreme respect.
Everyone else also knelt down, shouting, "Owen."
Owen sat down, his age painfully evident. His steps had become languid, his pupils clouded with severe cataracts.
After sitting down, he took a couple of breaths, looked at the kneeling Lawson family members, his descendants, and sighed, "What a shame. Such a large Lawson family, and you let a young man humiliate you at a party."
With this, all the Lawson family members lowered their heads in shame.
Especially Nolan, as the head of the family, he felt deeply ashamed, and his hatred for James grew even stronger.
He knelt in front of Owen with a thud, slapped himself twice, and loudly repented.
Owen said, "Tell me what happened."
Nolan didn't dare disobey and quickly recounted the events, including the feud between Mason, Yosef, and James, as well as James's identity.
After listening, Owen closed his eyes and sighed, "This James is truly a genius. It's a pity he's not part of the Lawson family."
Nolan lowered his head deeply, not daring to make a sound.
The younger generation of the Lawson family felt a burning shame on their faces. They were of similar age to James, but compared to him, they were far inferior.
Then, Owen coughed twice and said, "Call Sidney back and inform him of this matter. If necessary, initiate the Godslaying Plan."
Hearing the Godslaying Plan, Nolan's scalp tingled, and he looked at Owen in shock. James was just a young man under thirty, even if he was highly skilled in martial arts, was it necessary to initiate the Godslaying Plan?
Owen saw his confusion but didn't explain further. He waved his hand and said, "Do as I say."
Then he muttered, "It's a pity Sidney doesn't want to be the head of the family."
Nolan happened to hear this, and his mouth twitched twice, feeling deeply uncomfortable. In fact, from childhood to adulthood, he had never been as outstanding as Sidney. The position of head of the family was originally meant for Sidney, but Sidney's carefree nature led him to give it up.
This point had always made Nolan uncomfortable.
This was the reality, and although no one had mentioned it before, Owen's words brought it up again, making Nolan feel even worse.
Meanwhile, James, having learned Jennifer's whereabouts from Clio, became excited and asked, "Where is she now? Tell me, I'll go find her right away!"
Clio, after reading the information, showed an awkward smile, "We have a lead on Mrs. Smith, but we haven't pinpointed her exact location yet."
James immediately frowned, "What do you mean?"
After Clio explained, he realized that they was not sure about Jennifer's exact location but had found clues that she had been in contact with someone.
"Who is this person?" James immediately asked.
Clio handed her phone to James.
