Chapter 616 Slayer VS James

On the third day, James finally carved out some time to take Jennifer and Harmony to a big park. Honestly, it was kind of embarrassing—Jennifer had been in the City of Mysteries for a while now, and James hadn't managed to hang out with her properly until now.

But today, he was in a chill mood and had the time, so he figured, why not? With Harmony tagging along, it turned into a little group outing.

Luckily, it wasn't the weekend, so the park wasn't too crowded.

Along the way, Jennifer held James' hand, making Harmony very envious. She wished she could hold James' other hand.

The more Harmony spent time with James, the deeper she fell for him. James seemed to have a kind of magic that attracted any woman who got close to him.

Jennifer had hinted to Harmony many times to be more proactive, sharing many strategies with her. She even made it clear that she didn't mind sharing James with Harmony. It was because of Jennifer's generosity and encouragement that Harmony became bolder. Taking advantage of a moment when James wasn't paying attention, she bit her lip and held James' other hand.

James was taken aback and quickly looked at Harmony. Her face turned red, and she pretended to look elsewhere, avoiding eye contact with James.

James tried to shake off Harmony's hand, but she held on tightly, not giving him the chance to let go.

On the other side, Jennifer saw this and smiled with satisfaction. Finally, Harmony had figured it out.

James caught on to their little game and couldn't help but smirk. He didn't pull away when Harmony grabbed his hand—why would he? He didn't mind her, and after Jennifer kept pushing them together, he figured there was no point playing hard to get. Plus, let's be real, Jennifer alone wasn't cutting it for him. He was a guy, after all.

Harmony's heart was racing, and she was very nervous. But when James only hesitated for a second before letting her hold his hand, she finally relaxed. A huge, genuine smile spread across her face—she was over the moon.

Others who saw two beautiful women holding hands with an ordinary-looking man were extremely envious.

The park didn't have much to offer, and Jennifer and Harmony quickly got bored. Moreover, they weren't in great shape and soon became breathless. James simply put his arms around their waists, supporting two-thirds of their weight, making it much easier for them to walk.

They both loved this feeling, sensing James' strength and feeling protected. It was wonderful.

However, just as they were about to leave the park and get something to eat, James suddenly felt something and frowned slightly. He said to Jennifer and Harmony, "You two go home with the driver first. I have something to take care of."

They were both taken aback. Jennifer was the first to react, showing some concern on her face. "Is it something dangerous?"

Recently, James had been in the spotlight, with many people wanting revenge on him. Jennifer couldn't help but worry.

Harmony also said worriedly, "Why don't we go back together?"

They knew James was powerful, but they didn't have a clear understanding of just how powerful. It was purely a woman's instinct to worry about James.

James smiled and said, "It's nothing, just a little trouble. The other party is no match for me. Be good and go back first. I'll be back soon."

Jennifer and Harmony, hearing James say this, weren't unreasonable. They nodded and said, "Alright, but be sure to stay safe."

James nodded and gently kissed her lips, saying with a warm smile, "Don't worry, I will."

Harmony, watching from the side, felt envious. Summoning her courage, she stood on tiptoe and kissed James on the lips, her face turning red as she said, "Make sure you come back safely!"

James' heart raced a bit faster. Harmony was getting bolder. The key was that Jennifer was smiling and not angry at all.

After they left, James' smile faded as he looked in a certain direction. A tall, thin, overly handsome young man with a pale face, looking somewhat like a vampire, walked out of the crowd.

He was clearly walking on his feet, but it felt as if his body had no weight and was floating with the wind.

Seeing this man, James felt a bit excited. The other party was a master at the peak of the fourth stage of martial arts, just like him.

This was the second person James had encountered at the peak of the fourth stage of martial arts, besides himself. However, the other party's style was completely different from his own. From the man, James sensed a strong smell of blood and a hint of resentment, as if he had killed so many people that their vengeful spirits clung to him.

However, the man wasn't affected by these vengeful spirits. Instead, they had become his characteristic.

James immediately recognized that this man must be from the Godslayer Organization.

This confirmed his premonition. He had expected that within these few days, someone from the Godslayer Organization would come looking for him.

This was just as well, saving him the trouble of finding the Godslayer Organization himself.

The man was Slayer, one of the ace assassins of the Godslayer Organization, with terrifying strength and countless deaths to his name.

Seeing James, Slayer showed a mocking smile. Although he was walking, he moved extremely fast and soon reached James.

James stood with his hands behind his back and said, "I've been waiting for you for a long time."

Slayer looked at James with a wicked smile, his lazy posture showing that he didn't take James seriously. With his hands in his pockets and his head tilted, he said, "Lucky guy, getting attention from two stunners. After I'm done with you, I'll take those two for a spin. A month ought to do it."

His tone was lewd and obscene.

James was furious but didn't immediately make a move. It wasn't that he was afraid of the other party, but there were too many people around. "Was it you who kidnapped Arianwen?"

Slayer snapped his fingers and showed a wicked smile. "Absolutely correct. But she doesn't go by Arianwen now; she goes by Ruthless. After I take your head back, I'll enjoy her under me."

James' eyes turned cold, and he ran towards a secluded area, wanting to avoid the public eye.

Slayer thought he was scared and showed a disdainful smile. "Scared? Is this the so-called number one in the City of Mysteries? Pathetic."

In the next moment, his figure disappeared from where he stood, following James.

A few tourists who were watching them noticed that they disappeared in the blink of an eye and thought they had encountered a strange event.
