Chapter 531 Jennifer and Lisa's Call

"Jennifer, who was on the phone?" Kaitlyn asked curiously.

Jennifer replied, "It was from City of Mysteries, probably a spam call."

However, she later noticed that the number ended with six eights, which clearly couldn't be a spam call. She paused for a moment and said, "Mom, I'm going to take this call."

A woman's intuition told her she should answer this call.

Jennifer returned to her room and answered the phone, "Hello, this is Jennifer speaking."

There was no response from the other end, just silence, with only the faint sound of a woman's breathing.

Jennifer frowned slightly and continued, "Hello, can you hear me?"

It was still no response. She muttered something incomprehensible and was about to hang up when a voice finally came through. To be precise, it was a woman's voice, a very pleasant one. Just from hearing it, Jennifer could tell the owner of the voice must be a stunning beauty. "Jennifer, I got you."

Indeed, it was Lisa on the other end. Hearing this, Jennifer frowned and asked, "Who are you? Why are you looking for me?"

" I'm Lisa Savoy, from City of Mysteries." Lisa replied.

"Lisa Savoy?" Jennifer searched her memory for any recollection of this name but came up blank. She didn't know Lisa at all.

However, the voice and the aura it exuded told Jennifer that this was no ordinary person.

"I don't know you. How do you know my name, and what do you want from me?" Jennifer asked, suddenly thinking of something and her tone turned cold, "Are you sent by Brent?"

Jennifer couldn't help but consider this possibility.

But Lisa's laughter came from the other end, "Brent? He's nothing."

Jennifer's frown deepened. Lisa's words sounded arrogant, but the tone didn't seem fake, making Jennifer even more puzzled. She felt a strange sense of unease, took a deep breath, and said sternly, "Who are you really?"

“Your husband never told you my name, did he?” Lisa said, now seated in Lindwood City. She sat on the sofa with her legs crossed, gazing at Jennifer's photograph in her hand, a playful smile appearing on her lips.

With this, Jennifer's breath quickened, and her mind felt like it was struck by lightning!

Instinctively, Jennifer recalled what her mother Kaitlyn had said earlier: men tended to stray when they became wealthy.

'No, no, it can't be! James isn't that kind of person.' Jennifer mused, trying to calm herself down.

Jennifer held the phone away and took a couple of deep breaths.

"Stop pretending. You're just a friend of my husband's from City of Mysteries, right? I know his background; he's the eldest son of the Smith family," Jennifer said flatly.

Jennifer understood clearly that James would never betray her; if he had ever intended to, he would have left long ago and never returned.

As for why she received this call, Kaitlyn was right. A man as outstanding as James would naturally have admirers. She trusted James unconditionally.

However, Lisa's next words left her utterly confused, her mind going blank, "It seems he's still hiding things from you. I'm James's fiancée, recognized by the Smith family, officially engaged."

"What?" Jennifer's mind exploded, and she couldn't help but cry out. Her loud exclamation startled Dennis and Kaitlyn outside, who knocked on the door to ask if everything was alright. Her mind in turmoil, she brushed off her mother Kaitlyn with a few words, quickly walked into the bathroom, locked herself in, and said sternly, "I don't believe you. You can't fool me!"

"Fool you? It seems your intelligence isn't that high," Lisa said, somewhat disappointed. "Jennifer, I'm in Lindwood City. If you still want to be with James, come out and meet me."

Jennifer's mind was in chaos. Lisa's words had a huge impact on her. She had never imagined that James could have a fiancée!

"In ten minutes, I'll send someone to your apartment complex. If you truly love James, come meet me." With that, Lisa hung up.

Listening to the busy tone on the phone, Jennifer sat on the bed in a daze for a full half-minute before slowly coming to her senses.

Holding the phone, she bit her lip. Her first instinct was to call James to verify if it was true.

But as she picked up the phone, she recalled what Kaitlyn had said earlier and hesitated. Could it be that James had really deceived her and had a fiancée?

A man as outstanding as James, from a prestigious family, how could he be willing to stay with an ordinary woman like her?

Moreover, the woman on the phone was clearly a significant figure, on the same level as James, with no reason to lie to her.

After another half-minute, Jennifer gritted her teeth, put down the phone, gave up the idea of calling James, and took a coat from the wardrobe, planning to go to the meeting.

Jennifer believed that the woman named Lisa wasn't lying to her and wouldn't harm her.

Perhaps, Lisa really was meeting her as James's fiancée.

"Dad, Mom, I have something to do and need to go out for a bit. I'll take the keys, so don't wait up for me," Jennifer said with a smile, deliberately smiling brightly to hide her inner turmoil.

Kaitlyn said, "It's so late, why are you going out? Who's looking for you?"

Dennis added, "Well, it's not safe to go out so late."

Jennifer smiled, "There's nothing unsafe. I'm just meeting a friend nearby. Alright, my friend is already waiting downstairs."

"Which friend? Is it Harmony?" Kaitlyn asked.

"Yes, it's her... Dad, Mom, I'm leaving now." Jennifer replied with unease.

"Ms. Savoy, do you think Jennifer will really come to see you?" On Lisa's side, Heather asked while helping Lisa change clothes.

To meet Jennifer, Lisa had deliberately worn a very beautiful dress to completely outshine Jennifer.

She was also curious about what kind of woman Jennifer was to make James so devoted.

"Don't worry, she'll definitely come," Lisa said confidently.
