Chapter 54 I'm Going to Get You!
"What did you say?" James looked at her.
Jennifer didn't reply. She simply said, "You're sleeping in the guest room tonight," and went back to her room, locking the door behind her.
James stood still for a full minute before he began to move.
Tonight, James went to sleep in the guest room. After five years of marriage, this was the first time Jennifer had brought up divorce. It was impossible not to feel anything about it.
In fact, he had anticipated this day long ago, but he never thought it would happen so quickly and in this way.
Tonight, James couldn't sleep and only drifted off slowly towards midnight.
Over the next two days, James and Jennifer didn't exchange a single word. They only exchanged perfunctory words when Dennis or Kaitlyn was around.
On this day, Jennifer left work early, contacted a friend at a law firm, drew up a divorce agreement, and was about to take it back to have James sign it, putting an end to this marriage.
However, as reached the parking lot and was about to get into her car, a figure suddenly appeared in front of her, staring at her with resentment.
"John? What are you doing here?" Jennifer frowned. The person standing in front of her was indeed John.
As John approached her with a smile, he asked, "I came to find you. What are you holding?"
Jennifer stuffed the divorce agreement into her bag and said, "Nothing. Why aren’t you at work? What do you want?"
She started walking towards her car, but John stood in her way, blocking her path. "I came to find you. Of course, I have something to discuss."
John smiled, his expression eerie, and Jennifer could smell alcohol mixed with bad breath, which made her feel nauseous. She immediately took two steps back, keeping her distance from John. "Speak quickly, and I need to get home in time."
Little did she know that upon hearing her words, John's emotions suddenly escalated. "Why are you in such a hurry to go back to that loser?!" Jennifer was startled by his sudden movement and stepped back again, displeased. "John, watch your language. That's my husband."
"He's just a loser. If it weren't for him, I would have had you a long time ago! If it weren't for him, I would still be the head of the department, earning a six-figure salary. It's all his fault! And now you're going back to him? Jennifer, are you going back to sleep with him? After being married for so long, you must have slept with him countless times!" John's expression gradually lost control. "What's so great about him? He's just a loser who can't even find a job! Why do you keep clinging to him? I like you so much; I've been pursuing you for so long; why won't you give me a chance? Why do you keep rejecting me time and time again?!"
"You're insane!" Jennifer, who had some colleague-like feelings towards John, now completely lost them. She tried to avoid John and leave, but he immediately grabbed her.
"Don't go! Tell me, why do you keep rejecting me!"
"Let go of me, you're hurting me!" Jennifer frowned and forcefully pushed John away.
She started to run, realizing that John had some mental issues and that continuing to engage with him could be dangerous.
But her speed couldn't match John's. When he saw her running, he became even angrier, shouted in frustration, and quickly caught up with Jennifer.
John did have mental issues. In fact, he had been fired from Lindwood City Hospital the day before, losing the job he was proud of, and was also being investigated for corruption and bribery, likely facing imprisonment!
On top of that, Michael was out to get him. Even if he survived this ordeal, no hospital would hire him. With a pile of debts outside, losing this job meant he was finished.
That day, he was mocked by many relatives, and his father even gave him a hard slap.
Falling from heaven to hell, all in just two days.
His mental state collapsed.
All of this was caused by Jennifer. If she had accepted his love earlier and divorced James, none of this would have happened!
Yes, it was all Jennifer's fault!
He drank, and with alcohol came courage. Since he was done for anyway, he decided to vent his anger before he died and drag Jennifer down with him.
So he found Jennifer, and just as the parking lot was empty, he appeared, blocking her way.
But now this woman wanted to run? No way!
He rushed forward and grabbed Jennifer again, "You're not going anywhere! You hear me!"
He was extremely agitated, his eyes bloodshot. His menacing looks frightened Jennifer, "John, don't do anything foolish! Love is not something you can force. You're outstanding, you can definitely find a better woman than me."
"Nonsense!" John glared at Jennifer. "My life is over, over! It's all because of you, you wretched woman! If you had divorced that loser James earlier and been with me, none of this would have happened!"
Jennifer felt the pain of his grip and regretted why she had come here at this moment.
"So what do you want?" Jennifer tried to calm herself down.
John revealed an evil smile. "I want you. I want the whole of you!"
Jennifer's face changed. She pushed John away again and turned to run.
But she didn't run far because in front of her were two men who were clearly up to no good, with lecherous looks and greedy eyes fixed on her, shamelessly eyeing her up. "Wow, she's really pretty, with that face, chest, and butt. A real beauty! No wonder Ah Feng has been eyeing her for so long."
These two men, also drunk, glinted with lust in their eyes.
Jennifer panicked.
She turned around abruptly, but John was already closing in, holding a small knife to her neck. "Jennifer, you can't escape, Jennifer..."
Jennifer's legs went weak. If she hadn't had a slightly stronger mental fortitude than most people, she wouldn't have been able to stand at this moment. "John, what are you doing... This is a crime, and you'll go to jail!"
"Jail? Hahaha..." John laughed loudly, his body trembling slightly, the hand holding the knife in front of Jennifer swaying back and forth, frightening her. "Do you think I care? My life is over! But before I die, I'll make sure to give you a proper send-off!!"
With that said, he was about to forcibly drag Jennifer away to a secluded corner to violate her.
Jennifer was truly scared now. At this critical moment, she shouted, "John! I came here with James, and he's on his way! If you dare touch me, he will definitely kill you!!"

"I was ruined by that loser, and I'll make sure he pays for it even if it costs me my life!"
