Chapter 85 Mockery at the Class Reunion

Jennifer's university class reunion is held every year, the previous two years were held at a resort, and this year it's at the Ql Hotel.

Ql Hotel is the only five-star hotel in Lindwood City, magnificent and luxurious, and the owner behind it is Michael Brown, the richest man.

Being able to host the reunion here indicates that Jennifer's classmates from that class are generally doing well.

Later on, he chuckled and thought about Harmony. With her being the sister of the richest man, hosting the reunion at their own hotel would be a piece of cake.

Thinking of Harmony, James inexplicably felt a bit nervous. He kept avoiding Harmony, especially after the incident where she used him as her fake boyfriend in front of others.

This time, if he went with Jennifer, and if Harmony happened to bring up that incident, he would be in big trouble.

So, he hesitated and said, "How about you go by yourself?"

Jennifer shook her head and said, "Why? Weren't you eager for me to take you there before?"

James didn't dare to reveal the real reason. He chuckled and said, "I'm just afraid of embarrassing you."

Jennifer rolled her eyes, and replied, "It's fine, I don't mind."

Well, they had been through this for five years, what else could happen?

Seeing Jennifer's firm attitude, James wore a wry smile.
"Alright," James sighed and relented.

Seeing his reluctant expression, Jennifer immediately got angry, and asked, "Is it so difficult for you to accompany me to the class reunion?"

"Of course not!" James hurriedly explained, "Why would it be difficult?"

Jennifer snorted, her expression finally softening a bit.

The next day, Jennifer took a day off, dressed herself up beautifully, chose an evening gown that suited her temperament, and took James to get a haircut and pick out a decent suit.

It must be said that a well-groomed man like James, dressed in a black suit, looked quite handsome, exuding a calm and restrained aura that other men lacked.

With James's appearance, he was no less than Curtis.

'After tidying up, he looked quite handsome,' Jennifer thought to herself, somewhat infatuated.

James, noticed Jennifer staring at him, touched his face, and asked awkwardly, "Is there something on my face?"

"No, let's go to the Ql Hotel," Jennifer quickly said and regained her cold demeanor, not one to joke around. This rapid change left James puzzled, wondering what was going on with Jennifer.

Considering that there would be drinking at the reunion, James didn't drive but instead called a ride-hailing service.

Arriving at the Ql Hotel, most of the classmates were already there, chatting animatedly. The arrival of James and Jennifer immediately caught everyone's attention, with all eyes turning towards them. Seeing Jennifer in a light gold evening gown, everyone was stunned!

Jennifer was a campus goddess during her university days, the dream girl of many male students.

In the years since their graduation, many female classmates' looks had declined, gaining weight and losing their charm. They had to apply layers of makeup before daring to show up.

Jennifer, on the other hand, not only maintained her looks but had become even more beautiful and elegant than those of her university days!

Her appearance instantly overshadowed all the other female classmates present, standing out like a princess.

Almost all the male alumni present had secretly admired Jennifer at some point. Now, seeing Jennifer evoked feelings of admiration among them. But upon noticing James beside her, they felt disappointed and regretful. How could such a princess-like woman marry a loser like him?

James suddenly felt a wave of hostility directed at him from many gazes.

Swiftly scanning the room, he didn't spot Harmony, feeling a slight sense of relief.

"Jennifer, you're finally here, come sit down," Juliana urged as she approached, warmly taking Jennifer's hand and pulling her away from James.

"My goodness, it's been a year, and you've become even more beautiful! How do you maintain yourself? Tell us."

"Yes, your skin is so radiant, I'd believe you were eighteen. You're so lucky!"

Jennifer was surrounded by a group of female classmates, completely pushing James aside.

On the contrary, James was left standing there, completely ignored.

James didn't mind at all. He didn’t like to come here in the first place, so it was better if no one bothered him. He was content to be left alone.

The past five years of humble life had built his character well. He didn't care about others' opinions.

He helped himself to the buffet, having not eaten food for a day and feeling famished. His appetite had increased along with his regained strength, three times that of an average person. However, his behavior, seen by many men present, was considered quite poorly and embarrassing.

Somebody commented, "A loser is always a loser; Such an appetite; his stomach is never fully satisfied."

Someone sneered condescendingly, "Hey, don't say that. Not everyone has the opportunity to indulge in such exquisite food. For some, it's a rare treat they might only experience once a year. If they have the chance to enjoy it now, what's wrong with that?"

Somebody agreed, "Haha, true."

Another remarked, "I remember a couple of years ago when he came to the reunion with Jennifer, saying he couldn't find a job. I wonder if he's found one now?"

One suggested, "Who knows, let's go ask."

Several male alumni, who had once secretly admired Jennifer, collectively sneered at James, their eyes full of disdain.

Someone suggested, "Joel, you were the most aggressive in pursuing Jennifer during university. Why don't you go ask him?"

The person called Joel stood up, smiling, "Sure."

He walked over to James with a glass of beer, and in a strange yet condescending tone, said, "So, have you never had such a delicious buffet before?"

"Well, the taste is pretty good," James replied as he bit into a large lobster without looking up; he was truly starving.

"Haha, I knew you hadn't. A grand hotel like Ql Hotel, you've probably never been here in your life," Joel sneered.

James looked up at Joel. "Do you need something from me?" he asked, innocently.

Another man walked over and said, "His name is James."

"Yes, James. Last year, I heard from Jennifer that you couldn't find a job. Have you found one this year? If you haven't, I have a job for you," one said.
