Chapter 503 Brent's Fury
Calvin couldn't figure out why James was so good at fighting!
Calvin was certain that James possessed at least a second-stage martial artist.
Anyone with that level of spiritual and skill attainment was a big shot in society, wealthy and powerful. Even Calvin, a first-stage martial artist, was considered an elite in society.
Martial artists weren't just about fighting; once they broke through to the martial artist realm, their intelligence also increased significantly. They learned things faster than ordinary people and naturally did better in society.
But James, with his second-stage level of spiritual and skill attainment, Calvin couldn't fathom why James would stoop to become the Johnson family's son-in-law.
Luckily, Calvin didn't know that James was fourth-stage martial artist; otherwise, he would have been scared out of his wits on the spot.
Under James's pressure, Calvin gave in, "I'll tell you... the person who instructed me is Brent!"
James frowned and asked, "Who is Brent?"
"Brent is from the Lewis family in Starlight Province, a very prominent figure. James, he sent me to cause trouble for you. I'm just a henchman; it's not my fault." Calvin pleaded, losing all his dignity in front of James without realizing it.
"Jennifer, do you know this Brent?" James asked Jennifer. Jennifer shook her head and said, "I've never heard of him."
James stepped on Calvin's chest, making it hard for him to breathe, "Tell me, why is Brent causing us trouble?"
"James, James, I really don't know. I'm just a henchman paid to do a job. I don't know anything." Calvin pleaded bitterly.
James was about to ask more questions when Jennifer's phone rang. She answered it and her face changed instantly. She said to James in a panic, "Honey, my dad's in trouble! My mom just called, asking us to go back quickly!"
"Alright." Without hesitation, James crippled Calvin's level of spiritual and skill attainment with a single kick and said coldly, "This is your punishment for daring to mess with my wife. If I see you again, it won't be just crippling you."
Calvin convulsed in pain, unable to speak. He regretted it deeply. He had spent over ten years cultivating his level of spiritual and skill attainment, and now James had destroyed it with one kick, ruining his entire life!
As for the others, James didn't cripple them and left with Jennifer.
Not long after they left, Brent arrived. Seeing the mess in the room and the barely alive Calvin, he was shocked.
Brent said in a deep voice, "What happened?"
A subordinate struggled to stand up, staggered to Brent, and said with difficulty, "Sir, our mission failed. That James is a martial artist with a very high level of spiritual and skill attainment. We were all defeated by him."
"What? He's a martial artist?" Brent was stunned for a moment, then immediately turned his gaze to the middle-aged man beside him and said coldly, "What's going on? Didn't you say he was just an ordinary person?"
The middle-aged man broke out in a cold sweat, "Sir, I investigated for a long time. This James is just an ordinary person. He doesn't have much status in the Johnson family. His only strength is his medical skills; he's a top medical expert in the country. There's no mention of him being a martial artist."
At this moment, Calvin, who was groaning in pain on the ground, said with difficulty, "Your information is outdated. James is not just a martial artist; he's a second-stage super expert."
After Brent comprehended the entire sequence of events from that night, his face became exceptionally grim. He clenched his fists, and anyone could sense the fury and murderous intent emanating from him.
"Interesting." Suddenly, Brent smiled, looking particularly eerie, "I thought James was just an ordinary person, but he's a martial artist. How funny! I love tormenting strong person. When I cripple James, playing with Jennifer will be even more enjoyable."
He then started laughing.
His laughter was particularly eerie and sinister in the room. He now seemed like a venomous snake, ready to strike at any moment.
The middle-aged man beside Brent shuddered involuntarily at the sight of Brent's demeanor. He silently mourned for James, thinking that now that Brent was enraged, James was in serious trouble. Perhaps even a swift death would be a luxury; he thought James was sure to be tortured to the point of wishing for death.
"Jennifer, what happened to your dad? Is it serious?" James asked on the way back.
Jennifer shook her head, "I'm not sure. My mom didn't mention, but from her tone, it seems serious. We need to hurry back."
James nodded.
After generously tipping the taxi driver, the driver transformed into a masterful chauffeur, careening through the city streets with reckless abandon. What was originally a twenty-minute journey was completed in approximately ten minutes.
When William and Jennifer got back, they found out that Dennis and Kaitlyn had been bumped into by some punks while taking a walk. Fortunately, it wasn't too serious. Dennis demanded compensation, but the punks refused and were very arrogant. When James and Jennifer arrived, James didn't hold back and slapped them a few times, making them behave immediately.
They obediently paid the compensation and were even beaten to tears by James, begging him to let them go.
James's violence surprised some of the neighbors who knew him. They usually saw James as gentle and refined, but they didn't expect him to be so violent, beating up five or six punks with just a few punches and kicks.
"Get lost. If I see you bullying the elderly again, I'll break your legs." James left a harsh warning and waved them off.
Dennis's injuries were not severe; there were no fractures, and a hospital visit was unnecessary. Once back home, James applied some medicine and performed acupuncture to clear his meridians, making Dennis feel significantly better.
After finishing all this, while Jennifer was taking a shower, James called Walter.
"Hello, James, what's up?" As soon as the call connected, Walter's surprised voice came through.
Now Walter treated James with great respect, addressing him with a tone that befited a teacher.
